My 2013 WSOP Trip Report: Day 7, Tuesday June 18: A Day of Rest.

As far as I was concerned this trip was over. Sean and I were both tapped, depressed, humiliated, injured (my shoulder, Sean’s liver) and exhausted. If I ever come again, there is no way I would stay for full 5 days before the event I play in starts.

We check out of the Gold Coast and head over the Mirage for breakfast. You cannot use the LVA MRB 2 for 1 Mirage buffet coupon along with Mlife Express comp points. I did have enough to pay for it all with points though. I think the buffet at the Mirage is better than the Luxor and the MGM grand.

I think Sean liked the Mirage buffet the best.

From here we go to the LVH to play off the $100 in free play. Would you believe it only generated $22.25 after I ran it through a $0.25 Top Dollar machine? Sean was given $10 in free play for signing up for a card and won $16! I must have really angered the Gambling Gods on this trip.

We go to the MGM Grand to check into our last hotel. This was a duplicate Mlife offer that included up to 3 nights in a suite, $700 in free play, $350 in resort credit and 2 for 1 show tickets. I don`t think I was supposed to be able to book both, but they honoured it. I did a little bit better with the $700 in free play, converting it into $537.

Standard MGM Grand Room

The Mlife boothling who added on the $700 in free slot play told me that show tickets could not be charged to the room and covered by the $350 room credit. Well, I went back to the booth later on, and a different boothling told me otherwise, and booked 2 tickets to Blue Man Group for Wednesday using the $350 resort credit. I’ve seen their show twice, but Sean hasn’t. If it’s free, nothing is too good for Sean. Does anyone else think these players' club employees don't know what their own resort rules are?

We just relax in the room for the entire afternoon. I start typing up some of the trip report hoping I could get it all posted by the end of the week.

We decide to have dinner at the MGM Grand buffet. The dinner buffet here is okay, but I don`t think it`s worth $71 for 2 people. I guess the classic days of inexpensive buffets are gone...or off-Strip.

Sean finally getting some crab legs.

Some of the great desserts they had at the MGM Grand dinner buffet.

We head over to the Las Vegas Hotel (formerly the Hilton) to see Raiding the Rock Vault. The comped seats had us in Section 1 Row G Seats 8 and 9.

This show was really good! A lot of the classic rock songs that everyone has heard were played. I think Las Vegas is really aiming for the 45 to 55 demographic with shows like this and Rock of Ages etc. This led us to side bet number 4.

SIDE BET #4: Neither of us has any prior knowledge of what they were going to play, so 40 minutes into the show, each of us picked 4 bands and the winner would be the one that has the most of their band`s songs played. I let Sean pick first. He chose Rush, The Beatles, Kiss, and Ozzy Osborne. I chose U2, Aerosmith, Def Leppard and ACDC. I got 3 out of 4 correct and win another $2!

After the show, I lose a bit of money in the LVH slots. I could not believe how empty the LVH is. This used to be my “home base casino” many years ago. How sad. I hope the LVH and this show can make it. We head back to the MGM Grand to sleep.

My Bankroll= -$4700
Sean`s Bankroll= -$1150
# of drinks Sean had = 6

Day 8 Finale to follow.
Thanks Ed for your Day 7 report! Sorry to read about your continued losing! It's just bad (at least so far).

Did you check to see what you could use the FP for at LVH? Could you have used it for Video Blackjack and/or Video Poker instead of just slots? I ask this because you could possibly have conserved more of your potential $ by playing that way!
