My 2013 WSOP Trip Report: Day 8, Wednesday June 19:A Bromance to Remember.

I’m up early and continue typing up the trip report. We eat one last breakfast at the MGM Grand Buffet.
I am able to convert $50 in MGM free play into $65 after breakfast.

Our next stop was WalMart where I had to return a video game I bought earlier. It was pretty eerie to see real live People of WalMart standing in the return line. There was one old codger who cleaned out his entire house of everything unopened with a UPC symbol and tried to return it. It took forever for the cashier to get through his cart, and gave several items back to him that WalMart does not sell.

From here, we stop in at Circus Circus so that Sean could pick up a few souvenirs. The shops here are pretty reasonable. I win $170 in a Wizard of Oz machine. Score!

We head to Harrah’s to see Mac King at 1:00pm. The 2 ‘free’ tickets now cost $28 after taxes and fees. I’ve seen Mac King at least 6 times now. He`s got a new trick with a Guinea Pig that`s pretty amazing.

Here’s the base of the giant Ferris Wheel Caesars is building. Is this really going to turn a profit?

I’m going to miss the old sign here. I hope it can be salvaged by the Neon Museum.

Our next stop is the Gold Coast to earn 300 points and a beach/picnic mat. Sean didn`t want one so I end up earning both at a cost of $225. I am so stupid.

Back at the MGM Grand, we pack up our luggage and go have our last meal at Wolfgang Puck`s American Bar and Grill. We order just enough to charge the room and use up $45 in remaining express comps so that our bill upon checkout is $1.14. Nice!

Our last meal.

We may no longer have our wealth nor our health, but at least we’re both still alive and weren’t at each other’s throats by day 8.

We boot over to the Monte Carlo to see the 10th show (11th if Man of Steel counts) of this financially disastrous trip, Blue Man Group. I think we were a bit crazy to watch this show just 4&1/2 hours before our flight took off. I don`t think there are as many props in this show like there were at the Venetian. There is a new bit where these huge balls are released and bounce around the room. It was a fun show.

Go hard and then go home.

We return the car rental without issue. The 2 ladies that check us in are grateful for the 6 bottles of water we weren’t able to drink and had to leave behind.

So the trip ends with a whimper and not a bang. Sorry if that disappoints anyone who took the time to read all 8 days!

My bankroll = -$4500
Sean’s bankroll = -$1200
# drinks Sean had = 7

Final Thoughts:

1. Although I ended up down about $4500, and Sean about $1200, all the rooms were comped, all the meals were comped and 8 of the 10 shows we saw were comped and I got to play 2 tournaments over the 8 full days.
2. I can’t believe players were allowed to use their IPads and IPhones while playing at the WSOP. WTF was that? If you ask me that makes it too easy to cheat. Those devices have cameras in them for Gods’ sake. You could enter notes or use the computer to compile probabilities on each hand. How is that fair?
3. Aria is an awful place with awful staff working in VIP services. They even put down all of the other MGM Mirage properties when I called them to make a reservation on an offer Mlife posted to my account. They refused to honour any offer on my Mlife account.
4. Although the Tropicana, Gold Coast and LVH aren’t as glamorous as many of the other Strip hotels, earning offers there is a lot easier. Does anyone have any suggestions for home base casinos?
5. I think Sean had about 150 drinks over the 8 days. I’m not a drinker…does anyone know if this means he has a problem?
6. Thanks to everyone who read the reports and made comments!
7. A special thank-you to my lovely wife who gave me the green light to chase a WSOP bracelet once more.

Great trip reports. I've been to Vegas with a Sean before. The stories get better every time they are re-told.
I'm glad Sean's liver survived your trip!
Thank you for the report-I really enjoyed it

I had a lot of laughs thanks for taking the time to write a TR.
Wonderful, hilarious report, the photos too!
Sean is clearly a really, really good sport.
Does he know how many laughs we've had at his expense?
Thanks for taking the time to post your report! Enjoy your beach/picnic mat. I feel for you, I have lots of $50 T-shirts for the same reason.

Thanks so much for the reports!!! I enjoyed each one of them. Sorry about your losses, but you will gain many miles in retelling the stories of your travels with Sean.

It is wonderful that you have a wife who supports your quest for a WSOP bracelet, and someday I hope you earn one!!
Eddie - Sorry you had a losing trip gambling but the other parts read like it was a great trip.
Sean added a lot to your report.
My past experiences say when one drinks a lot and the other not so much things usually don't turn out well.
Losing is never fun, but man do you know how to have a great time. I enjoyed all of your reports.

Thank you so much for posting.
