Pat's and Dick's Great Race Midwest Trip

Here is the plan for Pat’’s and my Caesars "great race to rewards" trip.
Tues. 9/6/2011 Horseshoe Hammond, IN.
Wed. 9/7/2011 Horseshoe Elizabeth, IN.,
Thur. 9/8/2011 Harrah’’s Metropolis, IL,
Fri. 9/9/2011 Harrah’’s St Louis, Mo.
Sat. 9/10/2011 Harrah’’s Joliet, IL. ( Maybe not )
Tues. We went to Horseshoe Hammond. We Valet parked for free because of our Handicapped plates, other wise they want $10 WOW!!! The Horseshoe is large and I think it is a OK casino.
Pat loves it because when we were playing duces wild she said oh I got a royal without a duece. I have been kidding her about that because she sounded (to me) that she wanted a duece. I shut up after she cut me in, BIG TIME!!
As some of you know I have been having trouble walking and I have been using a scooter for the last few trips. Well I found a used scooter and bought it. The scooter breaks down and fits in the cars very nice. I use valet parking and the guys help load and unload it.
After the Horseshoe we went to Blue Chip I like the casino but we had the worst room that we have had in years. When we went to checkout I talked to a host and she comped he room and a breakfast buffet. After she comped us I then told her about the crappy room, she told me that I should call her and we will get a room in the new hotel. Maybe we will who knows.
Wed. Sept. 7, 2001
We went to Horseshoe Southern Indiana, Elizabeth. I hate this place. It started with both the valet and bell man refusing to help unload my scooter. It is not the guys fault but a new policy of this joint. Our reservation was messed up no two bed room but we got one after a while. The casino is about a half a mile from the hotel and that is a fact. I will not come back here unless we need a room for a trip some where.
I bought two MGD and came up to the room to type this report and will go to bed early because I am beat from last night and the trip down here. So far we have 6 casinos for the Great race and I think that is all you can get but we will swipe and put a point or two on all of the cards we have, my partners know what I mean. LOL. We did not like the Diamond Lounge at all they had some food but no servers or bus people. BTW can you tell that I am crabby? The room was ok. We lost just a little.

Thur. Sept. 8, 2011
We had breakfast and packed up the car and took off for Metropolis ,Il. To get to Metropolis you go through Kentucky. I have this to say about the drivers we meet in Kentucky, I wish that the whole USA drove as GREAT as they did!!!!!!!!!!!!! By this I mean when I put on my signal to change lanes, or to turn they let you in. WOW! Also when they passed they went back into the right lane imagine that!!!
We arrived at Metropolis had help unpacking the car and scooter also they helped packing up. The room was ready when we checked in and it was what we wanted. We scanned all of the cards and played on all of them. Pat didn’t like the boat because of all the floors, etc. The casino was ok with me because I sat at the bar and watched the Packers win. BTW all of the casinos on this trip did not comp alcohol drinks.
Friday Sept.9,2011
Had breakfast and checked out, On the way to St Louis we called Joliet and canceled our room. St Louis looks like a fine city from what we saw passing through. Our room was ready and was what we ordered. We liked the casino and the Diamond Lounge. We swiped the cards and got the points for The Great Race to Rewards etc.
Check out went fine and we were off to home. This was a 6 hr. trip with a lunch break and a few rest stops. The whole trip was 1367 miles, it went without a hitch and the traffic was ok almost all of the time.
I am glad we went but we prefer to stay more then one night at each place.
So we got our 60,000 reward credits coming. We had a cost/ loss of $965 plus gas and other credit card charges no more then $300. So not a bad trip all rooms were comped. All in all a nice trip.
I hope you were not bored with my report.
Good luck Always,
Dick From Milwaukee

Dick:

Your trip reports are welcome! Thanks for taking the time to write.

What are you trying to win/get for the "Great Race"?

Thanks, Dick for the report! I'm happy to read any report and so no report is going to be too boring for me!

And I'm happy that Pat got a Royal -- excellent for her!

So 60,000 points seems to me to be a decent enough prize for completing the Great Race (John in Dallas -- that is what the 60,000 points that he mentioned was earned from -- from going to Harrah's connected casinos in three different states).

John,
Caesers ( Harrahs) is running a promotion until Oct. 3,2011 that if you visit 3 Caesers casinos in different locations like Las Vegas, Rino, Laughlin etc. and put one point on your card you get 15,000 ($150) reward credits. Then for every new location you get another 15,000 RC.so you can get up to $600 in reward credits.
I hope this helps explain this promotion.
Good Luck Always,
Dick From Milwaukee

Enjoyed your report...those points are fantastic ... And you worked hard for them ... Good for you ... Enjoyed your comments about driving through Kentucky... I am originally from there ... My husband loves the way drivers wave at you and if you ever ask for directions which he did once ... Well let's just say he had some difficulty with "just drive down yonder a bit" and it's right over yonder aways ... And this was in the city ...

Thanks for sharing ...

Thanks, Dick for spelling out exactly what this promotion is!

Dick,
Thank you for posting your trip report. Now that you have your points are you planning your next trip to Las Vegas? We will be hitting a few more Wisconsin casinos for a few weeks, then we will be heading back to Vegas. Did you enjoy the rest of the trip? Did you see neat things along the way?

Mary,
We are going to Vegas Oct 12 to 19. Three days at Bally's and four nights at The Orleans.

Congrats on completing the Great Race. We just finished ours at a few of the same props. Congrats to Pat for her royal w/o a deuce. I get a lot of my royals playing deuces.

Glad to see you found yourself a scooter. So sorry to hear that they treated you poorly at Horseshoe Indiana. We really liked it there. It really is a long walk from the hotel to casino though. The diamond lounge was a little strange in that they give you those little plates. They are very slow at serving. Saturday night they had some really good food, fried chicken, sausage & kraut etc. We arrived on Thursday at 8:30 when they had happy hour when drinks are free. Those people were sure loading up on drinks, and apparently were able to take them out. At 9:00 the place emptyed out, lol.

We felt that Kentucky was a nice state to drive in as well. We were very fortunate that we didn't get any big delays with the problems with the bridge being out. We heard some horror stories about long delays.

Good luck on your Oct. trip!
Judy ,
The next time you go to The Horseshoe Sothern Indaina use the shuttle it runs every three minutes. The suttle is a large golf cart.
