My Sad LV Trip 7/2-7/5 :(

Well, we were really excited to do the 4th for the 1st time in LV as well as for meeting up w/some good friends. Also, we were going to see Love again as the 1st go-round 2 yrs ago was ruined by my developing meningitis on THAT trip. BUT, the excitement soon wore off as I ended up w/the start of a big RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) flare our 1st afternoon. It settled in my lower back and hips so I was pretty much relegated to hanging out in the room and casino as I had a hard time walking and even sitting for long periods was pretty painful.

So, my sweet and patient 15 y.o. son spent most of his shopping, strip time, and pool time alone and checking-in by phone. Bless his heart, he even watched the fireworks from the hotel room windows as I couldn't travel to the park we had planned on.We did see Love and had great seats (can't remember exactly but were in 200's section which the Mirage VIP services set us up in for 2-1 tix w/the comp stay.)

We did meet our friends for bkfst once but most of our meals were in the room while I nursed my back. That's why we didn't go home early; I soooo wanted to see my BFF and her hubby that it was worth the pain (anyways, when you have RA, you have at least some pain every day; it just becomes a problem when I have a problem walking.)

Our rooms were both nice and clean/comfortable. We stayed 2 comp nights at Mirage followed by 2 comped at Bally's. The Mirage room faced the volcano and the Bally's room had an eastern view so we could see the fireworks going off everywhere. Rick missed the CP fireworks after Love. They were supposed to be at 9:15 but everyone left after it had rained and they assumed it was cancelled. Then, we could hear them going off at 10!

Needless to say I gambled too much (not for really long periods but too much anyhow) while the kid was out having fun. I started on a winning note but then lost, lost, lost. I should have stopped after the Mirage as there was where all of my luck was found and where it stayed. Funny, my last trip was a winner by playing at NYNY and MGM!

Well, I'm back home and still dealing w/my back and limping while I work. It's pretty bad when your elderly pts walk better than you do!!! We have a return trip already booked for 4 comp nights at the Ho 7/28-7/31 but I may cancel if my RA is still being a literal pain in the a**.Hoping we can go so I can show my kid a better time. It's his last trip to LV for awhile as school starts soon and we want to save for SanFran next summer.Maybe we'll get lucky!

Thanks for reading,
Tracy
I hope you are feeling better as being sick on vacation is no fun. I'm sure your son will have fond memories of his Vegas trips with you. I've read several TR from the end of June into the 4th of July holiday where the gambling was tough, very tough. Mine included. Next trip will be better.

Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Tracy for your report!

I'm sorry to read about your bad bout of RA while on this visit which put a crimp in a lot of stuff.

Sorry that your gaming luck was not good as well!

I wish you a much better time and play for your upcoming trip!

Tracy; so sorry to hear that you suffer with Rheumatoid Arthritis

I love the Mirage rooms; they are so beautiful and modern. However, I'm going back to the RIO next trip; they never cease to give us amazing rates and we always rent a vehicle anyway . . . . .

You son will have such fond memories of your vacations together for sure! - Gail

Tracy:
You always reply to others' trip reports, so I was very very sorry to hear you had a less-than-great trip.
I hope the RA let's up and you have a triumphant return to Vegas later this month! Keep us posted.
Take care,
Joe

P.S. I suspect your son had a pretty good time, btw....
Hope the RA has improved ... and that your next trip will be more comfortable and profitable. Sounds like you had a great view of the 4th celebration around town. Bummer you couldn't be outside, though.
