Today was the day DH and I awoke after a nine hour respite at 5:30 am. We were bright eyed and bushy tailed and ready for whatever Vegas had to hold. We got ready and headed over to the Palms. Tony had done a nice job making his $40 slot play last so long that he still had some free play left on his account. We went over there to burn it up. Palms has some great drink service and about 6:45 am we each had a beer in hand. I know, you’re thinking, what? A beer, BEFORE 7AM?!?!? It’s Vegas though, and I remind my friends, there is no space/time continuum here like there is in the real world. Anything goes, even beer before breakfast.
We wandered over to Gold Coast to try and use the $10 coupon I was unable to use the day before because their players club lines were so long. They didn’t open until 8am so we went back to the Rio and played some VP. I’m getting better at figuring out VP. Tony played the 100 hand multi-play and I did 50 hand. He hit quad 3’s for a win of $80. These probably aren’t the best odds machines, but we both enjoy them. So we’re just drinking, playing VP, and waiting around for the gold coast players club booth to open at 8am, then the 9am shuttle to the strip. The boothling at Gold Coast, said the $10 played the day before didn’t count as it was a new day and I had to play ANOTHER $10 to activate the coupon. So I played $10 through a penny slot to tack on the 10 points, cashed out with $7.50. Went back into the club line, got the free ten, ran it through and cashed out with another $7.50 for a grand net profit of $5. But really it’s a $5 loss because of the wasted $10 the day before. Ug. We ordered a few more beers, got in line for the shuttle at 8:45, and called Deb and B to let them know we were A). drunk already, and B). on our way to the strip. They said they didn’t believe we had already started drinking, so we had to clink our beer bottles over the phone as proof. They didn’t want to walk to Gold Coast for a shuttle or wait ‘til 10am for the Rio shuttle so they said they’d just catch a cab and meet us at the Paris buffet.
We hopped off the shuttle at Bill’s and walked to the Paris to meet our friends. Le Village buffet is also adequate, and if you don’t mind waiting in a VERY long line for a crepe or an omelet, you’ll probably enjoy it. We did neither as we were itching to get across the street to hit the new Cosmopolitan for the rebate promotion they extended. They no longer advertise or promote the rebate on losses up to one hundred, I had to ask for it specifically. After sign up, I put in my $100 cash and won $35 on my 2nd spin the dollar slots. I cashed out because I did not feel like losing $135 just to get the deal. Tony immediately went up to $120 on the wheel of fortune game, but he kept playing it until he lost it all, then went back to the players club booth where they gave him his $100 identity play credit. Deb and B also signed up and both of them also played wheel of fortune. Deb lost hers relatively quickly; however, B won $250, so of course he just cashed out. The next day, because B and I had not lost, they reset our account and we were able to lose that hundred for the rebate. All told, Tony ran his $100 through their multi-line VP and cashed out exactly with $100 for a break even. I played mine degenerately on various slots and cashed out with about $40. Considering I won $35 the day before, we only had a net loss of $25 after playing through $400…not bad.
After the Cosmo we started wandering the strip. We hit Casino Royale and Treasure Island so Deb and B could get new player sign up bonuses at both places. Tony was also considered a new member at TI because they’re under new ownership, but they said I was not. Total BS. Anyway, after a few 2-FOR-1 drinks at Kahunaville we decided to part ways (guys vs girls). Tony and B wanted to keep gambling, and Deb and I wanted to hit the pools. So we decided we’d meet up later that evening for dinner. This of course is where things got interesting.
Deb and I shuttled back to the Rio from Bally’s. As I’m wandering back to my room to change, I stop to play Zeus penny slots while I wait for a beer. This was a good call because I got my free drink AND won $14. Sweet. Deb and I meet at the pool 20 mins later with nothing but our cover ups, and room cards. We decided to order a bucket of 5 beers for $30. Bartender gave us a hard time because we did not have ID. Silly. Who brings their identification to the pool? We had to get a manager, who had to verify who we were then they let us charge the beers to Deb’s room. Next we wanted to go to the Voo pool. They also required a photo ID. Are you kidding me? We invoked the manager’s name again, and they eventually let us in. I think if you have your room key, they should be able to swipe it and if you can give them your last name and room number, that ought to be enough. It was very off putting to have them constantly demanding identification from us while we’re trying to lounge and enjoy ourselves at the pools. At this point, I cannot share too much. Our friend B. is also an LVA member and may read this trip report. And what happens at the Voo pool with two attractive housewives and a bucket of beers, must remain there. Suffice to say, we enjoyed our time away from the husbands on this beautiful afternoon!!
We met back up with the guys on the strip about 8:30pm. I was starving after an afternoon of topless frolicking and shenanigans at the Voo pool. Deb and B were not hungry, so they decided to head over to Cosmo and redeem their identity play. Tony and I ordered some chicken nachos at Yolo’s at Planet Hollywood before catching Peepshow at 9:30. We had two free tickets to Peepshow, and were very glad we went. It was a good performance and we were both entertained. I’d rate it a 4 out of 5. Definitely one of the best shows I’ve seen over the last 5-6 years in Vegas.
After the show, we met up w/our friends again, caught the late night Bellagio fountains, then shuttled back to the Rio. It was almost midnight by the time we reached our room. Deb and B stayed out a while longer looking for a place to get some food at Rio. They told us the next day the only place they could find open after midnight was Burger King…gross. Glad we had those tasty chicken nachos at Yolo’s!
