We went to Shreveport LA, on a quick trip so that I could get a couple points on my Harrahs card to keep it current so that my points wouldn't expire. Went to Binion's Horseshoe a Harrah's property. Played Tripple play $1 JOB poker for 2 hours and won $2.50.
Next checked into Sam's had the Magnolia suite on the 19th floor. Laura (SO)went to play CASHMAN slots and I headed next door to the El Dorado to play Texas Hold Em, 1/2 no limit.
Buy in for $200. The first two hours were loosers $100. I had time to scope out the competitors. There were three requlars that I recognized. They were in positions 5/6/7. I was in 1st position. Two of the regulars play tight trips or better. The guy next to me had been up 24 hours and stayed every hand to the river. Most of the others were fairly easy to "read".
Things were better the next three hours. Won a number of smaller pots. One interesting pot was, four players who bet into the river which had a high card of Queen. I had pocket Queens. I didn't bet this round as others had bet. The next two cards were a Jack and a small card. Looked to me like no one could have gotten a straight, or flush. The best I could see someone having was three of a kind Q high. Most likely two pair. It came down to me and the tightest regular player (who incidentlly had won the most money at the table, around $700). I was dreading him going all in and me having to call. Much to my surprise he bet $45. I was sure we would, worst case have to split the pot, so I raised $45 he called. He had two pair, I had three queens!!
Ended the session at mid-night with a cashout of $250. And what fun!!
Next day I had to get back, so we ate and my significant other wanted to play more. So Sam's got a crack at us on the blackjack tables where I dropped $100. My SO lost $200 of her winnings on slots but had made $25 on blackjack.
Trip result. Me $150 up at poker. Her up $400 at CASHMAN.
Good trip.
