New Years in Reno- Reno

This catergory has been alittle Slowwwwwww, so thought
I'd throw in our little trip:

Fun little New Years trip to Reno/Sparks….J.A. Nugget
Our usual Home base for many events like Hot Aug. Nights.

Got over to Peppermill & did some play there too, but no luck.
Balance of stay, staying put at Nugget. A whole 2 nites total.

I Drove up Friday morning, Dec. 30.
Hubby had to work, and I didn't want to get
stuck in the long crawl of traffic Fri. nite.......so booked him a Flight
Sat morning, and I picked him up from the airport. Easy-peasy.

Weather Fine both directions. Hardly any snow in the sierras. Weird.

We enjoyed some good meals at the Nugget, including our usual
Breakfast at Rosies. Think we had Room service too…..

Gambling-wise:

I hit 2 Royals................Single Line............Nickles!!!! LOL
My husband plays nickels mostly, so whenever I sat next to him
and we low-rolled, I seemed to get a little royal.
Both times I drew with 3 Clubs for the RF, And playing Deuces Wild! lol
Some people say they never hit royals playing Deuces, but I’ve hit on them often. Huh

I tried & tried for all the time I was there to hit a DOLLAR Prog.
it had ME written all over it.......
Highest I've ever seen it there, and only 4 machines, so Good odds.

When I first started playing on Friday afternoon, the Prog. was already up to $6,700 +
I managed to hit $1,200 Aces & a few 4oaks, to keep me going, but dang it never hit!

By Sunday morning it Still hadn't hit and was over $8,700……….
I finally Quit for good Sun. noon, when it was over 9k, and by then the Locals swarmed,
and you couldn't get on one of the 4 machines. They Locked us out basically.

So we went home Sun. afternoon, I was down overall, but had a great time.

Cant forget to mention:
The New Years party in the Nugget Ballroom was really nice & we danced some too.
Great band. Food was Excellent. All the bells & whistles………Very nice.

Wish I could have hit the biggie Prog., but it was tight!
I usually don’t have to work that hard.

So thats it for our Reno New Year trip.

Happy New Year! Sounds like a fun weekend! Nickle royals are a nice warm-up for those dollars. I also get a lot of my royals playing deuces.

It was a little weird here in Ohio as well. Very nice weather over Christmas. Drove to AC day after Christmas with beautiful weather both ways. We've only had a little since then. Only hope to have decent weather to get on that plane on the 24th for Vegas!

I hope you get those $ royals next trip! Looks like a ROYAL year so far!

Congratulations on the Nickel Royals and it's too bad that you weren't more successful when chasing after the $1 Progressive Royal. But I do know that any $1 machine play (most especially when chasing after a Progressive Royal Flush) can end up being costly (although I on occasion have taken some very short shots at play at that level).

Yes, the Prog was at JA Nugget. There are 2 royal Prog's bank I usually play on, depending
on which one has the Higher Prog.
The nickle Prog LONG bank by Starbucks was pretty high when we first got there, but hit fairly soon.
I managed to hit it when it was Low, like $226 something like that. Was surprised it hit that low.

The OTHER $ bank also has 5c. & 10c. Keno on it, so if you got 2 Keno players
out of 4 machines with a Dollar Prog.?
Well, you can see its hard to get a seat then too. That happened alot.

I don't know WHY casinos put Keno games amongst the Progressives. Very annoying especially
when you got dollar players Wanting to play, and can't. But thats another topic.......

Hey Bubba,

I think I know why. My thought on this is that since the casinos are more likely to get a higher percentage of the Keno players' money than the $ VP players money (due to the percentage returns that are offered), then that can help to more even-out things on the average take-in money on those machines (especially if not all machines can be taken up by $ VP players [since Keno Players are {hopefully in the casinos' eyes} playing some of the machines)!

Congrats on the nickel royals and thanks for sharing. As Judy mentioned the weather here has been weird. Hit 54 degrees yesterday. Where's the snow? Judy, hope you have decent weather January 24th.

CLV: thanks for the TR. You've inspired me to take a quick weekend in Reno (if my host can get me a comped room, that is). I usually wait until the late spring to go up because I don't like driving in the Sierras in snowy weather, but it's been dry, dry, dry there this winter. I may give the JAN prog a shot, but geez, it's one place (we all have 'em) that I just can't win at!
