Spring Break in LV, 2011 (Day One, Wed 4/20)

Decided to take trip 4/20-4/25 while son out of school. It's a lot of fun to spend time w/Rick who's 15 and I don't have a lot of time left We drive from Utah so it's easy to get around. Had 2 comp nights at RR w/Signature Suite upgrade. Had 3 comp nights at NYNY w/strip view request (son loves art deco theme there.) Here goes...

Bkfst @ Du Pars: short stacks and shared side of bacon, coffee each=YUM
Palace Station:tried to pick up LA tix (Groupon disc. coup voucher) to get out of way for next night but booth closed
ATM: Bought Groupon $12 tix; found out at venue that each tix was for 2 people, $6/person; gave extra tix to 2 guys in line behind us; interesting museum and glad to see whole thing this time (1st time arrived too late and only saw half before closed.)
RR: Suite #16-132 not ready yet. Son to movies while mom played; won some $$$. Room ready before son; unpacked and inspected room. Sep. LR/BR, 1 1/2 baths, spa tub, bar electrical down but didn't need anyways. Son picked sectional sofa when plans made (instead of 2 bed reg room) and worked out well. Quiet room until 0700 construction!
Dinner: Had free buffet coupons for trip but soooooo crowded we never went. Son tired after movie so we had rm svc after mom played a little and lost some $$$.Rm svc decent, good service.

When staying at RR or GVR, your hotel key serves as a line pass for the buffet! There is a seperate line for "invited guests" which also includes hotel guests. It's a great perk for these crowded buffets and I've used it many times.

Sounds like a great trip with your son!

Yep, I saw the sign for hotel guests but that was even long; I think because it was spring break. I just don't have the patience to wait in line.
Hi VPWB,

Thanks for Day One of your report and sorry to read about the 7AM Construction Wake-Up Call (that's kind of rotten that the casino didn't tell you that up-front (at least when you got to the hotel).
