My All Too Forgetable Retirement Vegas Trip

I went to Las Vegas for 8 days to celebrate my retirement from school with my teacher friend Joan.

We got to town on the evening of June 15 and checked into the Bellagio. Upgraded to a convertible Mustang at Dollar. Stayed three days there, three days at Red Rock, and three days at Aria, all comped. Went to see Lily Tomlin on Saturday night at the Orleans and enjoyed the show. Went to eat at P. F. Chang's that evening and enjoyed it.

I played some video keno when we got back to our hotel (Red Rock) about 11 pm, but didn't feel too great so went up to the room to bed. By 1 a.m. I was up throwing up every 15 minutes or so for the rest of the night. Joan had to get up to go to the airport at 5 a.m., so I'm sure she got absolutely no sleep sharing a room with me. Early afternoon Sunday I decided to go to an Urgent Care and got some Zofran tablets there which helped me make it through the rest of the week. Yay! Went back to the room and watched pay for t.v. movies for 24 hours. I enjoyed Rango and Cedar Rapids, but I can't even remember what else I watched. Ordered room service--2 apples, 2 bananas, some white rice, and a jug of iced tea for about $30, but worth it. I survived moving to the Aria on Monday and didn't do too much besides bask at the pool and read before going back home on Thursday.

Only had one winning day and it didn't last for long. At one point I was ahead $1000 for the day, but mostly lost all week.

I think I'd like a do-over for this trip.

Nothing worse than being sick while on vacation. Been there, done that. Was it stomach flu? Food poisoning? I've had food poisoning several times including once in LV. For that reason, I avoid certain foods while in Vegas, especially eggs or anything that contains mayo.

You stayed at 3 great properties. I think you need a do-over.
Connie,
What a shame,,, poor thing.
Nothing worst than wasting a Vegas trip sick in the room...phooey.
Start your retirement over.. you need a do-over indeed!
So sorry you were sick, especially in Las Vegas. I pulled a real rookie mistake on my current trip and burned the soles of both feet, including huge blisters. Walking was awful and everything in LV is soooo far away! My husband (back home) said "OMG, not being able to walk in LV is the worst case scenerio" and I answered "No, it's not. I could be sick and that's MUCH worse". You really have my sympathy...book that do-over trip asap, it's definately going to be a winner!
diane

That really sucks, Connie. I hope you get to go again soon.
Yes, absolutely, you Need a Do-over!!! Poor thing. More fun NEXT time!!!
I agree a do over and soon.
So sorry.
At least you didn't have to go back to work
Yep, do over is in order. My last trip was ruined by pain so I know how you feel. Gonna try to do a do over at the end of this month so don't wait too long to do yours. Glad you're doing better; and, yes, that Zofran is great stuff!
Sounds like you started out great - Bellagio and a convertable.... Sweet. Sad that things slid downward so fast. A do-over is in the cards, no doubt about it! Maybe you can try for an after Labor Day trip when your collegues are all going back to work - you can send them postcards of your oh-so-wonderful Vegas vacation!
