Monday July 23
Dennis & I went to our local salon to get ready for Vegas. Dennis got a massage. Last year he had some back problems so this time I wanted him to be in much better shape. I got a haircut, facial and manicure and pedicure (lucky green nails (money) so the nail girl said. Now on to Vegas!
Tuesday July 24
Our flight left at 2:10. The flight was great and we landed and got our car around 4:00. We reserved a mid size car from Dollar which we hoped would be a Focus like we had in January. They had a Kia and Dennis went to see if we could get something else. We ended up with a Crown Vic. I know some of you wouldn't like this, but we are geezers who have owned a Grand Marquis for the last 15 years and really like it. So on to the Rio. We both had an offer for 3 nights stay minimum with either $225 cash for air reimbursement or $275 free play. This is the best offer we ever had short of the free junkets.
We checked in at the Rio and got room 1810 which is the diamond floor in the Ipanema tower. We wanted to be sure that we had a coffee pot and they assured us that we would have complimentary coffee with the Keurig coffee makers. We checked out the room and headed to 4Q's. I had and offer here for $80 free play and $75 food. We checked into room 1712 and went to eat at Magnolia's. We did not plan on staying there, but we had to book the room for the food credit.
Harv (Harv29) called to see if he could join us there as he had a change of plans for dinner. We waited in line (wow, I love my diamond perks) and Harv joined us after we were seated. We all had the prime rib. I used the 2 for 1 coupon and the meal was around $33. We settled in to play some JB. Harv played for awhile and then headed back to his room on the strip. Dennis went up to the room to take a break and watch TV while I played on. I was only down my original $80 when we left so I was pleased.
Wednesday July 25
We were planning to go to the pool this morning. Dennis wasn't ready to get up when I was so I went down to the Casino to play my free play. We planned to play the 8/5 BP machines. I played about an hour and a half and finally lost it. I did have 451 tier credits with 628 bonus. We went to the pool where we had lunch. Dennis had the jumbo hot dog & I had chicken tenders and shared onion rings. It was all very good, but way too much. We showered and then went to play Dennis's free play. Dennis lost $200 in less than an hour. I cashed out $325 so that was a much better session. We headed out for our annual visit to Rampart. Dennis had an offer for $30 free play and 2 buffets.
I had a very good run. I played deuces and hit 3 sets of deuces holding 3 after only a couple of hands. I also dealt a dirty royal, and I got a royal. We had the buffet which was ok for free. I left with $700. Dennis was actually +20.
When we got back to Rio, Dennis went to the room and of course, I played there. I hate to stop playing when winning, but much as I try, I can't play 24/7, lol. I played about an hour and made another $300. I ended up the day with 1192 tier credits and 2000 bonus rc's which should please CET. This was pretty decent for a Caesar's property with a decent pay scale.
Thursday July 26
Today Dennis is going with Harv & Bob (RowanB) to see the Shelby factory & museum at the Race Park Complex. I am staying at 4Q's. We met the guys at Magnolia's for breakfast. We ended up using the $75 with the only charge being a glass of wine which I had at dinner Tuesday. I was surprised to learn that 4Q's does not comp drinks. Dennis was dropped off by the guys. They had a great time and were very impressed with the Shelby Car. The Shelby Car is a Cobra hand built there one at a time for the price of $160,000 with out a motor and transmission. Dennis played for about an hour & half and was even and I ended up $80. We checked out of 4Q's and headed to ElCortez where we planned to play for awhile and then eat at Flame.
We found out we were both now Sapphire which means we will get 50% off food providing we have comp to cover. We both had 5X points. We made a reservation for 6:00 and played at the big bar at the front until then. We left $100 down for the session When we got to Flame we had Mark (he said he was the tall Mark) and he was great. We wanted to get the steak & crabs legs. We were hoping we could comp it. Mark checked our cards and said he could work it out. We had the steak & crabs legs, and shared a Caesar salad, mashed potatoes and asparagus. He had a Manhattan and I had wine. The meal was great and all comped except tip. We played after dinner and I continued with my winning ways. I decided to try a multi-strike (not a game I usually play, but dabble occasionally with Catherine(Bigfus) at Borgata in AC) I got a quad on line 4 shortly after I started and decided to leave within about 10 mins. with a $300 profit. I then got my first set of 50 cent deuces at the bar next to Flame for $500. I love this place, we usually only visit 1 day on our trips, but I usually win. Dennis not so good. We left there and headed to Palms.
We only played a short while at Palms to use the slotplay.com coupons. I did not do well and Dennis was only $10 down. We went back to Rio.
We played a last session on the $1 BP. I was even and Dennis finally came through with an $800 win as he had a nice quad run. I hope CET is happy with the play we did in limited time but at the $1 level.
Friday July 27
Today we are off to Southpoint where we have a 1 bedroom suite for 5 nights. We had room service breakfast and checked out of Rio and arrived at Southpoint probably around 12:00 pm. We were fortunate that our room was ready. Here we had room 2511. Now we have had 10,11 and 12 but different floors.
We had our luggage brought to our room. After organizing everything, we went to the pool for a little while. After the pool, we showered and went to play. Our trip in January was a slow start before SP and then we both did well at SP. This trip I am way up before SP, but things did not go so well here especially for Dennis until the brutal end. We had some great fun on nickel 50-play machines last time especially for Dennis. We started on these and Dennis bombed pretty quickly. I was doing very bad on my deuces and then changed to 10-play on BP. I was doing pretty well and finally moved to 15-play where I dealt A's with kicker (but not this game) so I, at least, bailed myself out. We were meeting Lydia (Amazon) as she was staying here for 2 nights comped with our host. We planned to go to the buffet when she arrived. I had a really great machine when she arrived so I played a little and finally said goodbye so we could eat. It was seafood night on Friday and the buffet was pretty decent. We had our coupons for 1/2 off in the fun book you get when you check in. We went back to the machine I was playing and I did finally get my #2 50cent deuces on it. Then things went downhill the rest of a very long night. Dennis only played a little while and gave up about 10:30 as his day was getting uglier. He went to the room for the night. I gave up about 4:00am. Not sure about Lydia.
To be continued
(Since this is getting way longer than I wanted, I'll take a little break here for all of you and me as well.)
