Friday, Oct. 24- Took over 4 hours to get to Vegas with a stop for gas in Barstow and a couple of spots of slow traffic between Barstow and Primm due to accidents.
Got to the Westgate a bit before 5 and checked in. Used Valet, since wife gets it free with Diamond status. Parking at the lots is $40, except at the big outdoor lot on Paradise which was $50 a day. There is a big car show at the Convention center. We had a comped Standard room with king bed. Shower, no tub in the bathroom, which is fine with us.
Headed downstairs to get show tickets for Magic! and then some dinner at the Silk Road Asian Bistro. While wife got the tickets, I sat at the International Bar for some JOB VP using freeplay. Cashed out with $20, when my wife showed up. Bummed to find the Asian Bistro was closed. Apparently their kitchen had an issue (not food related), and will be closed until early November. So we went to the food court and shared the chicken strips dinner. Nothing to write home about, but was really looking forward to Chinese food. Oh well.
First round of tourney was at 6pm, but we usually wait a half hour to let the line to play die down. While we waited we used our freeplay. Wife turned her $300 FP into $500 on prosperity link. I used my remaining FP on the firecracker game in high limit. Cashed out over $200. Gave it back playing another firecracker game and a new railroad game I had never played. Wife played it too and lost a bit.
Tourney time. Got in and out quickly. I finished my round in 4th place, wife was 16th. Two more rounds on Saturday.
Sat down at a rich little piggies game and played some losing $20, but got drinks to take into the Magic! concert. It was a good show with great energy from the bad. Knew a few songs, but first time seeing them live. Free tickets, fun time.
After the show we played a bit. Wife on the slots, me on VP. Had a good number of beers and did hit a quad 3s with a kicker for $200. Tipped the bartender $10, and looked for my wife. She ended up losing her FP winnings, but none of her bankroll. Me, not so lucky. Down a couple hundred.
Headed back to the room for the night. Gotta get ready for two rounds of play on Saturday after a morning at Tuscany and lunch at Olive Garden.
