Conference in Reno at Peppermill. Nightly conference rate for Tuscany Tower room $119(service fee of $13.56 waived for conference attendees). Hotel room was fabulous, large tv, great beds. Bathroom did have a large walk in shower with 2 shower heads and a jetted bathtub(website says soaking tub-maybe that's the same thing, but I was just expecting a nice sized tub for soaking only). TV in bathroom, amenities had an orange aroma to them. Lots of bathroom towels, face cloths, and hand towels. It only has an honor frig, so we needed to request a frig for medication. First time I've had a frig get to the room before I got up to the room from registration desk.
The Tuscany tower room elevators are right where the conference area starts, it was worth it to me to spend $20 more per night for Tuscany tower to stay closer to the conf area due to all the items from the exhibitors I had to take up to my room. Other rooms were only $99/night.
The casino areas were older looking, no really new slots. Tried vp a couple of times, and the money just flowed into the Peppermill's pocket. Be careful about hitting the "max play" button on vp machines, there are quarter machines that will max play at 10 quarters a hand. Most nickel machines were 20 nickels per hand at max play. One casino area has lots of neon and mirrors-very bright. The bathroom closest to the buffet are all gold faucets and handles, they were just missing bidets.
As part of the conference registration we were given a $50 conf credit card to use within the conference area. The Biscotti's coffee bar and the Biscotti's restaurant although right next to the ballroom being used as exhibit hall weren't included for our credit card use.
Stayed comped at Siena downtown for 2 nights, they did a really nice job of remodeling the casino and hotel/bell desk and restaurant areas. The hotel rooms while refreshed, didn't get the same rate of $ allocated apparently. Bathtubs were old and really small, they must have replaced a mirror on the back of the bathroom door with a slightly smaller mirror, but they didn't bother to patch the previous holes for the larger mirror or paint. It hasn't been busy there. I've stayed at 3 Hampton Inns this year and the bathrooms were nicer.
Casino small, but lots of variety of slots and adequate vp choices. Players club will upgrade you to their club level if you show them your current players card from Harrahs and other casino players card.
Right now they are offering new sign ups a $200 loss replacement with play, not cash. I believe if you had an account with the old Siena, you will be a new sign up.
Always go to the Silver Legacy to play, lots of slot variety, have the newest slots and a couple of "Texas Tea" machines. They were talking on the news that the Silver Legacy was filing reorganization bankrupcy so they could continue to stay open.
Harrahs,-only went to pickup a Hertz rental car. I had made a reservation to pick up the car at Harrahs and drive to the Peppermill and then return car to airport. I wasn't aware that at some locations there is just a kiosk to use to pickup your rental car. You connect to a Hertz person over the kiosk (you see them, they see you) and submit your license and credit card through the kiosk swipe. I don't like this as if you find a dent or problem with the car before you take it, I guess you have to go back to the kiosk. I found it a big waste of my time and wish I had taken the Siena shuttle car back to the airport and gotten the car at the airport.
Would love to return to Reno before the year ends.
