a short Tunica trip

Yeah - we will hit St. Louis on the way down or back...and probably check out Memphis. Absolutely refuse to give $$$ to any Indian Casinos in the state of WI or MN. Besides we prefer to go where we can earn points towards comps for our annual Vegas trips. The Indian run casinos around here are not our thing - especially when you consider their huge revenues and tax exempt status. We're about 2 hours from Harrah's Joliet and the Hammond, IN Casinos as well, but Tunica would just be something different - I hear Biloxi pay schedules aren't as favorable as Tunica.
You're right about the games being better in Tunica than in Biloxi, especially in the past year or so. Amazing to find a Harrah's property (Tunica Roadhouse) having a huge variety of 99.5%+ VP and good DD BJ. Sam's Town had just the 9/6 JoB, but I don't think anyone in Biloxi has that anymore; IP got downgraded when Boyd took over (who would have figured?) and Isle of Capri went down the tubes even worse when Landry took over. Not sure about Margaritaville. Still, Biloxi is a nicer place overall.

I did like being able to get some more Boyd points in Tunica.

It does sound like a fun trip, enjoy!
Thanks Jon for posting your report! Sorry it wasn't good gaming wise!

On my November trip one night at $5 Single Deck Blackjack at El Cortez, I also ran bad and lost my first 6 hands including a Double Down for a total of -$70 in about 5 minutes (I started with $100).

I then went to another table with the other $30 and lasted longer but lost that on a Double Down and that was that for the night for me for Table Blackjack.

Hopefully I may return to LV the first or second week in March.

Thanks, Rec. Yeah, even though blackjack is a lot less volatile than VP, you can still get burned pretty bad, and pretty quick. Remember, though, from a mathematical standpoint everyone gets only one session per lifetime (with various long and short breaks), so things will usually ultimately even out. If you keep track your entire life, anyway.

We're back downtown from March 12-19; let me know if you'll be around those days, it would be great to catch up!

Well, yes Jon, I actually made up for that loss over the next two nights when I ended up winning back the $100 that I lost ($50 per night -- which was my Win Goal anyway).

And yes, I might very well be in LV during the week of March 10th until Thursday the 14th (or possibly the Sunday till Thursday the week before), so I will keep you posted especially since I'd love to meet up with you at some point in LV.

We usually make a trip down to Tunica specifically to play at Roadhouse. They have the 99.66% BP which I really like. We try to make as many of our Harrah's points for Diamond status there as possible. The casino itself is a little weird, a mix of the old Sheraton (I think) and this new Roadhouse theme, plus overhead music blaring with different music blaring from bars. But the VP play is good, the rooms are terrific, and they have been pretty generous with comps when we've played there. It makes you wonder if it really is a Harrah's property...

We like Paula Dean's, and the burger place in the Horseshoe next door.
Do any of the Harrah's properties in Tunica have 9/6 JOB? We've got three nights booked at Horseshoe in two weeks.
Yes, Roadhouse does. Can't remember the denominations, but they had 9/6 a couple of months ago.

Tommy
They do have 9/6, but the 99.66% bonus poker (175 credits for all 4OAK) is a better option for essentially the same strategy.

For the group's information, the 99.66% game is also known as 8/5/35 Jacks.
