On my way south to meet up with the folks for Thanksgiving--flying was never really an option, since airfares were horrendous and I'd rather be smeared with honey and buried in an anthill than cope with the mad holiday crush at the airport. So I said, what the heck, I have to go through Vegas anyway, let's leave early and stay there three nights. I had room comps and unused LVA coupons.
Stayed: AZ Charlies Decatur. My room was very nice. The coffee shop still features great specials--the $3.99 breakfast was substantial and really tasty. They have what is almost the last positive EV video poker in town. This was highlighted by the group of 10-12 seniors who seemed to be taking the six machines in shifts. They all played very fast and with perfect strategy. On my second attempt, I was actually able to secure a seat. Two sessions, about six hours: +$230.
Ellis Island: Used the LVA play 10 get free play coupon. For the eighth consecutive time, got $20 on the resultant kiosk game. I think we can regard this as a $20 coupon. Hit the BBQ joint (I can never resist), and it was as good as ever.
South Point: decided to play enough to get a Wally Mart card ($8,333 coin-in). Got torched for -$450 in only three hours of play, then hit a $1000 royal. I said the hell with it. SP was very busy. LOTS of smokers, which seems to be the case here every time I visit. No mask compliance or enforcement at all.
Emerald Island: Had a GREAT breakfast (for free!). Played NSUD Spin Poker to get the $20 cashback (it's a 1% positive play). Hit a nickel royal ($200). Everything was the same as always. Clientele was mostly ambulatory dead people.
Rooms all free, food all free, net result +$1010. All trips should be like this :) Happy Turkey Day, everyone!
