Airport - Flew Southwest out of Detroit, direct flights both ways. No major problems, left 1 hour late from Las Vegas to come home. Just really tired from being up most the night.
Dollar - Always used Dollar for car rental for past 10 years. Didn't have car ready with my name for express. Told me to choose what I wanted out of mid-size. Poor inventory of cars, picked a Nissan that had almost 40,000 miles on it. Rough ride, but it got me to places I wanted to go. Price was alright. Didn't complain.
Hotel - Always at El Cortez for at least 10 years. Can't beat the price, all comped. Room was on 15th floor. Nice view of strip, but doesn't seem as bright as it use to be looking down the strip. Maybe too many buildings in the way. Had fruit basket in room, at that all within 2 nights.
Eats - Most meals at El Cortez, had $100 comp to use. I usually eat on the cheap side. Happy with hamburger, sour dough melt, onion rings. Once ordered porterhouse, med. rare, which was very good. Drove to Babystacks for pancakes. Had honey wheat pancakes which were good. Don't go for all that sweet stuff. There bacon was good and thick. Almost like jerky.
Gambling - OK, this was my best time of all other times. First had 2 royal flushes at El Cortez for $1000 a piece. Then 4 aces with kicker for $500. Then was making coupon run downtown. Got to Four Queens and used 10 free play coupon. Was using on video poker machine that just kept hitting 4OAKS and one straight flush. Played quarters, walked away with $300. Next day went back to same machine, played as 50 cent. Within couple of minutes, royal flush for $2000.
So got back home to wife, she was very happy with money I brought back and boxes of candy from El Cortez for hitting jackpots. So now she wants to go in January for our 42nd anniversary. So that is now all reserved for end of January.
