Part 2 of 2 : Our Annual Fall Trip (We Love Uber!!!)

Background: Wifey and I go to Vegas every Fall..We enjoy Football and the comfortable weather. We arent fine diners or spa treatment people. We enjoy the shows, food and non stop action. We are 40somethings from NJ. We go to AC for a night a few times a year but nuttin compares to Sin City. We like to try new places/ things to do each time we go as well as some must-do each time we visit. We enjoy VP/ $1 Slots/betting NFL. This trip was for 7 nights 11-4 to 11-11..We stay on the strip/Harrahs for half the week then move to The Orleans and slow the pace down for R&R.

Tuesday 11/8
We both slept well. We have been going at a steady pace up and down the strip, seeing shows, lounge acts and gambling We are ready to slow pace down and move to our second home for the next three days The Orleans. They give us nice offers
(Rooms comped, $100 FSP, & $100 food credit) We enjoy their total package in one location. We like their restaurants, buffet, lounge acts, and players club. There rooms are big and the movie theater now have the recliner seating. We slow things down and don’t really plan anything and go with the flow. R&R

We UBER there from Harrahs ($8) and were able to check in at 11am. We were on the 16th Floor and had a view of the strip looking at the new ATT arena/ NYNY and all the way to Mirage.

We went to Players club to get new cards and the Boothling gave us an update on daily promotions. The Orleans was giving a 3 piece table settings for 300 pts in. She also said The Goldcoast was giving away Black Fleece jackets as well. We decided to partake in both promotions. Wifey hit again on the $1 2x3x4x slot right off the bat on her for twenty she put in.

We had 300 points on our card in no time. We weren’t going to travel home with the table settings so I brought it upstairs to our room. We would leave it for the girl who cleaned our room ( we also tipped for each day). We then hit Bigs Als Oyster Bar for their famous seafood chowder for lunch. Delicious and filling as always. We then took their courtesy shuttle to GoldCoast. The shuttle now stops at the High Roller Wheel behind the Linq. Last year it stopped at Ballys. We had our Fleeces in no time. Nicest swag we have gotten to date.

We headed back to Orleans to see a flick at the Orleans Century 18 located on the second floor. As mentioned before they offer the recliner seating. We chose “The Accountant” starring Ben Afleck. Enjoyed the storyline and overall enjoyed the movie. Tuesdays movies are discounted.

After the movie we went to the Fridays for dinner. There was no wait and had apps and split some rack of ribs. The food was tasty and service was excellent. Paid with points

After this we gambled for a short while with no big hits. W realized that presidential election results should be coming since it was 3 hour ETZ happening and wanted to see what was going on so we went upstairs around 8pm. You couldn’t tell what was going on in the casino as none of the TV had any channels with the election coverage. We turned on the TV and were shocked what was happening there was absolutely no buzz going on downstairs. We watched the local govt election coverage as well. TenToesUp.zzzzz zzzz

Wed 11/9

Sun coming up ealry...

We woke up and went to the Courtyard Café for breakfast, It is currently being remolded so it has been relocated to the space across from the buffet. I had the steak and eggs. The servings are large and tasty and service was excellent. Paid with points. OBTW we usually don’t eat like this all the time but we are on vaca. After breakfast we went to the kiosk to put in our entrees for Pick the Pros Football contest which is featured at all Boyd properties. Also they had another promotion 300 pts for a serving tray. More gifts for the cleaning lady.

On this day in the afternoon we decided to see “The Girl On The Train” movie. Good storeyline with a twist at the end. Once again we had the reclining seats. When we go out of the theater the casino was packed with Silverheads as it was Senior Day on Wednesdays. There was a DoWop band “The NiteKings” playing at the Bourbon Street Lounge. The place was jumpin on a Wed at 5pm.

We went back to Als Oyster Bar and sat at the counter. We saw on their menu that they had ½ price drinks at happy hour at the counter. We had some Hurricanes and Mojitos. They don’t have a bartender so the cooks have to make the drinks. The gentleman who served us said he was happy to make them because he needed break from the hot steam in the open kitchen. They were quite tasty and he made them strong. For dinner we went to The Buffet it was Prime Rib night. Both our cuts were how we liked them. They have excellent key lime pie too. I think their offerings are good and an overall good value for a buffet.

After this we went upstairs to freshing up. There was no entertainment that night so our plan was to put some time in gambeling . We put in a couple hours that night. We played Ultimate- X DDB for quite a long time. We enjoy this game a lot. There was a bank of $1 DBVP Progressive machines with a Royal was over 7K. There was a lady that was there the whole night. She never moved and smoke cig after cig and complained loudly. She even had someone get her Chinese food which she ate at her machine and stunk up the place. I think her plan was to keep everyone away casue she wanted to hit that Royal herself. When we went upstairs she was still there. The next morning I checked and the progressive royal did not hit and was up to $7,400.00..yikes!!!

Thur 11/10 last full day

We wanted a quick breakfast so we went to Fudruckers in Orelans Foodcourt. I noticed that the Poker Room had a huge line of people signing up for the daily tourneys. I walked by later on that day and the poker area was packed. We decided to go to the Rio to play some Kiss mini golf rather then go to a movie. We Uber over to the Rio by noon. The casino floor was dead. We played some roulette as we had the a to ourselves and the table had low min of $5. The dealer was fun and we hit a couple of numbers to stay even. We next played KISS minigolf. It was fun and it took about an hour.

We went back to the Orleans as the new Baliwick Gastro Bar was having grand opening at 4pm. This replaced Brendens Irish Bar. We got seats at the bar. A lot of Boyd“suits” were there as well as other Boyd employees from sister casinos who were there to check out the new digs. A musician was on the stage w acoustic guitar doing all the slow rock anthems. The bar and lounge area is very rustic and dark tones with a wooden floor and black pool tables. The trendy menu features a lot of small plates, sandwiches and flatbreads. We had cornbeef eggrolls with a 1000 Island tasing dipping sauce. They had over hundred craft beers and a huge list of martinis on their drink list. We were impressed that Boyd is keeping up with the times.

We choose to use our $100 comp at their Alder & Birch Steak House which had recently opened earlier in the year. It is located were the Dos Caminos Mex restaurant was. We had 7pm reservations but when we were seated the place was only half full. We both had surf & turf, small filet and lobster tail. The meal and service was excellent. Comparable to a Del Fricos/Mortons hi- end steakhouse. After this our plan was to hit the floor for the last time and try to hit it big. I got luckey and hit a $1 10x Slot machine and couple of quads on $1 DDB VP. The $1 DB VP Royal I had mentioned earlier still hadn’t been hit but had no such luck.

We ended up at the Boubon Street Lounge where the HNLV band where playing. We were just gonna have a nightcap and watch a set. We ended up staying for a couple of sets and drinks. The band is originally from Hawaii and the bands names is derived from HoNolulu and Las Vegas. They are a good time and cover every spectrum of music. We ended up crashing late. We had a 1pm flight the next day.

We had another great trip. We skipped FSE, Ellis Island Ribs, Franks Tiki Hut this year but will make sure they are in the mix next trip. We only had to pay for a few meals. We came home with a good part of our money so I call that a winning trip. I even it hit a machine in the airport for $300. Now back to the grind, watching our diets and paying bills. Our yearly vegas trip is the one time of the year we just focus and enjoy ourselves.

Uber drop/pickup spot in front of The Orleans...Airport ($10)

see ya next year!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great report, we love all the pics. Wife and I are going back again in Jan for a 5 night stay at MGM on the strip. We still get great room deals. Have not been to the Orleans in years but will check it out again. Thank you guys so much for your report.

FREDFRED
Enjoy , Hope u win big in Jan.
Thanks for the report as well as for the photos, and nice going on the hits and for coming home with most of your $!

As for the gifts for points promotions, if you had enough desire to actually keep the stuff, since you didn't want to haul it back home, an alternate could have been to go to a post office and mail the stuff home.

Thanks for the great TR - it was fun reading all about your adventures in Las Vegas!
