Thought it was going to be a super trip as I got a late mailer for a Millionaire Maker slot tournament for Saturday. With my lower play this year, it didn't include a room. So when I called to register for the tournament I also reserved a room for Friday -Sunday. Only available was a King smoking in the Spa tower, but at 8am Friday morning was able to get right into a 2 queen no-smoking in the new North Tower. Things are looking great at this point.
I did great on VP machines last visit & I headed over to play on the machines that were so good to me. The first one a 3/5/10 play machine just ate my money so I went over to the single play by the entrance door to the garden tower elevators. It was ok, let me play for 4 hours and I got to 600 tier points at a loss of $200. Only 400 more tier points to get to 1000 so I get that extra 1000 tier points. Between eating and checking in for the tournament I put another 288 tier playing slots and VP and now only need 112 more tier points. These 288 points cost me about $340. We're tired and go off to the room. Hubby agrees to get up at 4am with me to complete my last tier points before the play day changes. So with both of us playing we got it done quickly for only $20 loss. Wish I had asked him to play on my card earlier. Total loss was $560.
Of course I didn't come anywhere near the top 50 in the tournament so no freeplay for me.
I forgot to describe the wonderful room we were given. It's room 15035 a 2 queen bed non-smoking room overlooking the hotel entrance with a nice view of the lazy river pool area. There is a large shower area with only the side shower head(the silver looking square with lots of holes), no shower head on ceiling. These rooms do not have tubs. Noise level when the Saturday Dive club is going from 12pm to 6pm is not too bad, you do hear the pounding of the beat, but not the music. This room is about 5 rooms from the elevators which take you down close to the Starbucks.
They have an extremely large "Colossal Diamond" slot machine that attracted lots of attention near Starbucks. You have a choice of playing $5, $10, or $15 a spin. One lady started with $100 and ran it up to $500 before she quit. I watched a couple of other people who had between $100 and $200 when I started watching end up with over $400. I also saw a few people start with $20 and end up with nothing.
We went over to Valley View(VV) casino for a few hours Saturday to play and for our comped buffets. This used to be my favorite Valley Center buffet, but it isn't the quality it used to be. I used to always (on my Harrahs Rincon surveys) tout how much better the VV buffet was than Rincon's. I can't do that any more, Rincon has the better buffet in all areas. My gambling luck at VV was just as great as at Rincon only I wasn't tryng to earn points so we didn't play much.
Bright spot of the trip was a vast improvement in service at 'Ritas from a visit 2 trips before where we were totally ignored for 10 minutes after being seated and given chips and salsa. Food was good and service was great. I've read some TA reviews and it seems since Harrahs Rincon read my survey complaint the service has improved for all. Nice to know someone listened and made some changes.
