Packrat's Halloween Trip Oct 24-Nov 3rd

Oct 24th
We headed into town for several reasons. One to check on our properties in Seven Hills and also to enter a couple of Slot Tournaments one at the Flamingo and one at Treasure Island. Rented our car from Alamo using the bjs.com travel coupon worked great for $40 off our 10 day rental. Our first few nights were spent at Harrah's on a $300 Slot offer with room as well as a back to back reservation with me. We churned the $300 slot play into just a little over $300 cash at a short pay VP at the bar.

We always stay in the Carnaval Tower poolside view which now they charge $15 upgrade for. Since being a fallen Diamond member at Platinum we never seem to get our room until after about 400pm whereas before as Diamond we got it at 900am. Oh well....
As usual we went over to Casino Royale and played our free play for the month. Worked out great this year as we got our free play in Oct and also in November. Didn't win anything but did cash out about $25.

Checked out the Palms and it's just not the same without the good VP schedules. Played a little 9/6 Job just to keep the card active. Did go to see Frankie Moreno at the Palms Lounge $7 on Tuesday at 1000pm. Great band with horns and a string section and apparently its the place to be seen. Saw Gordie Brown who sat in with the band as well as the singer for Bowie Zowie and other local musicians. Great show. Guess he also plays at the M Resort on Fridays and is slated for a spot at the Stratosphere.

Wed Oct 26th
We always go to the 50+ days at the M Resort as they give out free stuff ie: wine and get our free play for the month. Last time we were in town I won a drawing for $500 cash.

My wife and I sat down and played our free play on the 9/6 JOB quarters and during the free play my wife got a royal so she was $1,000 richer. I was able to cash out my free play at $30 so that worked out well.
We also entered a free 50+ slot tournament which required some play to enter. I ended up getting second place for $500 free play which we turned into $525 cash by churning it through in the 9/6 JOB quarters. We had a very nice dinner in Anthony's Steakhouse at the M Resort which also allows you to order off the Oysterhouse menu too. Great steak and the Shrimp bisque soup was fantastic. The Deli also has great Matzo Ball soup too.

Thursday Oct 27th
We checked into the Treasure Island for our first stay there. Thanks for the tip via LVA archives as to what part of the Hotel to stay in. We asked for and got the 30th floor South Tower South Strip view poolside. That view was fantastic! We could see the Volcano going off and at the same time saw the Bellagio fountains in the distance as well as the pool. That elevator bank only services floors 25-30 so it was quick getting up and down. We also spent some time by the pool and really enjoyed the pool area. They have DJ on the weekends. We played the 50cent $1 JOB game there but did nothing but put money in with no return. Wife had fun in the slot tournament but didn't cash. Ate at Cantor's which always is good.
Spent 3 days at TI and liked it so well we stayed a couple more. Also my wife played in the Flamingo Slot tournament but won nothing. We did eat at Margaritaville as we love their corn chowder and used our Harrahs comps. Both Margaritaville and Treasure Island (only outside by the Pirate ships) use Island Oasis Pina Colada mix which is fruit based vs the others which use cheaper ingredients tastes much better.

Monday Oct 31st
Kept our room at Harrahs as we always like to be down by the Piano Bar at Night to see the costumes and crazies that float in from the Carnaval Court. This year didn't dissapoint. Saw many very imaginative costumes everything from the Monster from Predator to a simple costumes that worked like one girl with a white apron dressed like the Progressive girl. Ate at PF Changs at Planet Hollywood and used our Harrahs points.

Tuesday Nov 1st
Checked into the M for two nights high floor strip view.
Back to the M for the 50+ slot tournament and also evening drawing. Didn't do so well on the slot tournament but low and behold won $1,000 in slot play in the evening drawing. Churned the $1,000 into $1,200 due to a couple of straight flushes on the 9/6 quarters. Took quite a while to run it though but had fun doing it. Went back and had another great meal at Anthony's Steakhouse too.
During our trip we also ate at The Noodle Exchange at the Gold Coast for a great meal. I had Beef and onion flat noodle and a couple of other things. We also ate breakfast at a non casino restaurant which has 4 locations around town. It was called The Cracked Egg. We always have the Joes scramble which is really enough for two.

We also hit The Original Pancake House at Green Valley Ranch for the Irish Omlette one of our favorites.

Although all in all we ended up slightly in the minus column for the trip it was a great trip. Can't wait to get back.

Thanks, Packrat (raaajaaa) for your report!

I'm happy that team Packrat's loss does not seem to be bad especially due to the two Royals that the team achieved.

I was in town from very early 10/31 until 11/3 and tried to set up a meet at El Cortez on 11/2 and so too bad that we could not meet up!

Yes that would have been fun to meet up and compare notes. I was sad to see the $1 10/7 DB progressive gone from the Palms. I missed not eating at Simon Restaurant at the Palms. I love the atmosphere there at night and I still have some old comps to burn up also.

Also missed Hugos at the Four Queens another stellar Restaurant. Guess I will just have to plan another trip!
Since we were in Vegas for 10 days we had some laundry to do. As always, a day before we left I took our clothes to the Green Valley Coin Laundry aka "Fluff and Fold" 2843 No Green Valley Pky Henderson 702 434-0095. We had our clothes washed, folded and hung up for $1 a pound 10lb minimum. Clothes came back clean and folded in the suitcase. A nice treat and they always do a great job! Found out about this place from a post from a LVA member. It has served us well ever since.

Wow! I didn't know that Palms had a $1 10/7 DB Machine with a Progressive Jackpot! That sounds nice, but I've not really had enough of a bankroll to work with playing that kind of game.

I definitely have liked that casino but it has just been too high end for me to get much out of them although they have sent me offers for somewhat discounted rooms.

So, what is in an Irish Omelet?

Corn chowder at Margaritaville...intriguing.

And, interesting about the Pina Colada mix.

Thanks for a short and interesting report!
Here are the ingredients of an Irish Omlette. "Our fluffy, oven-baked omelette filled with our homemade hash, a blend of kosher corned beef, potatoes, onions and aged cheddar".
We split the order as there is enough for two.
I can't wait to get back to Vegas!
Thanks...sounds wonderful!
You were both so lucky!!
Wonderful TR-- Congrats on playing w/ an edge.
