One Day at the Horseshoe Cleveland

Well the wife and I woke up Sunday morning with no real plans so decided to head to the Horseshoe for a little gambling. On the way we stopped at Panera Bread for breakfast. Gotta love those sausage and gouda quiche's. Onto the casino we go.

Very litlle traffic on our way into Cleveland and we self park in the garage. Not real busy at 10:00am in the casino this morning. We make our way up the escalator to the second floor and get comfy at the $1 9/6 JOB machines with a progressive royal at $4120. Proceed to lose our bankroll for this denomination so we move over to the .25 8/6 JOB so we don't go broke in the first hour. Not much happening here as we can not hit a four of a kind and are not really hitting many flushes or full houses. Within about two hours of arrival we are out of our bankroll and decide to take a little stroll over to the mall and hit the ATM.

After a nice little walk we are loaded with more ammo to hit the poker machines again. A very quick stop back at the $1 JOB with the royal now at $4150 and we decide we best move back to the quarters. Play there until we are down to our last twenty and decide we are finished for the day. Strolling past the very loud Baccarrat tables to see what all the screaming and yelling is about. We stand and watch for a few minutes while this table is having a blast screaming and yelling after each win. Mostly green chip players and one or two black chippers. Wow I have never seen so many people having so much fun at this game.

Well I get the great idea that we might as well spend that last twenty in the $5 double diamond machines. Good idea in about three minutes we turn that last twenty into eighty dollars. We have a few slot machines that we also like to play here so off we go to the 2 cent goldfish. After about an hour here we are now up to over $140. We play a couple of other 2 cent machines and end up with over $220. This is where we really screw up. Back to $1 JOB and two minutes later down to $170. Next up .25 8/6 JOB. This goes much better as we play for at least another hour and finally decide it is lunch time and quit with $150. On the way out we see a bartender that we know and he says you are staying for the car give away aren't you? Tells us that last night there were only 63 people that swiped thier cards to enter. This really makes no sense to me but if true we definately need to be here for this drawing.

We finally swipe our card to get our free parking pass and decide to go out for lunch/dinner. About a quick 15 minute drive to the far east of Cleveland and we are pulling into Abeulo's Mexican for lunch. Seated at bar and wait 15 minutes and never acknowledged. Go back to host stand and ask for a table in a different area so that we can get service. From here on out everything is fantastic at this meal. About three quarters of the way through dinner the manager comes to our table and apologizes and says that our whole check is on her. Score.

Dinner is over and back to the horseshoe we go. We get back around 4:30 and head straight for the .25 8/6 JOB. Well we finally start getting some really good play. Hit a straight flush then a bunch of four of a kinds. By 5:30 we are back to where we started the day with entire bankroll in tact. Dumb me wants another crack at the $1 JOB so we move over there and by 5:50 we are back to the hundred we took out of the ATM.

Over to the bar we stroll to find seats near where the drawing is as it starts at 6:00 and goes until 8:00. Great seats to watch the big game also. I order a Great Lakes beer for me and the wife and the bartender tells me $4. I am shocked and ask why so little and he says $2 until the end of the game. Oh no. Change of plans. $2 beers the superbowl and the car giveaway and an hour drive home. Thank goodness for I-Phones. I get online and check total rewards website and score a free room for the night at the Ritz Carlton. SCORE Yes I will have another beer please.

Well we watch the game and drink way to much beer. Great idea on getting that room. Do not get called for the car drawing, but a young 20's something guy from the Baccarrat table early this afternoon actually won a brand new Porsche. Was really glad for him as I know how excited I would have been to be in my early twenties and have a brand new ride like that. After the game we head over to the Ritz.

Very nice room but nothing extremely special considering it is the Ritz Carlton. Been to Holiday Inns nearly as nice.

Woke up early this morning and got back home so the misses could get to work on time.

All in all a very fun day and only lost what we planned on for the day and got a free meal and a free room for the night.
Wow - cool TR. Bottom line you had a great time. My husband and I spent Sat/Sun down at the Horseshoe in Hammond, IN...we had similar results on the $1 9/6 JOB machines. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the report!

Sorry to read about your losses but that can happen with especially $1 9/6 Jacks because with a short bankroll, it just doesn't go far.

If I have a session at $1 9/6 Jacks, I'd have a loss limit of $240 for each playing session.

Does the 8/6 .25 poker have progressives on 4 of a kinds, straight flush etc? I was there last May and played something on the second floor that had the little progressives. My husband and I really like those type of machines, and I want to know if that is still there. We are planning on visiting on Feb. 16th.

Sounds like you had a fun day!

Thanks for the report. Sounds like you had a good time, and a free room to boot!!
The machines with the progressive 4 OAK, Straight Flush, Royal Flush, and Sequential Royal are 8/5.
Cool report. Im got a comp night there, Ritz, on March 20th to see the Heat play the Cavs.
Thanks for the info on the progressive VP.
I sure hope you can bring the Cavs some luck as I would love nothing better than to see the Cavs whip my old buddy from the Akron St. Vincent St. Mary's Irish team. Really used to enjoy watching that boy play high school basketball. Really wish he would have tried to take Akron U. to a national championship. Now that would have been a championship Lebron could have been proud of.
Thanks for the TR. Glad you had such a great time after a bad start. We just spent Thursday and Friday at HS Cleveland. We really like the Ritz. We played those 9/6 JOB quite a bit with good and bad results. I did have 2 straight flushes. The progressive wasn't very high. I hit it once a few months ago when the progressive was around $4260. We played on hubby's card yesterday and ended up getting over 2500 points so he will get the 5000 bonus. We were there for the 2 car drawings and no luck getting called. There are 10 winners each day who get a chance at the car and 9 of them get $500 freeplay. I am surprised that they are giving away a car every day in February. It wasn't nearly as crowded as it was for some of the past drawings. I did get called last Wednesday when I went for senior day and got $55 freeplay which was kinda nice.

I didn't know that the beers were cheaper at the bars durning the game. Drinks are very cheap in the diamond lounge and you can take them out all day once you have signed in.
