My Brother-in-law's interesting Nevada Excursions

How much do we like Vegas/Reno? My brother-in-law is experiencing an interesting 2 1/2 weeks I will share. He bowls in the USBC National Tournament every year and this year it was in Reno. He long ago scheduled his Reno trip from Indy fly to Reno Sunday 5/26 and back to Indy Thursday 5/30. As the trip grew close he was tasked with a business requirement of a client meeting in Vegas on Tuesday 6/4 so his company scheduled a flight Indy to Vegas on 6/4 back to Indy on 6/5. Just before the Reno trip he received another business meeting requirement in Vegas with a client on Wednesday 6/12. He is now scheduled to fly Indy to Vegas 6/12 and back to Indy on 6/13. I love Reno/Vegas but that is a lot of air time for a little time in Nevada. Agree? Please do not ask why he just did not stay out there.

I'm jealous.

Once upon a time, I decided to take a Southern California Desert Casino run with a friend. Where we wanted to go was 140 Miles one way from where I live. As we got close to Interstate 15 (which takes us to LV), he said (he was the one driving), "Here's our chance. Do you want to go to LV instead of the Palm Springs area and pull an all-nighter there?"

At that point, we were about 90 Miles from Indio and 230 Miles from LV (so I could go up and back from Indio for the same mileage as going one way to LV). And so I said, "No, it's just too far to go for such a ahort time!" And so as much as I love LV, there are just some times where it is simply not worth my going there!

And yes, I do have no idea why your BIL would not just stay in LV instead of going back and forth between Indy and LV! Couldn't he have asked his work about that? How much does this flying cost versus how much a room would be for those days?

Sometimes businesses might be foolish depending on how much homework they have done on trip preparation.
