The Screws Fall Out An Imperfect Stay At NYNY- April 2022 Trip Report Part One

This is very long and there are a ton of images so it is posted to my blog.

>> My April 2022 Trip Report Part One <<

Be forewarned it is the first edit so there are probably lots of typos. If you catch one, please let me know and I will correct it.

The stuff I left off you might find amusing.

Baby got to meet my sister, They hit it off and even shared a joint together.  When I returned home I stopped by my elderly parent's house to visit. My mom said your sister stopped by the other day she said your "friend" was very attractive and very nice.

Baby and I were walking around on Fremont and she started to giggle. I asked what was up. She said one of those guys we just passed said, "That is one happy white boy."

There was a particularly nasty old guy at Tom Urban's that kept shooting us nasty looks. I should have punched him in the face. I will add a bit more in my part 2.

Boy, what a Keystone Kops place NYNY turned out to be for you. I don't buy that all these shitshows are due just to so-called "staffing shortages." I think the casinos have adopted a permanent policy of hiring as few people as possible and stretching them as thinly as possible. The resulting degradation of customer service--drastic degradation, all too often--is something I believe they're consciously "training" people to accept. Crappy service and long waits for everything will soon be accepted as the norm, as people's memories of prior pleasant experiences fade.

They know this is going to work. People who, like you, complain about how they've been treated are a small minority (and good job on getting some spiffs for your trouble). Most people will shrug, say "it's the new normal." and come back next year and bend over again.

And as you point out, whatever spiffs and apologies you get aren't really worth it. You spent an inordinate amount of your vacation time waiting in line/waiting for stuff to be fixed/etc. Given that the cost of a single hour in Vegas is something like $200 (once you factor in airfare hotel blah blah), they need to really really really compensate you for six hours of your time that they pissed away.

I can't believe people are still flooding into Vegas like lemmings. The entire place has made a conscious decision to treat people like shit.

I was at Cosmo and Caesar's today.  Both relatively empty especially Caesar's.  The first heat wave of the season this week and the stimulus money has been spent.  Let's see how some of these properties, especially Stations, plan to get visitors back for the slow summer.  May will probably break the billion dollar win streak, but that is mainly because how the holidays fell.

I've always been dubious about accepting those pre-arrival check-ins.  Now I'm really dubious and probably won't ever.  Sorry about all the loose screws you encountered.  Your report is lovely, all the photos.  Actually, I'm not quite through with it 'cause I've gotten behind on reading TRs, but will get back to it.  Good job!

Thank you.  Hopefully, part 2 will be up by Monday. Things went much better that leg of the trip.

Hey Mark......nice trip report.

I won't be in Vegas until October, but I'm going to make certain to give the Fremont Street Dirt Dog a try during our Golden Gate stay.  I love good dogs!  I was just on their website, and I'm curious which dog you ordered.

Thanks.

The "Room not being ready yet" issue seems to be rampant and not unique to Vegas.  I've had it happen to me twice staying at LaQuinta  and a Ramada this past year.     Also had an incident where the front desk reassigned my room after I already checked into it.    Kinda awkward at 11:00pm to have someone walk into my room with their own key.

I'd say its due to staff shortages but the communication is all electronic nowadays.  The maids have ipads they keep track of room availability in real time as they get cleaned.   And how does the system allow you to give two different parties keys to the same room on the same day?

Anyway, good trip you had there.   When are you going to post some pictures of your hottie?

I had the house dog this trip and I believe it was the DUI dog on the last trip.

PJ Here you go.
