Well...
Arrived at Sam's the 4th at 9 pm Friday. We ran up to the top deck for an invited guests view of the fireworks being shot off a barge maybe one football field length downriver. They were good. Once you have seen fireworks, to me, they are all pretty much the same. Exception: You got to see the show on the mall in Washington D.C.!!! The last time I was there the Beach Boys played before the fireworks, some many years ago.
The wife, Laura, a good looking blonde,I might add, played the slots.
I played blackjack and the $1 ($5 per hand) JOB 9/6.
We came home with more than we left with in the four digits with no W2G's.
Laura, and I went to an "invited guests" dinner and drawing.
Top prize a candy apple red Mustang convertible.
Next 9 prizes $1000 cash.
Laura wadded up her entry and slung it into the hopper with all the others (300).
I told her I like the odds 300:1 chance to get the car!!
Well lo and behold number 7 name called out was Laura. I heard the host say to the person drawing, look its crumpled up. (I then was sure it was Laura's entry as she had crumpled hers up before depositing it.)
Well the ten of them lined up and each in turn opened their card (it said WINNER in the form of a license plate). Laura was number 7 to open her card to find $1000 in CASH!!!! WINNER. The last guy won the car !! He was older than me(66). He took the $38,000 car instead of the $20,000 cash.
I can just see "that couple" roaring down the highway in the candy-apple red convertable!!
So besides our wins this trip, on slots and games(me), we had the drawing win!!
It was the best trip this year.
