national bowling 2011

Well thanks Wayne for your reporting and I'm happy that you have won some nice money and might win some more nice money with the Basketball parlay!

It's not good that you had very disrupted sleep! I would hate that especially when I'm on vacation.

That is why I usually don't share my room with anyone (since I want to do what I can to get as restful a sleep as possible).

I'm looking forward to reading the finale of your journey! Have a very safe ride home!

Boring end of report.

The Blues Bros show was good. After show we hit the Sapphire Lounge for drinks. For some reason
this turned out to be an early night for me! Oh, well. I'm sure I saved money.

Another night with Scott's machine and phone going off. When I got up I felt surprisingly good.
Scott and I went to Cal-Neva for $5 steak and eggs again. Still tasty. Back to hotel and played
craps with Scott for about an hour without using my card. Made $150.

Made sure the other guys were getting ready and then checked out. I had three nights comped
and one night at $70 plus tax. I asked the desk person if my last night would be covered without
using points. He looked up my play and said yes. I told him again I did not want my points to be
used since the bowling team would take care of it. We were splitting everything this trip. Again,
he said yes. Yeah, it's Sunday morning and they took the points off. I just e-mailed them to get
the room taken care of or to charge my credit card and I'll get the money from the guys. It's not
a lot, but you know, when they say one thing and it's totally different....

Anyway. Played on the sky walk and lost $50. We got on the bus to the airport. First time I was
selected for the frisk at security. I didn't care. Must be my Polish/Irish bloodline that stands out.

Got on plane 45 minutes late. Captain gets on speaker and tells us if the winds are above 50 knots
we're not going anywhere for a while. They're at 48. The plane is swaying while we're sitting there.

He gets on again and says it's going to be pretty bumpy for 'til we reach about 15,000 feet. We take
off, and he's right. It's the worst take off I've experienced. Not ashamed to say I was scared. After
about ten minutes flight gets good. My stomach is in knots. Rest of flight good.

Capt tell us we have 100 knot tail wind and we'll be making up our time. He's right. Hit Chicago about
five minutes early. Landing is great. Nice to be on ground.

End up home in Milwaukee at 9:00.

Trip was good. Did not like Harrahs Reno. Loved Atlantis and Eldorado. I'm not a skier, so not much
to do except bowl and gamble for me. Not like Vegas where you can see the sights.

Next trip 4-13 to 4-15 in Vegas at the M and Harrahs.

Bye. Wayne
Enjoyed reading your report....husband and I were there about 6 years ago...enjoyed it, but we did a lot of riding around and hiking. I would love to go back again and might sometime, but I agree that the part about the empty windows was not good! Sorry to hear about your friend's wife. Hope all goes well with her. Enjoy your trip in March!
i changed the title because Reno is boring

Thanks for the end of your report! It sounds like a decent time was had by all (except for the flight back).

What was your final gaming tally and what happened with the NCAA Basketball parlay?

RecVPPlayer
rec...i lost $200 for the four days

our 3-parlay...Tim took Wisconsin, Scott took some team...maybe western kentucky....i went with
Missouri over Cincy in a pick-em game. My brother-in-law played football at Missou and they used
to have a decent basketball team. Well, the pick-em was a 15 point loss for me. Yeah, I heard
about it; but when you're with your buds it just cost a beer instead of the $300 we would have won.
Well, a loss of $200 for 4 days is not too bad, although it is too bad that the Basketball parlay went down the tubes -- a $300 win would have been quite nice!

Thanks again for your reports, and by the way, how did your bowling team end up doing overall for this get-together?

Guess I should check TR's more often! Nice TR Wayne.
Sounds like you did ok in the gamblin' dept.

What was your Bowling scores? How did your Team, Solo do?

How was weather?
I've been waiting for a couple clear days to make a run for it up there, but they get
a half day of ok..........and then more snow. Last week when you were there, was a 45 car
pile up over the summit. pretty bad.

And sorry to hear about the flight out. Been there. Reno can have some of the worst takeoffs/ landings,
thanks to the wind. Yes, scary.

Glad you made it back home. Thanks for posting!

Rec...Jerry should get a check for singles. He's the only one who beat his average.

C......in a private post I asked you what Atlantis could possibly serve at their dinner
buffet that's not at the lunch. Lots of different, good, and tasty offerings.

I doubt we'll be back in Reno. We can bowl at Nationals anywhere. Nobody was
impressed with Reno. I did like the Eldorado.

Wayne: thanks for posting. You brought back some memories of when I used to bowl with my buddies at the nationals, but back then it was known as ABC. I do remember that the lanes were absolutely the most difficult things I've ever bowled on - so hard to figure out what line to play. Wel, there's always next year!
Also, the winds in Reno can really make landings and takeoffs scary. I've said my share of Hail Marys during those times, and I'm not even Catholic.
Nice heads up on the Cincy chili at Brews Bros - I'll have to try that because I fell in love with it when we were in Cincinnati a couple of years ago.
