My 2015 Spring Trip Report

What a great report! I learned the hard way the cabbies 'reluctance to do a short-term ride (Not that I think it's right - and I do not have mobility issues --at least right now)!. The first time I stayed at the Gold Coast I was clueless about the distance to the Palms and Rio, and asked the bellman to please get us a cab. He showed us a simple 2 minute walk through the garage to the Palms LOL and explained that the cabbie would have lost his place in line for a $2.50 fare, but would call for one if we still wanted it.

I really enjoyed your time downtown, it's my favorite place to stay. I'll have to try that "Shake the Tree" slot at 4Queens - it looks like fun!

Thanks for your wonderful report -- wish I could get away for a two-week trip...Next planned trip is late August for six days.

I have also retired (one year ago), and not only realize that there is no overtime in retirement with which to quickly recover from a losing trip, but also the evil appearance of health problems which, of course, sap a good bit of our money. Almost like God knew I would go crazy gambling and is helping me see reality and slow down.

Anyhow, the thought of staying in Vegas longer than a week always seemed like...impossible, the money can't hold out. But, if I plan for two weeks and...gasp...lower the denomination of play, then I will not feel the rush to feed the slots every minute, have more time to see some sights, and get more bang for the airfare bucks. So, thanks for that idea!

I have a further idea for you with this plan. Go check out the "Casinos" section of the VPFree2 website and you will find places where you can play some good games at lower denominations (such as at Aliante Casino or Boulder Station Casino for example) which, since they have decent enough returning games as low as at the Nickel level, this can enable you to play for longer and also enable you to get around town (to have a change of scenery too)!

Thanks Kris for all the kind words.

Thanks Rec for the advice.
Enjoyed your report very much, Bonnie. What a successful members meet! I would like to stay downtown at the Plaza or the Four Queens sometime, as they are the two places where my parents used to stay on their yearly road trips to Vegas. Which would you recommend above the other? And congratulations on your early retirement! You will have more time to plan your trips to (all of ours) favorite city now! I would enjoy meeting up with you sometime! Gail from Mn

Thank you Gall. I would enjoy that too!
Actually at this point I would recommend the Plaza over the D.
I enjoyed my stay there a little more, and the elevators worked better. Ha!
Thanks, Bonnie! I am going to give the Plaza a try soon! I have never stayed downtown, but they say the gambling is better so that would be nice!
Absolutely loved the book...er...the trip report.

Thank you SO much!

Jon
Haha!
Thank you...for taking the time to read the book!
Fabulous report! I LOVE long trips and actually spent 30 days in Vegas in between jobs with what would have been about a 10 day bankroll. It can be done and it can be a BLAST and relaxing, as you showed all too well! Congrats on the wins and the good times.
Thank you...you can also read my roommate's side of the story ....Kodidog, here too.
