Route 66 Xmas casino trip, Dec. 20-30

Dec. 29- Flagstaff to Las Vegas

Woke up a little before 6 and headed to the fitness room.  No one there, so I had the place to myself for a 30 minute treadmill workout. Before heading upstairs was going to use a computer in the business center, but neither of them were in service. Oh well.  After we all showered, we headed downstairs for the hot breakfast. Same as every Hampton, but this one had sausage links. YES! (The things an old dude gets excited about.)  Loading the car was quick, as we wasted no time in the 28 degree temperature.

Before our 3 and a half hour drive to Las Vegas, we filled up at Speedway. Gas was $3.19 a gallon. Took $47 to fill up, but only needed half a tank. Already missing the $2/gallon we paid in OK and NM. 40 to Kingman and then the 93, was the route we took.

Made it to Vegas a little after noon. Ate at Steak and Shake at the Southpoint. The Coronado Cafe had a half hour wait, and decided to get something quick. I had the patty melt and fries. Wife had a chicken sandwich and fries, while our son had a steak sandwich and fries. No shakes for us today.

We played a little. Wife did well on some of the old school slots by the poker room, hitting well on Kitty Glitter, Cats, and Twin Win.  She made a $200 profit. I dropped a couple hundred playing the Gems Wild Tiles, and DDB at the bar by the poker room. Our son had gone to a card shop caddy corner to the Southpoint, and when he returned he played two hands of Blackjack at a $25 Table. Bet $50, and won. Pressed it and lost to a dealer 3 card 21, as he had 20. Bummer.

Headed to the Westgate for a comped night. The Silk Road Asian Bistro was closed, but was able to get a walk up seating for the 3 of us at Benihanas. Wife had $100 Food credit, so we used that. I had sirloin steak and chicken, while wife had filet mignon and chicken. Our son had the spicy chicken. Food was good and our chef was awesome. Put on a great show.  We always enjoy our experience at Benihanas.

After eating we went to play, as wife and I were expecting to use our free play.  We found out that the free play ended on Dec. 25th. Drats! I just ended up playing DDB at the international bar and sportsbook. Dropped a hundred at the international bar, but made most of it back hitting quad 7s and quad 10s at the sportsbook. Wife and son played Blackjack at a $10 minimum table. 6/5 payout for blackjacks.  Both did well, up $100, until a dealer change, and my son called this dealer The Cooler, as no one at the table was winning.  They left both up about $50.

Wife decided to play the Bank Buster game, and buy bonuses. She started with $100, and cashed out with $250. I had moved back to the International bar because they had live music, a guy that played guitar and sang 70s and 80s songs. My son had gone to his room to relax, but came down to the bar and we played DDB VP, drank some drinks and listened to music.  I hit quad 9s, and a quad 3s with no kicker.  Son got quad 8s for his first 4 of a kind. He lost $50, and I ended up ahead about $60.

Wife said she was tired, so we went back to the room to get a good night's sleep. This has been a long trip and we needed the sack time. Heading home tomorrow.

Hey Edso.  I don't comment often but I enjoy reading all of your reports.  Have a good trip back to CA and use the next few days to get prepared for the classroom.  Take care.

Thanks, Robert.  I need a vacation from this vacation.  LOL.  Tomorrow I am chilling, and writing my last report for the trip, and on Sunday I will get back into "school mode."

Thanks for reading and have wonderful new year.   Be well.

Nice trip Edso. I am sure it was fun hitting all the different casinos, but I am guessing it felt good  walking in to your casino Westgate there in Las Vegas.  Too bad you missed out on the free play.  Be aware that BCA national pool tournament is moving there this year from the Rio

Yeah, it was nice being in a familiar place.  Very chill.   Wasn't overrun with people like the strip was or will be.

Have a fantastic new year and thanks for reading, Brent.

BTW Brent.  I wore my Bobby Vegas t shirt and a number of people thought I was Bobby Vegas.  LOL
