Pre-trip (Aug. 7th - 11th)

I must begin w/a little nostalgia: My first trip to Vegas was 1999 B.C. (Before Children). We stayed at the now imploded Stardust with our friends, Debbie and Steve. Amazing experience, and although I was a low-roller then, I had no idea just how low I could REALLY go.

After giving birth repeatedly between 2001 and 2004 (3 girls in 3 years); I was unable to return to Vegas until 2006. Stayed at the Excalibur in Feb. 2006 with my sister and her husband. We went on one of those horrible time-share tours that year - BIG MISTAKE. However, we earned $100 in free chips and dinner for two at the Knights of the Roundtable. Enjoyed ourselves so much in 2006, we returned to The Ex- again in Feb. 2007.

Fast forward to Summer 2009. I am now an official LVA member, and hooked on all the wonderful tips and tricks you fantastic folks out there share. I become increasingly excited about these coupon things I've just learned about called "matchplays" and "free slot play". Woo-hoo. As a new member to virtually all casinos (save the Harrah's properties). My DH and I are overrun with all the freebies thrown at us. We are tickled and excited, and best of all, come out WINNERS on our first ever five-day coupon run. If you type in the phrase: flamingo/paris trip report, all five days from that trip are still here in the LVA archives. My husband re-read them a few days ago, and was delighted they were still posted in the LVA trip report forum for us to enjoy all over again.

We returned to the Flamingo in June 2010, our first trip w/all three kids plus my sister and her husband. I didn't know if it would be the same having the kids in tow, but we had a great time together as a family and still managed to carve out some adult time.

And now, it's Vegas time again. The kids are off to Girl Scout camp on Sunday...drop off is 2:45. We have a direct flight booked from Milwaukee to Vegas, and departing at 6:00pm. Booked the Rio his time around (all four nights comped). Of course, my LVA member reward book is new, crisp, clean and completely unused. Not for long, as I'm looking forward to tearing it up - pun intended.

We've got another couple, Deb and B, joining us this trip. We happened to cross paths with them in Vegas (Summer of '09) for a night and had the best time together, so we're hoping for a repeat. They'll be joining us at the Rio 3 out of the 4 nights. Deb has never done Vegas on the cheap, she expressly asked me to show her how to make that happen this trip. First thing we did was get her signed up on LVA. She can't wait to tear into that coupon book!!

As previously stated, I've joined nearly all the players clubs in Vegas (strip and downtown) but am looking forward to joining the new Cosmopolitan and taking advantage of their $100 rebate offer.

We're planning on the following buffets for breakfast: Rio, Paris, Planet Hollywood, and The Orleans

Dinner plans include: Ellis Island (2-for-1 BBQ); The Flame @ El Co; and Gardunos at The Palms

Of course we'll be burning through the free slot play and matchplays often. I'm also trying to figure out who's providing Win Cards this year. I like to take advantage of them if it's convenient.

Thanks to a previous poster, I just purchased The Palms $40 in slot play for $25 online coupon too!

If anyone has tips or advice on other good gaming offers on or near the strip I still don't know about; I'd love to hear from you!

Well Paige, as for the Win Cards, there is a recent thread about that where I posted the address to check out where they are offered (go to https://www.wincards.com and then to the Casinos link and that will list the casinos everywhere (not only in Las Vegas) that offer them. And don't forget that the Blackjack information on them is pretty bad! I'd also encourage you to possibly get your hands on the now 2011 American Casino Guide since that has a bunch of coupons for Las Vegas and other areas around the country). And if you are a member of the Auto Club (AAA), you should be able to get the book at their offices for 20% off of list Price (which would be $18.95 Plus Tax).
Oh and speaking of the American Casino Guide, if you go to their website (at https://www.americancasinoguide.com ), not only will you find a list of what all of their coupons are, but also, go to the Casino Promotions link and check out the weekly (it comes out every Sunday) "Vegas Values" section which mentions many of the casino promotions going on.

Enjoy!

Hey Paige,

I do have another possible idea for you.

You might be able to go to the Auto Club offices in Las Vegas (if I remember correctly they are either up Sahara or Charleston -- I do know that I passed the place once upon a time) and show them (if you have it if you are a member) your own AAA card and see if that gets you a 20% Discount on the American Casino Guide (if they have it in stock).

Otherwise, In 24/7 Vegas Magazine, there may still be a coupon for 15% off of just about anything in there and with that you could get the 2011 American Casino Guide for 15% off and get other possibly great coupons as well.

You can see if the coupons in the American Casino Guide are worthwhile enough for you to get it by going to the American Casino Guide's website which is at: https://www.americancasinoguide.com and once on the site, there should be a link to the guide and what coupons are offered in it!

Enjoy and have a safe, fun and profitable trip!
