I had planned our wedding anniversary trip for October 9th (our anniversary) to the 14th (5 days comepd) at Paris. We got engaged in Vegas 2 years ago and also celebrated my daughters birthday (October 12th) in Vegas 2 years ago ( and 3 years ago). This would be the families third time in Vegas during October with 2012 and 2013 being the first 2 times.
I had originally gotten 10 tickets for the Janet Jackson show (10/10) from my host "Tasha", but Janet cancelled. My original request was for a Red Room King however I got a call from a Diamond host named "Ronisha" 2 days prior to my departure for Vegas, who up - graded me to the "Nice Suite" (Room 3103)!!
The room was aptly named. In a word...it was GORGEOUS. A living room, dining room table with 6/8 chairs, 2 bathrooms, refrigerator, 2 huge tv's , shower, jacuzzi tub, a toilet and a bidet (sic)!!! I have never been floored by a room in my 30 plus visits to Vegas like I was Friday afternoon. The bed was Paris comfortable (I need say no more). Our room faced the Bellagio fountains. You couldn't pay for a better view of the fountains at night!
Gaming on the Paris floor has always been a favorite of mine. The craps dealers at Paris are the best in vegas (IMHO). And the paigow tables are mellow with some of the fastest drink service in N. America. VP needs a little work but that's the same for all strip casinos!
We ate at Burger Brasserrie our first day there because the wife enjoys their salads and I like a good burger with my football! Next day my wife and I had breakfast at Le Cafe Ile St Louis. Best omelet I've ever had in Vegas (and I can eat). Even the wheat toast left an impression on me. I'm a coffee drinker and i like the fact that they put the pot on your table. Saturday night we went over to the Spice market buffet (at Planet Hollywood) which is a top 5 buffet for me! We, 10 of us, were seated in the Diamond section and our server, Carlos, brought out a huge platter of my favorite, steamed crab legs!!Monday morning we celebrated my daughters 27th birthday at Mon Ami Gabi. Server put us outside(8 of us) at a perfect spot! I had my Blueberry french toast, with chicken sausage which is enough for 2 people to eat! Everyone enjoyed their meal and no 1, out of 8, could finish everything on their plate!
Sunday night was a very special night. at the Le cabaret lounge, on the casino floor, The group JAMM was performing. I have followed them for 3 years since they sang happy birthday to my daughter 3 years ago at Bally's (Indigo lounge). I saw the lead singer JOE out side before the show started and told him that his group sang happy birthday to my daughter in 2012, and that we would all be in attendance later that night. I later slipped him a note when all 10 of us were seated that night that it was her birthday, with her name and age on it. His female singer called my daughter out, sang happy birthday to her and THEN ask me to join my daughter for a father and son dance! Joe had one of his guys do an old Sinatra song. I cried while we danced.
I know of no other hotel lounge group that would have done anything close to that! JAMM and Paris is a perfect combination for me and my family (younger folks like Ballys more...but its all good). My host Tasha responds to my every need which makes my stay even more enjoyable.
The 1 downside of my Paris stay, was the Mandara Spa. I worked out Saturday morning and at 10 a.m. and in the locker room, it was if the staff hadn't gotten around to stocking anything in the lockers. The robes weren't in (and the robes had no pockets in them). Plus the towel shelves were nearly bare. Before I left they had come and replenished everything but at Paris I expected the locker room/spa to be ready from the word go. 1 advisory for the men. DO NOT USE LOCKERS 1-8. The design of the locker room puts any man, at those lockers, in plain view of anyone in the main hallway or anyone walking to the women's spa. A design mistake that hopefully will get fixed soon. If you stand at any of those lockers and turn 180 degrees you can see all the way through to the women's spa desk ( not a good feeling if you are coming out of or going into the shower, steam room etc). On my last visit to the spa, weds morning, I noticed that towels were either over flowing in the disposal containers and/or that there was seldom anyone at the locker room desk to assist you. I actually began to walk to the women's desk to tun my lock room key in. I've used the spa facilities at Bally's, Flamingo and Caesars. I've never had a similar experience at any of those CET owned properties. Maybe it was just a bad week for them at Mandara!
While at the airport on the way back to Buffalo, I even received a call from a VIP rep at Paris named "John". He just called to see how my experience was during my stay at Paris?! I'm a Paris/CET fan for life! Those folks get it!!
