You have given me an idea.
I have also retired (one year ago), and not only realize that there is no overtime in retirement with which to quickly recover from a losing trip, but also the evil appearance of health problems which, of course, sap a good bit of our money. Almost like God knew I would go crazy gambling and is helping me see reality and slow down.
Anyhow, the thought of staying in Vegas longer than a week always seemed like...impossible, the money can't hold out. But, if I plan for two weeks and...gasp...lower the denomination of play, then I will not feel the rush to feed the slots every minute, have more time to see some sights, and get more bang for the airfare bucks. So, thanks for that idea!
And your photos are lovely!
I have developed a tad of spine in my old age, so permit me to share this advice: the next time you get such a feckless waiter (we won't dignify him with the preferred "server" title), nicely ask him to send the supervisor (matre'd in a nicer place) to your table. When that person arrives, request another server and say why. I guarantee it will produce results. The difficulty with this is that most of us are forgiving of a certain amount of bad service, hoping for improvement, and we end up tolerating the jerk the whole meal, so it is critical to do it as soon as you get that uncomfortable feeling. It may be that the waiter suddenly becomes attentive and friendly (faking it, probably), or you do get a new server who knows that you complained about the other one and will be certain he makes you happy.
Looking for your next great TR!
