Spring Break 2011 (part 5)
Ten hours? Ten hours? Why would I sleep that long? Ooh, but it did feel good. I guess the body just decided to do some long-needed catching up. I was late getting into the fitness center, but got in the time needed. It’s Easter and the hotel is full. I do have a free pass for the buffet, but the line was so long, I passed and decided I could use it tomorrow before I left.
I came back to the room, wrote the report, sent it in, and went down to the lobby to swipe my card for the final drawing today, which would be at 3:00 PM. The only decision I needed to make was whether to play or not. It certainly didn’t seem to make much of a difference at the drawing how many tickets I had (noting a bit of bitterness here?). However, I figured I’m on a gambling trip, I might as well…gamble. I’m only down a hundred or so for the entire trip, so I figured I’d have one more shot here at Harrahs to see if anything good could happen.
I sat down once again at the nickel 50-play, which is a bit crazy, but I have to admit I enjoy the rush. Again, the only game worth playing is Super Double Bonus. Again, the dealt three-of-a-kinds just weren’t happening nor did I catch any royals. But then I was pleasantly surprised to see four beautiful queens pop up on a deal—600 nickels—times 50 comes to $1500.00 and my second W2G form this year.

It's Purrrdy!
Between playing more on the that machine and a couple hundred in the 7/5 bonus with NO quads, I end up giving $500 back, but it’s still a grand up for the day—whew!
It was time for the drawing—maybe this Easter will finally have a sweet egg for me. That would be no. Three drawings, 45 winners, and the Easter Bunny just shook his head with a wry, snide smile at me. That’s okay, I’m taking some of Harrahs money with me anyway—I suck at drawings.
I drove back to the Colorado Belle, sat down at a different bar to try to win back the hundred I lost there yesterday. Finally, finally I hit four Aces for a hundred (8/5 BP) but was down to $50 when I hit it—okay, I’ll take a $50 profit—but noooo—I walked by an old favorite Pharaoh penny machine. I hit one bonus, made a couple bucks, I then hit another bonus, it re-triggered, and I won $70. Well, it appears I got back my whole $100 loss yesterday after all. Nice.
I drove across the street to the theater complex in the mall. I was surprised that except for one or two stores and the theaters, the entire mall was closed. Most malls around the country to a big business on Easter. I chose to see SOURCE CODE, which had gotten some pretty good reviews. The movie, though a stretch to figure out what is going on, turned out to be good—a little far-fetched—but enjoyable.
I stopped at the Tropicana Express, once a favorite casino in Laughlin, but they’ve taken out their poker room as well as all the decent VP schedules. What’s left are a lot of bad paying slots, and still a good steak house. I lost $40 trying out a couple of new slots I hadn’t seen before and then headed back to Harrahs.
I picked up a couple of chicken wraps from McDonalds and headed back to the room. The big win certainly made this Easter worth remembering. I spent a lot of the day watching some baseball on TV, the movie, and a little playing, so there isn’t a lot to report. I’ll be heading back to Vegas and the Orleans next.
More tomorrow.
