The wife and I had some business to attend to up in Chico, California (about 125 miles north of San Francisco) on Sunday & Monday, so as we were driving north we decided to hit a few Indian casinos and see what they had to offer. Our drive up from San Francisco was leisurely so we took our time and just detoured to any casino that had a Highway billboard advertisement.
First stop Calusa Casino.
On a Sunday afternoon it was fairly crowded with a nice vibe. Lots of machines and tables packed on to a fairly small casino floor. They offered $10 Free play to new sign ups AND a $100 -$500 rebate on all losses incurred on the 1st day of play. The rebate was to be mailed to your house within “5 business days” and was of course in the form of Free play. Wow! Now normally I would jump all over that $1,000 rebate offer (me & the wife combined) but I was really cash poor on the trip and I wasn’t absolutely sure we would get back up to the Calusa Casino within a year to redeem the Free play. I should have made the $1,000 play.
Calusa had an enormous bingo hall in the back and it was packed on a Sunday afternoon. We played a short pay Dueces Wild machine and managed to turn our $20 FP into $26.50 real bread and then we jumped back in the chariot and kept driving north.
Next stop Rolling Hills Casino.
Swung by and grabbed a few friends who live in Artois, California and took them to the Rolling Hills Casino for dinner. They lived 5 miles away but had never been.
Rolling Hills Casino gave us each $10 in Free play (we were all new members) and we turned that FP into $43.00 in real loot. My friends had a mighty laugh when I showed them how easy it was to get a little free cash with very little risk. We then had dinner in the Casino at their steakhouse “Timbers.” Very good steak, pork chops, good wine list, ice cold draft beer. It was $130 for four for dinner. Very good meal!
After dinner we, Manny & I, the girls were chatting over a glass of wine at the bar, hit the Blackjack tables for a few hands. I won three hands in a row at $15 per, for $45 in profit. My friend bought in for $100, played and lost two hands, shoved his remaining $70 bucks into the betting circle and got a Blackjack for a nice $105 hit, so he walked with a super fast $75 profit. Solid casino with 3/2 Blackjack and all the slots and VP you might want. It’s right off Interstate 5 and I give the place my seal of approval- whatever the hell that means.
Next stop Cache Creek Casino.
We hit Cache Creek Casino late in the afternoon on the next day. I have seen their TV advertisements for years and had heard it was nice- it was very nice.
Cache Creek’s Player’s club gave us each (two of us now) $25 in casino credit. Cool! It was good in any outlet for anything except Free play or booze. It was even valid at their gas station.
We strolled around the casino- big place. Very nice! A real Vegas feel. We watched a guy hit a $10,000 hand pay on a $1 777 Slot mchine. He was thrilled. Lots of tables, slots, VP, bars, live music, food choices, etc. We had dinner at the Café. It is a nice Café with attached full bar- real good meal, and totally free. We then slowly cruised the entire casino floor. Saw some cat in High Limit betting $3K per hand at Baccarat, he must have had 80-100 "purples" ($500 chips) in front of him. I'd call that High Limit. We managed to win $50 on 9/6 DDB VP and then hit a bonus round on KITTY GLITTER (LOL!) for a $47 profit. We walked out of Cache Creek with full stomachs and $97 of their scratch. I officially give Cache Creek my seal of approval- they better pay me for that!
One more stop the following day, River Rock Casino
Drove up to Santa Rosa for a little work on Wednesday the 11th and took time to swing by River rock Casino in Geyserville.
Beautiful location in the heart of Wine Country. The casino gave both of us $10 each in Free play and we turned that into $25 in actual cash. Walked around a bit. The casino is in need of a little TLC. The place is actually a giant "tent" built to last a long long time. You only know it's a tent if you look up at the ceiling and see the unusual supporting structure.
Nice little High Limit area with a gorgeous balcony view. Hit four 3's on a .25 DDB machine and walked out of River rock with a $85 profit. That was fine for the 1 hour it took to check things out. Not too sure we would return as the place was really cramped and packed with machines and just needed some real attention. Showing it's age perhaps? They did have plenty of 9/6 JoB VP and all the popular slots.
