STUNGAZED's TRIP REPORT JUNE 12 - JULY 7, 2015 (VERY LONG)

Trip Report
June 12 – July 7, 2015

Welcome to the summer trip of 2015. It's been 6 months since the last trip and I am looking forward to this one. This trip is shaping up to be a good one with a few new hotels, loads of free play, good food, and lots of video poker. As always my wife Dee will be with me and this year the cousins will also be making an appearance. The bags are packed, the reservations are made and the plane is waiting for us at the airport.

Day 1
Friday June 12, 2015
Today started off with little sleep since I worked last night. After just a few hours it was time to get up and head out for the airport. Today's flight is out of Albany so yesterday I picked up a rental car from Budget at the local airport. I booked this back in February and got a full sized car for $68. Frequent checks of the price over the last 4 months and it held steady. When I picked it up they gave me a Kia Optima with 22,000 miles on it. Other than a scratch on the passenger door it was in good shape.

The drive to the Albany area was smooth sailing. We had plenty of time so stopped at deli/bakery called Bella Napoli for some lunch. They have good food and great donuts and baked goods.

When we got to the airport I returned the rental car without issue and we were on to check in for the flight.

We're flying Southwest today using the vouchers we got last year when we got bumped from our flight. Since they were going to expire by the end of this trip and there would be no point in re-booking to save some of the credits it was nice to just book and not have to worry about the fares. The round-trip flights were pricey when I booked back in February at $515 per person or $1030 for the two of us. Normally I'd pass on a fare like that but we had $1050 in vouchers so just went with it.

Checking in was fast and it was off to security. Everything here was smooth and it seemed that everyone was following the rules except the one dip shit that tried to smuggle a bottled water through. Folks, give up, you're going to get caught.

When it was time to board they let us on first because Dee was in her wheelchair. We took the front row of seats.

This is flight 549 and is non-stop to Las Vegas. We were scheduled to depart at 4:05pm and arrive in Las Vegas at 6:30pm. We left 20 minutes late due to the plane arriving late. The flight was smooth and we both slept through a good portion of it. Having worked last night and not gotten much sleep this morning, I was able to sleep away most of the flight.

We arrived in Las Vegas at 6:20, 10 minutes early after leaving 20 minutes late and taxied for a while. Once Dee's chair came up we took the walk to baggage claim and then I went off to the rental car shuttle.

The car prices weren't very good for this trip at all. Even checking almost every day since February didn't get me anything near as low as I usually get. I actually booked a much larger vehicle than normal for just a few bucks more than the smaller cars were. I wouldn't be picking up that car until Sunday though. To start the trip I ended up booking the first 2 nights with Dollar using two 1 free day vouchers for a full sized car. After the last few trips out here and the cars that Dollar provides that are beat to hell and have high miles I decided I wasn't going to rent from them anymore unless the price was right. In this case, the price was right, for the first 2 days anyway!

I stopped at the booth to give them my coupons and update my credit card. I picked up a Chevy Impala with 21000 miles on it. I wasn't going to be all that picky for what's really going to be about a 36 hour rental so took it after giving it a once over.

I left the parking garage and went back to the airport to pick up Dee. We stopped off at CVS for a few things and then took the back roads over to Flamingo Rd. to Tuscany. We'll be staying here for the first 3 nights of this trip. We played here in December for the first time in a few years and they sent me an offer for 3 nights, $25 in free play, $10 match play & $10 food.

When we checked in we were given room 103 in building D. This is a handicap room. It has 2 double beds, a sitting area, a dining area, a 32” flat screen TV. The bathroom is roomy but bland with a shower stall, tub, and vanity area. There is a view of other buildings in the Tuscany complex.

Even though it was getting late we were hungry so opted for Marilyn's Cafe. We usually like the food here and they have a pretty large menu to choose from. I got chicken cordon blue and Dee got spaghetti. Mine was straight out of a box into the fryer but tasty. Dee's was very bland but she enjoyed it anyway.

We skipped playing tonight and headed for bed even though it wasn't late by Vegas standards and it was Friday night.

Total win/loss for the day $0
Total Comps for the day $124
Room $105
Food $19

Day 2
Saturday June 13, 2015
We were up early this morning.

Today we went downtown to play. But before we played we had 2 meets. The first was with Yahtzee Mike and his kids. I hadn't seen his kids since they were tots and they have grown quite a bit. We hung out for a while out on Fremont Street before he left.

The next meet up was with AP and Just Mare and Scott for breakfast at Magnolia's Veranda for breakfast. I'd never met Mare in person so it was good to finally meet her. I had eggs and coned beef hash and Dee had eggs with no meat. We had some good food and good discussions. Mare took care of the bill with the food credits from her room offer (thanks Mare) and we were out of there.

We decided to play at the Four Queens today. I had an offer for $200 in free play. We didn't need the room here so didn't bother to book it. We sat down at the 9/6 jacks machines and played for halves. Things here were not good. Few quads and few full houses. By the time we ran through our action we were down $600.

We took a break and walked down to Neonopolis and went to the Toy Shack and Ultimate Sports Cards, both of who you see on Pawn Stars as the “experts”. We got Dee a hockey card of her favorite Ottawa Senator for $1 and left.

On the way back to Four queens I stopped at the Harley Davidson store and picked up a few souvenir chips for a buddy at work and then we went back to the Four Queens for more video poker.

Things were just as bad this time around. I was lucky enough to hit a straight flush only to lose the credits in about 10 minutes. A few quads kept me going for a while but then it was down the tubes for me. I cashed out even this time around but Dee bled a little bit more.

We took another break and walked up and down Fremont Street. The people dressed as characters are a real pain in the ass as are the sales people that try to sell skin care products.

We went back tot he Four Queens and for a little variety played the 50 play machines and some Bonus Deuces. Despite Dee hitting multiple sets of deuces and deuces with an ace she dropped 2 more bills. I actually hit a natural royal flush and had one hand with 12 dirty royals and broke even. The swings on 50 play can be tough!

We'd finally gotten the action in we were looking to run in order to keep the offers coming in the future.

I stopped by the Player's Club and turned in my coupon from the LVA MRB for $10 free play. I also had the AGC Coupon good for 2x points up to 500 points.

I ran the free play through 9/6 jacks for quarters and turned my $210 into $185. This took us to being down $900 for the day. Not exactly they way I had hoped our first day of action was going to go.

For dinner we had plans to meet my friend AP at Binion's to go to the Steakhouse for a 5:30pm reservation. He's got a ton of comps there and invited us to come along. Even though I was a big fan and played a lot of blackjack at Binion's over the years I'd never been to the steakhouse here. I was and still am a fan of the casino coffee shop. Nothing was better than getting a $3 steak dinner in their downstairs coffee shop.

For appetizers I got Lollipop Chicken and Dee got snails. Dee said the snails were good and I thought the chicken was tasty. It was a bit pricey for what you got but it was a different type of appetizer than you'd typically get. For our entrees Dee got the portabella mushroom ravioli and I went for the rib eye. Dee said hers was awesome and I thought the rib eye was good.

For dessert we split volcano cake with ice cream. It was rich and very filling but very tasty.

By the time we were done we had lots of great discussions and walked out of there stuffed. Thanks again to AP for inviting us along.

We left the downtown area and made a quick stop at Saver's to get Dee some books to read during the trip before heading back to the Tuscany to wrap up the night with some TV and typing this report.

Total win/loss for the day - $900
Total Comps for the day $325
Room $115
Cash/Free Play $210

Day 3
Sunday June 14, 2015
Once we were ready it was off to the casino for some video poker action. We stopped off at Caffe Bottega for a quick breakfast of a muffin for me and a bagel for Dee.

We chose the triple/five plays and 8/5 bonus poker. Things were not good here. Notable hands were me hitting aces after holding three of a kind 5 different times. Dee hit quad queens on two hands. The dealt winners were sparse and I was getting low paired to death. By the time we ran just 5k through we had dropped $500. I know it was five play but losing at a 10% rate is unacceptable.

I had my $25 in free play so for fun ran it through a new Flintstones slot machine. This was one of the worst games ever. We had one winning spin that we won more than we bet. All other “winning” spins were losses. The $25 in free plat was $3 in cash just a few minutes later.

I stopped off at the slot club to do a scratch and win promo. For every 500 points earned you get a scratch card (up to 4). The four cards I drew were $5 free play, 5,000 points ($5), 10,000 points ($10) and 20,000 points ($20). While it offsets some of the losses it certainly wasn't enough.

We took a short break and then I went out. I was off to the Pinball Hall of Fame for a while. Dee stayed at the hotel and read her books. It was too early for the Pinball Hall of Fame to be open so I stopped off at the Hard Rock to see if any of the old crew was there. I haven't been here in years and this place is totally different than it used to be.

None of the old crew was there but I bought in at a craps tables like old times. This worked out well because other than my initial bets, I didn't need any of it. There was only one other shooter and myself. This guy did excellent hitting lots of points. This was also a come bettor's table. Lots of repeaters and very few other numbers. I got the dice and did ok but not as well as the other guy. When he got the dice back he rolled for about 20 straight minutes which, on a dead game is a long time. During this roll I won over $1000 and I wasn't even betting like a maniac. This guy colored up because he had to catch his flight home so I took the dice and did ok one roll and popped a 7 right away on my next. I decided not to push my luck and colored up with exactly $1500 in profit putting us up $1000 for the day and $100 for the trip so far.

I got the hell out of the Hard Rock and went over to the Pinball Hall of Fame. I always enjoy my time at the Pinball Hall of Fame and today was no exception. I get good bang for my buck here and it's also cool to see the history and the classic games that are still available. One thing I can say is since they moved closer to the strip and as time goes on this place gets busier and busier. I played lots of games here and over 4 hours spent under $10.

When I was done playing at the Pinball Hall of Fame it was time to return the rental car. I had to pick up the new one that we'd be keeping for the rest of the trip. Returning the car to Dollar was no problem and everything went well.

Next was a walk to Alamo where I'd be picking up the new car. With the rates a little higher than they've been in the past we decided to splurge a little bit and rent something a bit nicer and larger than we normally get. I got a decent rate on a full sized SUV from Alamo using a Costco discount code and a coupon from the Entertainment Book. By decent I mean it wasn't much more than the mid/full sized cars. I got the rate down to about $178/week. The extra couple of days were a killer and I'm sure the gas will be too. Picking up the car was easy as I had already checked in and pretty much had to choose my car and go. I chose a Chevy Tahoe with 13,000 miles on it. This SUV was in great shape and had a ton of bells and whistles. While I didn't need them it will be fun to play with them!

From here I made a quick stop at 99¢ Only to grab a few things and then came back to the Tuscany. We had dinner at Marilyn's Cafe. I got the turkey and stuffing and Dee got the Chef's Salad. Mine was excellent and Dee liked hers too.

It was still early but we had already gotten enough play in here today. We decided to play penny games for a while for some fun. We got quite a bit of play but hit very few bonus rounds. I also had a $10 match play so hit the roulette wheel with it. I chose black and red 14 came up.

We came back to the room for our final night here and wrapped things up with some TV.

Total win/loss for the day $50
Total Comps for the day $129
Room $65
Cash/Free Play $30
Food $34

Day 4
Monday June 15, 2015
We started off this morning with a little time at the pool. We were out early before the sun got too intense to avoid being fried.

Today was moving day so we packed up the few things we had taken out of the luggage and we were on our way.

We had plans today to stop on the Strip at the Cromwell to have lunch at Giada using a $100 diamond celebration dinner voucher that we both get for being diamond level with Caesars Entertainment. I booked a reservation on Open Table for 12:15. It still amazes me that this place used to be the Barbary Coast. I wish it still was the Barbary Coast though.

When we arrived early but we were seated right away. We looked over the menu and I decided on Venetian Panino turkey, gruyère, fontina, whole mustard, peppadew for 18 dollars and Dee chose the sausage and eggplant lasagna.

The meal was tasty and the service was good. I can say that the portions were a bit on the small side and a bit pricey for the amount of food you get. The bill was quite a bit cheaper than I had planned so instead of using the $100 celebration voucher we used points from Dee's account.

When lunch was over we left the Cromwell and headed out to Summerlin to Rampart. We'll be staying here for the next 4 nights on two separate offers at the JW Marriott. Dee got an offer for 2 nights, $30 food and $400 in free play. I got an offer for buy one night at $99 and $80 free play. We don't know why her offer was so nice considering she only had $150 more in action that I did when we played there in December. Normally I wouldn't consider paying $99 for a room night but my hope was after we played I'd be able to get that night comped.

We checked in here which went quickly but the room wasn't ready yet. They were able to combine our reservations. I would still have to go check out and in on Wednesday though but we would keep the same room.

The first thing we did was activate Dee's free play. They only give you half each day so they loaded $200 and we were off to the video poker machines. Today is also 2x points on video poker.

We played dime 10 play video poker. There weren't many dealt winners but we had a good amount of quads including multiple sets of aces and we each got a dealt quad too. I also hit a bunch of straight flushes. While we were playing the hotel called to tell us the room was ready so we were off to the front desk to get the keys.

We were given room 4111. This is a handicap accessible room with 2 queen beds, a nightstand, dresser, 42 inch flat screen TV and has a view of the courtyard and valet area. The bathroom is huge with double vanities, a shower stall, toilet room and whirlpool tub. When I opened a door up in the hallway of the room expecting to see a walk in closet I was shocked to see a second bathroom instead. This bathroom is full accessible with a roll in shower, pedestal sink and toilet with safety bars

Once we got settled into the room we hit the Promenade Cafe. Of all the years coming here I've never eaten here. Dee got fish and chip which weren't very good. It seemed the oil wasn't hot enough and/or the fish wasn't cooked all of the way through. The fries weren't really cooked enough either. I had meatloaf and it was very good.

Back to the casino our of choice was 8/5 bonus 10-play for dimes again. This is a fun game but don't think because it's dimes you can't get killed. During this round of play we did well with many sets of aces and Dee even nailed a royal on line 5. With the swings of 10 play that royal only kept us going though. Once we hit the level of action we wanted we ran Dee's free play through a quarter 9/6 jacks machine. She played $100 and turned it into only $76. I played $100 and got $96 out.

For some fun we took $20 and played a variety of penny games. We ended up losing but got about an hour of play out of it. Between all of the aces, the free play and the royal we still ended up down about $50 on the day.

It was fairly late so we decided to get something to eat at Cafe. Oddly many breakfast items weren't available at this time of day including pancakes and French Toast. I found this very odd. I chose the biscuits and gravy with eggs. It was very good but too much food to eat at this time of night and very rich. Dee chose the meat lovers scramble. She liked it but it too was too much food.

When we were done eating we packed it in for the day.

Total win/loss for the day - $50
Total Comps for the day $447
Room $159
Cash/Free Play $200
Food $88

Day 5
Tuesday June 16, 2015
We slept in a bit today and had an in room breakfast of muffins from Starbucks at the bargain price of over $6 for 2 muffins.

Next was to activate Dee's free play for today again the hit the VP machines. We hit the 10-play dime machines again. Not much happened here other than Dee hitting aces and still losing and I couldn't catch a break either. We dropped $300 between us and took a break from the machines.

During the break we took a walking tour of the property. This is a pretty nice place and other than the fact it's out in the middle on nowhere.

We went back to the machines again for more video poker. Dee hit two more sets of aces and various other good hands. She hovered between even and +$100 and cashed out even. I wasn't hitting that much but got a good number of dealt straights. I fluctuated between even and -$100 and also got out even.

We took another break grabbing a snack at the gift shop and resting in the room for a while. Then we got changed and hit the gym and the pool area for a while. The pool area here is really nice, better than some strip properties.

For dinner we went to J.C.'s Irish Pub. Dee got fish and chips and I got Sheppard's pie. My food was very good but the portion a bit small and Dee said hers was far superior than the crap she got last night.

After dinner we hit the machines again and I got my ass kicked while Dee won a little bit thanks to dealt quad fives.

To try to lower the swings we switch to single line 9/6 jacks for quarters and lost more playing that in 30 minutes than we did in 2 hours playing ten play for dimes.

Once we had our action in we ran Dee's free play though. Today we were able to turn the $200 in free play into only $150 on 8/5 bonus triple play. I got a dealt quad and ended up losing $20. That's not a good thing!

Next up we cashed in some of Dee's points and ran that through a machine and turned it into $80.

I had a $10 match play so used it on black on the roulette wheel. I watched in horror as the ball popped out of black 17 and into red for our second match play loss of the trip.

For some fun we played a few penny games again tonight but didn't have much luck at all.

We ended the night with some TV before going to bed in this roller coaster of a day.

Total win/loss for the day - $500
Total Comps for the day $503
Room $159
Cash/Free Play $300
Food $44

Day 6
Wednesday June 17, 2015
We started off again with breakfast at the cafe. We both got the deuces wild. It's 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 bacon, 2 sausage and hash browns.

When we were done we found a casino host to comp off Dee's charges for the 2 nights which was no problem.

Next up was some 10 play action. Nothing noteworthy happened here except drawing 4 quads on a 3 card hold. It was streaky here this time around and we lost $100.

I had to check out and back in although we didn't have to change rooms or anything. We came back up here for a short break and then headed out for a while just to break things up.

We were now staying on my offer so I had me free play activated and we hit the machines. Things were tough here this time around. We played the 10 plays again and Dee hit a few sets of aces and various other quads. I didn't have much happening either. By the time we were done we'd dropped around $300 more between us.

We took a break from VP and played a variety of penny games. We played for over and hour on a $20 bill hitting lots of bonus rounds and eventually quitting with a 14¢ win!

We needed to get a few items so went out for a while and hit Target and grabbed our things. It was too late for lunch and too early for dinner so we stopped at Jack in the Box for a few of their tacos for a snack.

We took another shot at video poker with slightly better results this time around. Dee got on a small hot streak but it wasn't until after she was already down. I hovered for the most part but lost a little. Between us we won $100 this time around thanks to Dee's hot streak.

We were hungry so went to the buffet for dinner. I had a buy one get one coupon from the Las Vegas Advisor Member Rewards Book. This buffet is pricey at $22 per person. I was shocked at how small this buffet actually was with only 3 serving stations, a dessert area and a salad bar. Tonight was international BBQ night. They had some really odd stuff that had BBQ sauce on it. I can say the ribs were good.

After dinner we went back to the machines. It was one of those sessions where one of us would be ahead and the other would be down. We just can't seem to both win at the same time. Dee hit a bunch of aces and a couple of straight flushes to get ahead but I was bleeding to death. I actually got down to $20 and switched to the super streaky triple double bonus for my hail Mary attempt. This worked out well when I got dealt quad 7's for 2500 coins and switched back to bonus. There I hit the ultra dreaded ace low straight flush. Of course while I was back in the game Dee started getting her ass kicked and ended up losing the $200 she bought in with.

We ran my $40 in free play through and turned it into $47. Then I played a $5 match play from the American Casino Guide on black only to have red come up yet again. We're now 0 for 3 and down $25 on match plays. So much for having an edge!

Total win/loss for the day - $400
Total Comps for the day $243
Room $159
Cash/Free Play $40
Food $44

Day 7
Thursday June 18 2015
Happy Birthday to Dee
Today is Dee's birthday so like I did last year when we were here, I gave her the option to plan the whole day. Of course I have the right to veto anything she chooses that's just totally dumb or going to cost us a boatload of money.

She tried to turn the tables on me and said I could plan the day with the only stipulation being that I am not allowed to say fuck at all today. I agreed to the part about saying fuck but still told her to plan a day.

We started with ten play video poker. As it has been it was streaky. Dee hit a bunch of premium hands including the ultra dreaded A2345 straight flush but still ended up getting our asses kicked.

For a break from the VP machines we popped a twenty into some penny games for fun. We didn't get much play out of it so decided to hit the VP machines again. This time around things were VERY bad for me but Dee was hovering. Things were so bad I dropped $200 and even my hail Mary attempt came up empty. I put in another $200 and the same thing was happening. Very few winners and drawing to low pairs was producing nothing. I was about to quit and on my hail Mary attempt switched to the ultra volatile triple double bonus. Things weren't good here until I dumped a junk hand and hit quad 4's w/ kicker for 2000 coins. Things turned around from here and I built the meter back up to around $300. Dee hit some aces and hit 3 straight flushes on one hand that got her meter up and amazingly we quit even.

I activated my free play for the day and we ran it through the machines and cleared $43 with it.

Next it was time to take a break for a late lunch. Dee wanted to try a place she saw on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives called Those Guys Pies. It's not far from here so we drove over. The only problem was there are only 2 tables in the place and it's mainly take out. We ordered a meat pizza and a cheese steak. Using the trusty GPS in the Tahoe we looked up parks in the area and found Desert Breeze Park right around the corner where we ate the food. I can't say there was anything special about the food but it was good.

We came back to Rampart and rested for a while from eating too much and being out in the heat.

The next thing Dee chose to do was going back to the casino. Once again we hit the 10 play machines for dimes. Things were great here to start. We had lots of big hits including aces multiple times and Dee hit a bunch of straight flush hits including the dreaded king high version. We were doing well but then it was as if someone flipped a switch and everything we were up was gone and then some. We ended up losing $200 for the session but had gotten all of the action in we had planned on.

Next up I cashed in some points for $100 in free play. We ran that through the machines and had a few hits but nothing major turning the $100 into $85.

We came back here to the room to pack up the stuff we used during our stay because we are moving tomorrow.

Total win/loss for the day - $350
Total Comps for the day $299
Room $159
Cash/Free Play $140
Day 8
Friday June 19, 2015
We got up early today so we could enjoy the morning at the pool but it was closed. Instead we went to one of the whirlpools for a while. It was nice being out that early with no one around.

Today is moving day so we came back to the room to finish up packing and get cleaned up.

Once everything was in order I was going to go down to the casino and meet up with my host to see about getting the room charges comped. I checked the TV and saw that everything was comped off. We only had one buffet and the $99 rate for the first night. I was happy about this as it saved me from tracking him down. I look forward to returning here if the offers continue.

We headed out of the JW Marriott at Rampart. I can say that it was nice to stay at a new place for a change and we really liked it here.

For a quick lunch we stopped at an Arby's for a couple of Beef 'N Cheddars and then it was back on the road.

Today's move takes us on a lengthy drive to Laughlin. As if the drive isn't long enough, we had to add the additional 20 minutes to get there from out in Summerlin. Even though the drive was longer it wasn't a bad drive and it actually went fairly fast.

We pulled into the Aquarius at about 3:00. We'll be staying here for the next 5 nights. We checked in in the VIP area and everything was in order. We were given room 18104. This is a handicap room with 2 beds, a nightstand, dresser, dining table, 32 inch flat screen and a view of the pool and river. The bathroom is a little larger than the regular rooms with safety bars in the shower and around the toilet. This is the same room we had back in December and last summer. I guess it's become sort of our “regular” room at this point.

I booked this through my host here and she's comped all 5 nights up front. Also included is my mail offer for $475 in free play, Dee's mail offer for $250 in free play and a $50 offer from my host for Dee's birthday and $100 for our anniversary giving us a total of $875 free play just for showing up. Our food will be charged to the room and evaluated at check out. Typically I despise having to do that but my host takes care of me here and we've never paid for a meal. Based on my card level I'll also be getting some buffets and vouchers for the Cove and Duet.

We got our things up to the room and then it was off to the casino for some video poker action. Today we decided to play on Dee's card. We usually play one day on Dee's card to keep the offers coming. We started off with triple/five play and in the first 10 minutes I popped a royal flush on line 4 which was much needed. I continued to do well ramping the meter up with some bonus quads and a set of aces but then things turned and all the additional profit was gone and then some. Dee was hitting lots of quads early on but then struggled to hit anything. She actually lost her initial her $200 buy in and added another $100. It got better for her and she ended up only down $50 for the session.

We were getting hungry and went to get something to eat at Cafe Aquarius. I got the turkey dinner with a small salad and Dee got the turkey BLTA (bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado) and a milk shake. Everything was good and our server did a good job.

Now it was time to play again. We chose to play quarter super times pay this time around. Things were streaky for Dee and I was hovering. It didn't seem like we were getting enough multipliers and when we did we struck out on them. I did manage to get an 8x multiplier with dealt trips and turned one of them into a full house scoring 120,120 & 320. Dee best hand got a 3x multiplier with a dealt high pair and she turned one of those into a quad for 15,15 & 375. I also got dealt quad 10's with no multiplier. We did well here holding close to even most of the session until about the last 30 minutes when we got our asses handed to us with me dropping a all my profit and then some and Dee just bleeding out what she started with and then some.

When we were done playing we ran Dee's $300 in free play through a variety of penny games. Probably not the best way to go but the last few days of running free play through VP has netted terrible results too so I figured why not. Things weren't too bad and we hit a few bonus rounds. Nothing to make a huge profit but to limit the losses as much as possible. By the time we were all done we turned the $300 into $276.

It was getting late and it was a pretty long day between packing and making the drive down here so we called it a night and went to the room to watch TV and then get to bed.

Day 9
Saturday June 20, 2015
Happy Anniversary to US!
We started today with a trip to the pool. This pool gets crowded so we like to hit it early. We didn't stay long because there were 6 unattended, preteen kids making a ton of noise.

The first thing we did this morning was hit the kiosk with Dee's card to see if she reached the green level. She was close so with last night's play I was figuring she would hit it. She cleared the level by 3 points and was now green level.

We used her VIP buffet coupon at the VIP buffet. This is one of the perks I get for being a red card holder here and now Dee gets for being green. Each weekend day you get 2 buffet passes and get to sit in a special area. The buffet here is mediocre at best but for free we'll take it.

After breakfast we hit the machines but before that we stopped at the player's club to get Dee's new card and pick up her cruise tickets for the boat ride later today.

Today we played STP to start with. Things were bad here. I dropped $200 and only hit 1 multiplier the whole time with poor results. Dee got slammed and switched to regular triple play before busting out. She tried another $100 and she did better there hitting some quads. She ended up cashing out down $200 for her session.

I continued to pound away at STP and even made the switch to the ten play version of it. Streaky isn't the word but a few nice hits on multipliers helped out. My best hand was and 8x multiplier and getting dealt trips and drawing a full house for 1400 coins. Other hands of note were getting dealt 3 deuces and hitting quads on 2 lines and getting dealt a full house. I had a real lack of quads and dealt winners but thanks to the multipliers I cashed out with a nice $450 win. After Dee's loss we walked with a $250 win and took a break.

This afternoon I had booked an offer through my host for a free cocktail cruise on board the Celebration. It was actually for Dee's birthday and it was her offer. Over the years and all the trips to Laughlin we've never done a river cruise. It was a good time and took about an hour and a half. It didn't go far though, just to the bridge that crosses into Arizona and then just past Harrah's. There was a narration that gave some history of the river, dams and casinos. I was glad we finally got to do it. Dee didn't care for it too much.

When we got back we took a break in the room and then went to the gym to get in some therapy for Dee.

Next up was a snack at Duet. I got a Cannoli and and iced tea and Dee had a banana muffin with a coffee.

It was time to get back to the machines after the snack. I started off with 10 play STP with no luck at all. I dropped $200 in no time and only hit 2 multipliers that didn't result in much. Dee was up and down hitting a few quads when needed. I switched to 5 play but wasn't doing well. The multipliers were just too far and few and when they did appear the results were poor. I also started getting low paired. If that wasn't bad enough, I only had 1 dealt flush and one dealt full house and 4 quads the whole time we played. Dee won a few bucks to cover my bigger losses. Oddly as bad as it was for me we only ended up down $400 for the session which shocked me.

We wrapped the night up with a meal at Cafe Aquarius. Dee got her favorite Signature Wrap and I got the Sign of the Zodiac Soup without seafood in ti but with extra pork and chicken. It was all good and too much to eat.

We then headed to the room to call it a night.

Day 10
Sunday June 21, 2015
Happy Father's Day & Happy First Day of Summer
We were up early and started the day off at the VIP buffet again. This was a new revamped version and more of a Sunday Champagne Brunch. There were lots of different items this time around.

After pool time we hit the machines. The VP gods were all over the place today. Dee got up $100 quickly playing triple play. I hit aces right away playing 5 play STP. Dee hovered for the whole session before busting out at the end. I was all over the place ranging from getting killed to being up $250. I was getting my fair share of multipliers but couldn't really make anything happen except on 2 hands. One was an 8x multiplier with dealt 2 pair pulling 2 full houses for 880 coins and the other was a 5x getting dealt a flush. Other than that most weren't very helpful.

We took a break in the room for a while and then hit the gym to get some therapy in for Dee and then it was back to the machines. This time around Dee played triple and five play and just got her ass kicked. She dropped $400 without hitting a single quad and didn't really get that much action in. I played five play STP again. This time I was getting quite a few multipliers. Most of them weren't hat great but I did score a quad with a 5x multiplier. That was about as good as it got. I cashed out even after having been up by $200 so it hasn't been a great day here at the Aquarius.

Once we got our play in we went to the room and grabbed a few things and went to Harrah's. I had booked a 2 night reservation here just to break things up a bit.

We checked in at the 7* area and were quickly on our way to room 20170. This room is in the central tower. It's is a patio suite on the main level. When you walk in you enter the living room. There's a wet bar area, couch, coffee table, end tables and a dining table. There is also a 32” TV and sliding doors that go out to a semi private patio area with a dining table and a lounge chair. In the bedroom it has a king bed, nightstands, dresser, 32” flat screen TV/dresser combo and an obstructed view of the river. There is another set of sliding doors that lead out to the patio. The bathroom has double sinks and a deep Jacuzzi bathtub. It even has an old 12” tube TV mounted above the vanity. In the main bathroom is the toilet and shower stall.

The room is very dated and quite honestly is fairly filthy. There was trash behind the nightstand and there is a fake plant on top of the TV stand that has so much dust on it that it's no longer green, it's gray. I could go on and on about the rundown conditions in this room but I won't. It's clear that the housekeepers don't their jobs and management allows it.

We went to the diamond lounge to get something to eat. Today they were offering chicken salad wraps, jalapeno poppers, deep fried beef and bean burritos, cookies, veggie platter, chips and salsa and bread.

Next up it was off to the casino to play a bit. Since I had already made it to 7* status from playing in Atlantic City the plan was to play just a little bit today with no preset amount on what level of play we wanted to reach. We chose the 50 play machines that are full of short pay crap. For something different we chose a bonus deuces wild game. This would also force us to play slower than normal since we don't play deuces much. During the session I hit deuces on one of my first hands. Sadly it would be the only time I hit them the whole time including on the hand I started with 3 of them. Dee was getting pounded but had some nice comebacks. She scored deuces on one had as well and it would also be her only set too. She also had a hand that started her with 4 aces and scored 12 quints. This got her back into the game. We played for about an hour and finished up with a whopping $4 win!

We wrapped up the action and went back to the room even though it was early. When we got back there was a green Harrah's Laughlin bag with 2 apples, 2 oranges, 2 packs of peanuts, pretzels, cookies, 2 waters and a chocolate bar that was immediately devoured.

We hit the Jacuzzi for a while simple because we could then to bed for some TV and then some sleep.

Day 11
Monday June 22, 2015
We started our day off this morning with some pool time at the adult only pool. It's always nice to be here and not have to deal with a bunch of kids yelling, screaming and running around. I have nothing against kids, I just don't want them around when I'm at a casino.

When we finished up at the pool we got cleaned up and hit the casino again. Once again we chose the 50 plays for nickels. Since I didn't need any more play on my card we played on Dee's card. We would try to get enough play in to get her a tier bonus and help her along to diamond status. Things here were not good today. Dee was doing ok hovering after hitting 4 deuces plus an ace she later would hit two more sets of deuces. I was getting my ass kicked with very few deuces showing up on the deal. I eventually hit deuces one time. All in total Dee only lost $100 but I dropped six. As we were walking through the casino I saw a sign that today was a mystery multiplier day. By swiping at the kiosk you'd get between 5x and 25x points today but VP only gets 3x regardless. Dee got the minimum.

We were getting hungry now so we had some lunch at the cafe. I got the French Dip sandwich and Dee got the breakfast. The food here is usually pretty good. Today was no exception. We paid the bill with Dee's reward credits and headed back to the room.

Since we weren't staying here we grabbed our things from the room and headed out.

When we got back to the Aquarius we threw our things up in the room and hit the casino here. This afternoon we chose to play 5 play STP. Dee started off getting her ass kicked, just the opposite of what was happening to me at Harrah's earlier. I was down $100 without getting a winning hand but that turned around. I hit aces (no multiplier) and a few other quads to get back into it. Dee continued to bleed but the worst part was when she got multipliers she's get nothing to work with. My best was a 5x with 3 of a kind dealt and hitting 2 full houses. I also got a 5x and a dealt straight. Dee had 10x with trips dealt but only ended up with trips. The real killer for me was getting an 8x with flush four and whiffing on all 5 hands. In total we ran just about 10k through this session and lost just under $100.

We took a break up in the room and ended falling asleep for a few hours. This wasn't what we had planned but it was much needed.

We went back tot he casino and again played 5 play STP. Dee couldn't do too much but hit enough stuff to keep alive. I hit quad aces and on an 8x multiplier popped quad 8's for 1000 coins. I also had a few other good paying multipliers. By the time we were done Dee was even and I was up $300.

For dinner we hit Cafe Aquarius for some food. Dee got chicken fingers and fries and I have to say they were the best fingers I've ever had at a restaurant. The server said they actually make them fresh here. I found that unusual because most places use frozen fingers right from the food service company. I had chicken stew in a sourdough bread bowl. It was good and I would order it again in the future.

Once we were done eating we hit the machines again. This time around Dee started out like a ball of fire. She hit aces, fours and got a quad with a 5x multiplier. She got lots of other multipliers too and couldn't get much out of them. She was quickly up over $200 and then bled to death dropping the $200 she was up but also the $200 she started with. I was hitting lost of smaller stuff including a few standard quads. Later on I hit some bonus quads and on an 8x multiplier got dealt a pair of eights and nailed a quad for 1000 coins on line 3. I continued to build the meter and was at a point that between Dee's loos and my win we were just above even. I decided on the last few hands to switch to 10 play. I managed to hit another set of aces for an additional $100 and we got out of the session with a profit.

Next up I still had $475 in free play from my offer so we decided to run that through the machines. We ran a little bit of it through some penny games for some fun. We didn't do great there only hitting one bonus round.

We ran the rest of it through the 9/6 jacks or better quarter machines. I started with $200 of the free play. Things were rough and at times I'd go 10 or more hands with no pay off. The real killer was getting dealt quad aces though. I ended up turning the $200 into $185.

Dee ran the next $200 through. One one hand she was dealt four to a royal in hearts and landed the 5th heart. The only problem is it was a 4. She turned her $200 into $175. By the time we were done the $475 in free play was $400 cash and we quit after one roller coaster of a day.

We went to Duet with my vouchers I get each week as a red card holder. Tonight we ordered some fruit tarts for breakfast tomorrow morning, a couple of cranberry juices and a chocolate eclair for tonight. I needed this thing like a hole in the head but damn it was tasty. .

It was getting a little late now and we have been up since early this morning so went to the room and packed it in as another night comes to a close.

Day 12
Tuesday June 23, 2015
We were up early again today and started off with some pool time before it got busy.

This morning we played more 5 play STP. During the session Dee just got her ass kicked. Few quads, few multiplier and when she did get them didn't get much if anything out of them happened. I was hitting a good amount of quads but my multipliers were weak. I also got dealt 4, 10, J, K, Q of clubs and after dumping the 4 drew a fucking 9 of clubs for the dreaded king high straight flush. I did manage to get up over $200 at one point but then the bleed happened. I went through one short period of 6 hands in a row with no pay outs at all. I had a few more chunks where I'd go 4-5 hands with no payout either. Finally things turned around and I got dealt quad aces for $500 putting my meter at $800. Unfortunately that's how much we were in for at the time. I cashed out so what Dee had on her meter was profit. I put in a fresh $200 and lost $150 without seeing a multiplier. On my last $50 I switched to 10 play and got 3 multipliers netting me a loss of 10 coins. Overall things were bullshit here considering I had gotten those dealt aces and all of the other quads and a straight flush. We actually walked away down $100 after this and I was totally pissed off about this. I think I said the eff word more times on the way back to the room than I had said the entire time the previous 11 days.

We took some time out of the Aquarius ran a few errands and grabbed a few items we needed and then went down to the Golden Nugget. Dee likes it here and since she never got a card in the past she signed up for one. As a new player she got to spin a wheel and won $5 in free play. She also participated in a promotion where they match a competitor offer. We used her Rampart Las Vegas offer for additional $400 in free play. I only wish I was eligible for this promo because I would have used my Aquarius offer for $475.

We took Dee's free play and went in search of the 5 8/5 bonus machines that are listed on vpFREE but couldn't find them. It's possible they are there but we weren't able to check all of the games. Instead we ran it through 7/5 bonus. We were able to turn it into $460 with the help of a bonus quad and a bunch of straight and flushes. Luckily the pay table didn't make that much of a difference since she only hit 4 full houses.

I had a mail offer for $30 in play til you lose chips so got those at the player's club. Dee always likes to play roulette here because of the lower limits. We bought in for $50 each. I also used my promo chips on outside/even money bets. I was only able to turn those into $20 in real chips. I played them all on black and the ball was hitting too many red numbers. Dee hit a couple of numbers straight up but I didn't hit much of anything. When we were done Dee had a $10 profit and I only had my $20 from the outside bets. We had fun for minimal cost though.

We went back to the Aquarius and we hit the casino again. We chose the progressive triple play bank machines this time. Dee played 8/5 bonus which isn't part of the progressives and I played a short version of deuces wild just to change things up a bit. This game was ugly ducks with shorted quints and wild royals but the progressives were high with the bottom line maxed out at $2000 the middle at $1343 and the top at $1158. The dealt royal super jackpot was almost $5000. Even with the high royals the games were still really shitty. Dee was on fire on her machine popping bonus quads, regular quads, aces and dealt full houses. I was doing ok but wanted to cry each time Dee hit deuces on her machine. I wanted to shoot myself though when I held 3 aces and filled a natural quad not on one, but 2 lines. I did hit quite a few straight flushes and wild royals to stay alive. I cashed out even and Dee cashed out with a $300 win.

For dinner we went to Cafe Aquarius. I had the chicken fingers and fries based on how good they were last night and Dee had the 3 alarm burger that had jalapenos and pepper jack cheese. Dee enjoyed the burger and the fingers were great.

We went back to the progressive machines again hoping to duplicate the session before dinner but didn't get that much luck. Dee got in the same amount of action and lost $100. I played deuces again and had the great luck of hitting quad aces yet again and hitting not one but 2 other natural quads. I was in for 2 bills but a short hot streak at the end saved the second bill and I got out only down $100.

Next up we hit the 9/6 jacks or better quarter machines to run through $100 in free play my host gave us for our anniversary. I popped quad threes during the run through and cashed out at $105.

Since tonight was the last night of our stay here in Laughlin I wanted to cash in some of my points that have been building up. I went to the slot club and had them add $500 in free play to my account. This would leave a little on my account in case we wanted to go eat at Arizona Charlies up in Las Vegas which we do from time to time.

We chose 9/6 jacks to run the $500 through. I took $450 of it and loaded it. I hit many premium hands including quad threes twice, fives, fours, and of course aces along with a good amount of full houses. I turned the $450 free play into $480 cash.

We took the last $50 and played it on one of Dee's favorite Quick Hit penny games. We got a bonus round of 25 spins at 3x and scored over 5000 coins. When we'd run the $50 through it was $65 and we took that and ran to cash out machines.

With the huge amount of free play we had it ended up being a pretty good day despite a crummy beginning.

We came back here to the room to pack up some of our things for tomorrow's departure and watched some TV before going to sleep.

Day 13
Wednesday June 24, 2015
We got up today and had one last breakfast down in Duet to hold us over until we got back to Las Vegas. I had the roast beef paninni and Dee got the ham and cheese wrap. I also got 8 bottles of juice to go with the remaining drink vouchers we had.

We came back to the room to gather our things. I checked the TV and saw our host took care of the few charges that we had put on the room so we were on our way.

The ride back to Las Vegas was a little different today. Instead of taking the usual route we decided to take Christmas Tree Pass. We've wanted to do this for a long time but never really felt we had the right vehicle to do it. This time with the full sized SUV we thought it would be a good opportunity to do it. There are sings at the beginning suggesting 4 wheel drive and telling us that it's a rough road. Rough isn't the word for it. It was like driving on the worst pothole filled road in your town, times 100. I was glad we finally did it but see no reason to do it ever again. There wasn't much to see except for some cool rock formations and it took well over an hour to do.

The rest of the ride was uneventful and it was nice to be able to do 80mph on a smooth road instead of 15. We stopped off in Henderson and dropped our laundry off for fluff and fold service.

We were back on the road in a few minutes and continued the drive towards downtown Las Vegas and arrived at Main Street Station where we'd be spending the next 6 nights. I booked this with a mailed offer through host Ipo who picked up the additional nights. Over the last few months my offers from Main Street Station have been cut substantially despite higher play than ever my last few trips. This mail offer was only good for $25 in free play and 3 nights. Ipo still offers me a silver card for complimentary meals at the non gourmet restaurants so the only thing I'm really losing is $50 in free play. I'm not happy about it but I can deal with it. My offer also included 5x points Monday – Thursday so we'd be cashing in on that too.

When we arrived we were able to check in but the room was ready. We grabbed our stuff from the car and went up. I requested #1724 and that's what we got. This is a handicap accessible room. These rooms are the same as the standard rooms here at Main Street Station with a king bed, nightstands, table with chairs, dresser, 32 inch flat screen TV, closet, fridge and a work desk. The bathroom is laid out similar to the regular rooms as well except it's all one room instead of being split into two. It also has safety bars around the toilet and in the tub.

We hit the VP machines and our usual 3/5 plays. Things here were miserable. I dropped $600 in under an hour hitting only 3 quads. I even tried to switch it up a bit with some Spin Poker and a few hands of 10 play with no luck. Dee did a little better only dropping $100. In total we had only run 7k through the machines between us and we were down $700 already.

We took a short break and then hit the Market Street Cafe at the Cal for something to eat. I got my favorite hot turkey sandwich and Dee got pasta. The food here is basic but good and it's one of my favorite cafes in town.

When we were done eating it was back to the VP machines. This time around I did almost as bad. I only dropped $100 this time and Dee broke even but not after hitting a dozen quads and a straight flush. The killer part for me was hitting a hand of 5 play with 2 sets of quad fours on dealt trips for over $100. Not ten minutes later not only was the $100 gone, so was another $50. We somehow ended up with 27 scratch cards. All were for $2 and worth $54.

We ran my $25 free play through a penny game to try and have some fun and even that was terrible. By the timer we ran $25 through we were down to $11.

I had enough of losing so by 8pm we were in the room watching TV which sucks because I was getting 5x points today and had hoped to run a little extra action through the machines to take advantage of that.

Day 14
Thursday June 25, 2015
We were up early today as we had plans to meet up with an internet friend, Barbara, at the buffet here at Main Street Station at 7am. This isn't typically a time I like to be up but it actually worked out well.

After breakfast it was off to the VP machines. Since we'd be getting 5x points today the plan was to play a little more than normal today but cut back tomorrow to maximize the points.

We started with the 3/5 plays again and things were rough again here. We hit a few quads and the scratch cards were worth $2. Not much to mention other than Dee dropping $300 and I dropped $100

We decided to take a break at this point and came up to the room. I caught a much needed nap and felt good afterwards. Getting up at 6am was rough!

It was time to go back to the casino and back to the VP machines. We did triple play here this time. It was a choppy session for me, up $100 one minute, down $150 the next. I hit a few quads but it wasn't enough. The killer this time around for me was getting dealt flush 4, four of 5 hands and not hitting a single flush (or any other payout). Dee was severely under quaded only hitting 2. She did land a dealt straight flush though so it helped her session out. She squeaked out a tiny $50 win but we dropped yet another $50 between us. She also got $3 scratch card which was a shock.

Since we ate early we went to snack bar over at the California for lunch. Dee ordered chicken katsu and I got the beef teriyaki bowl.

It was back to the VP machines after lunch. We played the 3/5 plays again with the same results. I dropped another $200 and Dee won $50. The losses aren't the worst part. The worst part not getting any play for the money we are losing. We ended up with a few more $3 scratch cards this time around. I think MSS is going to go broke after this big payout.

We took another break up in the room because you can't lose doing that. We went over to the California and for a change of pace bought in for $50 each at roulette. It was pretty good for us at this table. I hit a bunch of numbers right off the start. Dee wasn't hitting as much and did bust out but bought in again because I was up so much. As soon as she bought in the second time she was hitting numbers one after another. We actually walked away from roulette of all things with a $100 win.

Next we played a variety of penny slots for fun. Buying in for just a $20 bill we played for over two hours machine hopping. We won on some games and lost on others but by the time we were done we were up $50. I thought it was a pretty good run considering we were only making the minimum bets.

For dinner we went to the Market Street Cafe over at the California. Dee opted for the all you can eat salad bar and a milkshake (yeah, I know). I went for the prime rib special. Usually this is pretty good but tonight it was one of the worst I ever got here. It was VERY tough which was odd to me.

We came back here to Main Street Station after dinner and hit the triple plays again. We got a little more play than we have been but the usual was still happening. I had few dealt winners and was going too many hands with no payouts at all. Dee was hovering but then got blasted dropping her $100. Between us we dropped yet another $300 making it a terrible day at the machines.

It was getting late we we finished up the day with cashing in our 32 scratch cards. 29 of them were for $2 and 3 of them were for $3 for a total of $67.

Total win/loss for the day - $700
Total Comps for the day $166
Room $42
Cash/Free Play $67 (Includes Scratch Cards)
Food $57

Day 15
Friday June 26, 2015
We got up and started our day with some video poker action. As usual we chose the 3/5 plays again. This time around things were pretty good for me. I was popping quads often including aces. Dee was quad deprived having run almost 3k through the machine before her first quad. Oddly she was hovering close to even for a long time because of an abnormally high number of full houses. My luck didn't end with quads when I held 3 to a royal and scored the 4000 coin hit on line 5.

For late breakfast/early lunch we went over to the Cal Cafe. There was a long line but I'm emerald and a VIP so went into that line where the hostess decided to kind of ignore us. I got pissed and left before I blew my top on her. Trust me, it wouldn't have been a good scene. Instead we went to the Snack Bar. I got some saimen and Dee got a ham and cheese croissant. Nothing fancy and all good.

We came back to MSS and played more video poker. Nothing major happened except for Dee hitting aces and a bunch of other quads only to cash out even. Between us we lost about $50.

We went up to the room for a break and then headed out. First stop was to get our laundry. The next stop was to get a quick lunch at Jack in the Box consisting of 2 free tacos for answering a survey and a chicken sandwich. This was just to hold us over until dinner.

On the way back downtown I stopped to get the car washed. Normally I would never do this with a rental car but the drive through Christmas Tree Pass the other day was messy and the Tahoe was totally filthy. Every time we got anywhere near it we got filthy too. It was a worthwhile $7.

From here we went over to the D where I had a 4 night offer with $75 free play, $50 food $50 match play and 2 free show tickets to Defending the Caveman. We don't need this room but Dee's cousins arrive tomorrow and they'll be staying in it.

We checked in quickly and went up to the room to check it out. I haven't stayed here since it was Fitzgerald's and that was way back in 1997! We were given room 1508 This is a room with 2 queens, a nightstand, a dresser/work desk, and 32” flat screen TV. It has a view of of the Four Queens and the top of the Fremont Street Experience. The bathroom is small with basic bathroom needs.

We threw some stuff in the room and headed back over to Main Street Station for more video poker action. This session was interesting. Dee was getting her ass handed to her and dropped $100 before I could look over. She was on her last hand and got dealt 2 pair and drew 2 full houses. The next hand she was dealt trip aces and popped a quad shooting her meter up to $140! She then bled all of the way down to her last hand and had to switch to triple play and then got the meter back up again, only to lose it all in the end. It was pretty exciting though. My session was uneventful and I cashed out down just a few bucks.

We met up with Yahtzee Mike who was in town and hung out for a while in the casino and then went to dinner at the buffet. The plan was to go to the Triple 7 but the place was packed so we opted for the buffet. We got there just before the crowds arrived. We had a good meal before heading out. Mike got tickets to see Blue Man Group so we all headed out to the Monte Carlo.

I had seen Blue Man Group years ago when I used to play at the old Mandalay Resort Group properties but that was a while ago. Dee had never seen them and was looking forward to it. It was standard Blue Man Group with lots of strange but neat things going on. We all enjoyed the show.

When the show was over we came back down to Main Street Station. Me and Dee went back to VP and Mike hung out with us. I was hitting a good amount of quads again and it seemed every time I hit on, Dee hit one. This made it easy for the attendants when it came to giving out scratch cards. During the conversation Dee held her cards and looked over to Mike and I looked over to her only to see the other 2 cards pop up on line 3 for our second royal of the day. She was pretty excited to have finally hit one at the quarter level. We continued to pound away with nothing else major happening. I cashed out with a $100 and Dee lost about $125, excluding the royal winnings.

It was starting to get late so we wrapped up in the casino with a stop at the cage to cash in some tickets and redeem our 26 scratch cards that were all for $2 for an additional $52.

Day 16
Saturday June 27, 2015
For breakfast we went to Magnolia's at the Four Queens with Yahtzee Mike. I got Canal Street. It's 2 eggs bacon and French toast. Dee got the Jazz of 2 eggs, toast & hash browns. Mike picked up the tab with his comps. Thanks Mike!

After breakfast we went to the 9/6 jacks machines at the Four Queens again. Dee had the same deal I did a few weeks ago with $200 free play. We also had the ACG coupon for 2x points (up to 500). Dee started off well hitting a quad and then hovering. I was getting slammed going as many as 18 hands in a row with no pays. Flush 4 was killing me, I hit no straights and 1 full house before dropping $200. Oddly I had hit 2 quads. We found it odd that I had more quads than straights, flushes and full houses combined. Dee continued to plug along on her original bet when me and Mike hear here say “Hey, I got it”. We look over and there's a diamond royal sitting on her screen. She got her $2000 hand pay and continued to plug along while I poured more money into my machine.

Things leveled off for me for a while but it still wasn't pretty. Dee continued to play on her original $100 this whole time. I was almost down $300 at this time so it was time for a Hail Mary. I switched to double-double hoping to hit a quad since it was well over an hour since my last one. Sometimes this works out well and sometimes, most of the time I end up busting out. Well today it didn't go according to play as I didn't hit a quad. I did however hit my own diamond royal for another $2000 payoff!

We continued to play and I started bleeding again dropping another $200 with very little action. Dee continued to play on her $100 and cashed it out at $200. Between us we were down $400 but had $4000 tucked away for a $3600 winning session.

We moved over to the 100 plays to change things up and get the rest of our action in. We chose bonus deuces for nickels. Dee started out like a ball of fire again shooting her $200 up to over $800. She was getting good dealt hands and hit everything possible except a royal and 4 deuces with an ace. I was bleeding on my machine even though I hit a number of premium hands including deuces 4 times. Between my loss and her win we decided to switch to pennies. Suddenly she started to bleed but I got hot. Sadly just a few hands after switching to pennies I got dealt 4 aces and drew 13 sets of quints. Soon after I was dealt 4 to a royal and landed 4 natural royals for a whopping $40 each. I'll take it but damn, why did those hands happen at nickels? We got out of the 100 plays even and had reached our play goal.

Afterwards we turned in Dee's coupon for 2x points and then ran some of her free play through her favorite Butterfly 7's machine where you could win a car. I don't think they've ever given this car away and I'm really doubtful we'll ever win it either. Oddly she does fairly well here on this bank of machines. Today she did not. We ran the rest through some penny machines for some fun with a fair amount of luck. Once the $200 free play was run through the machine there was $185 left.

We left the Four Queens and headed back over to Main Street Station with a stop at the Cal for an early dinner at the Market Street Cafe. I got one of the daily specials of chicken katsu and Dee had the ravioli. Mine was standard Cal food, nothing fancy and basic. Dee however said her ravioli were excellent.

We took a break up in the room and then headed out of Main Street Station and went down to the Silverton. We both had offers for $100 free play. We usually play the 100 plays here but today I wished we hadn't. We dropped $1000 between us with no major hits. Dee got nothing better than 2 pair dealt and I got only two 3 of a kinds, a straight and a flush. To make things even worse we got only 7k in action between us.

We started with running the free play on penny games. We started off well and then decided to run the rest of it through Spin Poker. I had $50 left, Dee still had $100 and I cashed in $200 worth of points. Things were decent here especially when I got dealt quad kings. By the time we were done running the free play through we had nearly $600 and got the hell out of there with minimal damage overall.

We left Silverton and went to the airport. The cousins would be arriving tonight from Canada and their flight is scheduled to land at 10:46pm. We got to the airport with plenty of time to spare. Their flight landed on time and we met them at baggage claim.

We loaded everything into the car and were off to downtown. To the D so we could get the Cousins into their room and settled in. I decided it was just going to be easier to leave the car here and we'd walk back over to Main Street Station.

They hadn't eaten in a long time so we went over to the Fremont to Lanai Express. Dee just had juice and I got a bowl of saimen.

It was getting late so we just came back to Main Street Station. I stopped at the Boar Bar real quick to see Ronnie and then we came up to the room and watched TV until we went to bed. This was the latest we've been up this while trip. It's 2am, good night!

Day 17
Sunday June 28, 2015
We slept in today and started off the day by going over to the California Snack bar to get a bite to eat. We split an egg roll and wonton platter. As usual, the egg rolls weren't hot all of the way though.

We hit the casino here at Main Street Station next and some five play video poker. I started out hot hitting aces and a straight flush. I hit a few other quads and then got dealt kings. I had the meter up $400 before a slow bleed started. A few more quads and another set of aces that put right back up there again and then the faster bleed started. Dee wasn't doing so hot. She had few quads and not much else. She was feeding in bills. I pulled the plug on this session with a small $50 win since my wins pretty much offset her losses.

We took a break for a while and then we were back at it again. This time was a nightmare. We dropped $600 between us in 40 minutes with no quads and only 3k in action.

We met back up with the cousins at the D around 5:00pm. We had set up dinner plans at the Orleans Buffet with Yahtzee Mike and Las Vegas Norm and Andrea for 6pm. We drove the scenic route down the strip. Traffic wasn't too bad but there were a few douche bag drivers that should have stayed home.

The buffet at the Orleans is one of the better ones out there. It's not high end like those on the strip but it's a great locals casino buffet. Lots of selection and good quality. We spent a few hours here eating and getting caught up with everyone. Tonight is Mike's last night in town so we said our goodbyes to him and to Norm and Andrea and we went on our way.

We dropped off the cousins at the D and then came back to Main Street Station for some more video poker. We hit the 3/5 plays again. This session was a mirror opposite of the previous one. We were getting quads and dealt winners here. I got dealt quad deuces here this session too. I also got dealt a diamond flush with 4 to a royal. As luck would have it I dumped the odd card and up popped a 4 of diamonds on line 5 turning the 125 coin winner into a 25 coin winner! We cashed out with Dee up $11 and I was up $200 so that cut the earlier losses to something a little more reasonable.

When we were done for the day we had 29 scratch cards that were worth $60.

We decided to pack it in a little early tonight because tomorrow we are going to do it all over again.

Day 18
Monday June 29, 2015
Today started with the cousins meeting us at the Fremont Buffet. I used my silver card to get 2 of us in and then just used points to pay for the other 2 buffets. Dee really likes this buffet and I can take it or leave it. It's mediocre at best.

We were off to the D. We went to the fitness center here for a while and then went to the pool with the cousins. We stayed until we were lightly crisped and then went to get cleaned up.

We hit the casino to get some action in. Since we don't play a lot here to get these offers we chose single line video poker for halves. I also turned in a coupon from the ACG for $5 free play for every 500 points. Things were awful here. Few quads and like the other day at the Four queens it wasn't uncommon for me to go 15 hand without a payoff. We dropped $800 and didn't even get much action. We switched machines and played NSUD upstairs. We had to play really slow because Dee wasn't that familiar with the game and I haven't played it much in the last few years. Plus going from jacks to deuces can be tricky. I started off strong but then went into the deuces drought. Dee was doing ok but the the same happened to her. We dropped another $150 for a terrible loss of $950 on only 10k in action. I stopped by the booth to collect my free play from the coupon promotion. Between that and my regular $75 free play I had a total of $175.

We stopped by the host office to see if we could get 2 additional tickets to see Defending the Caveman to go along with the 2 from my mailer. They were given without question and we went to the box office to grab the tickets.

We met up with the cousins for dinner at the D Grill. None of us have ever been here before but we all thought the food was good. I had a BBQ pork sandwich with fries and Dee had angel hair pomodoro. She said it was good and she'd get it again. My sandwich and fries were good as well. My only issue is the D must think they are on the strip because their menu is pricey for downtown. We used the $50 in food credits that came with the mail offer and paid the additional $3 out of pocket.

After dinner we ran that $175 free play through a quarter NSUD machine and turned it into $150. This dropped our losses for the day down to $800. Still effing awful.

It was a little early for the show so we wandered around upstairs and played $10 through some penny games for some fun. No major hits and very little play out of it.

It was time for the show so we lined up like sheep to get in. We got seated in one of the booths in the back of the room. There really aren't any bad seats in this small showroom. The show was amusing and Kevin Burke does a good job in his routine. With that said, had I paid full price like some people did for this show, I would have felt ripped off.

The cousins left and went up to their room and we headed out with a quick stop in the casino to run a few match plays. I had $25 match plays from my mailer. First I played black and 8 black came up and the next spin I played odd and red 23 came up. Between the 2 match plays I won $100.

We left the cousins and headed back over to Main Street Station to get some action in over here. We hit the usual 3/5 plays and had piss poor luck this time finishing up the session down with 11 scratch cards worth $23. We only got 6k in action and dropped yet another $500. Dee even hit aces and threes and still dropped $200.

We came back to the room and pretty much hit the bed because it was after midnight and we have to get up tomorrow and get ready to move.

Day 19
Tuesday June 30, 2015
We started off the day with a final breakfast from the snack bar at the Cal. They were out of ham and cheese croissants so I got a side order of Spam for Dee and I got some egg rolls. Not exactly what were were expecting but did the trick.

Once we were done eating we finished getting ready for the day, packed up the rest of our stuff and headed out.

We drove over to the D to pick up the cousins and in just a few minutes we were on our way.

First stop was to the Westgate to check on odds for some sports bets for a friend at work. The next stop was Bally's to get show tickets with our free diamond and 7* tickets. The original plan was to see 50 Shades, the Parody but it was dark until July 2. Instead we opted for Jubilee. I saw the previous version of this show and didn't care for it at all but figured we could give it a try for free. We both got our vouchers and went over to the box office. The lady there got us table JJ on the floor so we were right near the stage. I asked how much these tickets normally go for and she told me they were $116 each so between all four tickets this is a $464 comp.

From there it was off to the Rio where we'll be staying for the next 5 nights. I got a room comp just by booking on their website for a Samba Strip View king. Dee also booked 4 nights for the cousins using a coupon offer that offered 3 nights, $25 free play and $30 in food. We added a 4th night for the rate of $31 that we would use reward credits to cover.

We all checked in at the diamond/7* area. I was given room 34011. It's in the Masquerade Tower. This is the first time in many years I've been in this tower and it's only the second time I've ever been in it in all of my years coming here. This room has a king bed with 2 nightstands. There's a couch, coffee table, work desk and flat screen TV. The room has a view of of the pools and the strip from Harrah's down to the Stratosphere and even downtown. The bathroom is two rooms. The main vanity is outside. Long counter with coffee maker, hair dryer and a sink. The main bathroom has another vanity, toilet and shower with the odd peek through window into the bedroom.

Dee was given room 31017. She booked a classic king bu they upgraded her to a Samba Strip View with 2 queens. The room is pretty much identical to ours except the strip view is a little less starting at Treasure Island.

I was also in contact with a host. Last year when we stayed here there were some major issues and they offered to make good on it. On of those things was to add a $200 resort credit to the room. I also had this host block some tickets to see Jeff Dunham on Thursday night at Planet Hollywood. Everything seemed in order at check in! I was shocked.

Once we were all settled into our rooms we hit the diamond lounge. They had typical chips and dips, spring rolls and to my surprise baked chicken. Real chicken, not just little chicken wings. Not only that but the chicken was really good. There was also the typical desserts of small tart like items, brownies and cookies.

We left the Rio and went back to Bally's to catch the show. Before the show I ran over to Paris and saw Ned the dealer. I didn't have much time to talk but it was good to see him. He used to be a dealer out at Fiesta Henderson back in the days when me and Yahtzee Mike used to roll the dice all day long out there. It was good to see him and I headed back to Bally's.

Our seats for the show were right by the stage and it was a good vantage point to see all of the boobies! This version of the show was a little better than the previous version in my opinion but it's still not my kind of thing. I can appreciate all that goes into it though.

For a late dinner we went to Tuscany so the cousins could see the place and to use up some comps I had built up. Dee got the French Toast special with 2 French Toasts, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage. I got the chicken pot pie. It had a good puff pastry crust on it and the standard food service chicken pot pie filling.

We made one more stop for some snacks at the Shell Station on Flamingo next to the Westin and then came back to the Rio and wrapped up another day.

Day 20
Wednesday July 1, 2015
Happy Canada Day to my Canadian Readers
Today saw us starting off with sleeping in. Once we were up at at 'em we went over to the Gold Coast to check in. I had booked a 3 night stay here that overlaps with the stay at the Rio. I used a mail offer for 2 nights, $10 per day in food and $15 per day in free play and had a host pick up the 3rd night. I figured since we would be doing most of our play here it would be nice to have a place to take breaks. We would also be able to use the pool here which we like because it's smaller and quieter than the pool at the Rio.

Checking in was quick like it usually is here and we were all set with room 731. This is an accessible room with 2 double beds. It has a dresser, work desk, nightstand and a 32” flat screen TV. It has a view of Palms. The bathroom is basic with a roll in shower, and sink. The view out the shower window is of the strip.

We hit the casino after getting into the room. We played the triple/five plays here. I started off doing well hitting quad aces after being down instantly. It was good to get back to even and then a bunch of smaller hits got me ahead. Dee wasn't as lucky and lost a little bit.

We took a short break and then went to lunch at the Noodle Exchange. Dee had the Lo Mein lunch special and I had the Aloha Noodle Soup. Everything was good here but the service was it's typical slow self.

We were back at the machines again riding the roller coaster. Dee lost a bill quickly but then hovered nicely on her second bill. She even came back with quad aces and a few bonus quads. It was me that was feeding in bills this time. For one of my hail Mary attempts I switched to the super volatile triple double bonus. 3 times I was dealt trip aces but couldn't pull the 4th. Then on a 2 card hold I finally hit quad aces and missed the kicker by one card with a 5 instead of the 4. this was an $800 difference but I was happy to hit the kickerless aces.

We cashed out with about a $400 loss for the day. My next stop was to hit the slot club and have them add my $15 in free play. I also had the LVA coupon for play $10 get $10, at $10 match play from a fun book I got at check in and a free gift for earning 200 points. The gift was a lame car window shade. Next it was off to the penny machines to run it through. This was probably one of the worst runs on slots we've had this trip. Just running the $25 through the machines once and we only cashed out $6 and change.

The final stop before we left was the roulette wheel to use the match play. I played my normal black and red came up. This took us to 2 and 6 on match plays.

We came back over to the Rio and made dinner plans for the Voodoo Steakhouse with the cousins. I made a 7:15pm reservation through Open Table and then we took a break in the room for a while until it was time to go.

I have never been up here and it was really cool riding up the glass elevator to the top of the tower. The place is a bit high but you're paying for the views. I ordered a 20oz bone in rib eye. Dee got a seafood pasta. When the food came out everything was good except one of the cousins had to send her filet mignon back. She ordered it medium rare and it came out medium well and was all dried out. There was no issue sending it back and they brought her a nicer filet. The menu here is also a la carte and sides are all $10. I think that's a bit much. Wine was also pretty pricey and there were 2 glasses ordered at $18 a pop. Overall it was a good meal and the bill was $300. Me and Dee used our $100 diamond celebration vouchers and then charged the balance to the room to use up some of the $200 room credit we had.

For dessert tonight we chose to leave Voodoo and went to the All American Grill. After seeing the prices for desserts here we should have just stayed up on the roof. Me and Dee got chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. The cousins got an apple crumble pie with vanilla ice cream. These were $10 each and we also charged these to the room.

The cousins headed up to their room and me and Dee hit the VP machines for a short session. We don't play much here so bought in for $200 each on dollar machines. I hit quad deuces for $200 but Dee busted out. I cashed out and we were even so bought in again for $100 each. Dee busted out first with no quads and she ended with 4 to a royal 4 different times. I got a little more action than she did this time around but no more quads. We dropped $200 here and pulled the plug on gaming here.

We made a quick stop at the cage to get Dee's free play only to be told to go to Total Rewards. So we went to Total Rewards only to end up with a voucher to take back to the cage. I said fuck it, we'll get it tomorrow because I'm not going back over there to get the reel rewards vouchers.

We got back to the room around 11pm, watched some TV and went to bed.

Day 21
Thursday July 2, 2015
This morning we went over to the Gold Coast. We started with some muffins for breakfast from Java Vegas. The we hit the gym and pool area for a while with the cousins. We stayed here until we had the consistency of a French fry and then wen tin to get cleaned up.

We had lunch plans with my friend Gary at the Noodle Exchange. Dee had Chinese vegetable lunch special. I went with the lemon chicken lunch special that came with egg drop soup, egg roll, fried rice and crispy chicken with lemon sauce. We had a great time with Gary and a good meal. There was one strange thing that happened. This lemon chicken is typically 2 thin slices chicken breasts coated in panko and fried. When they are done they are sliced and stack on top of each other. I ate them as chicken fingers dipping them into the sauce. When I got to the last 2 pieces they looked a little strange. So I broke on up a bit and it was flaky. It looked like fish and a smell of it confirmed that it WAS fish. How the hell do 2 pieces of fish end up on a plate?

We hit the casino for some video poker action. This was one of the better sessions we've had this trip. I was instantly up $100 by hitting 2 quads. Dee hovered and then started hitting quads too. I was getting lots of dealt straights, flushes and full houses. I even got dealt quad threes. Dee started to tank a bit but I continued on. Dee hit a few more quads to keep alive but then ended up cashing out even. I cashed out with about $300 up. It was actually good to have a winning session without hitting a royal for a change.

I made a quick stop at the slot club to get my $15 free play added to my card. We tried a new slot machine with this. Things were not good here and we hit little. I turned the $15 free play into $12 cash.

Based on play I earned 2 entries to the free video poker tournament so went over to the Tournament Alley to play. My first session was not good only scoring 900 points. When I do these tournaments I play aggressive for kicker quads and royals and nothing was working out. My second session I hit fours with a kicker on my first hand and just like that already had 800 points (compared to 900 for the whole previous session). I didn't hit much else other than quad kings and ended up with 1900 points. We'll see tomorrow if it holds up. I know from past experience playing in this tournament that you usually need aces and a kicker to make the money.

We met up with the cousins and were off to Planet Hollywood. My host set up tickets for the 4 of us to see Jeff Dunham. But, when we got to the box office there was no record of this. I was NOT happy. After a lot of punching around on the computer and numerous trips to the back to talk to her supervisor a girl named Becky managed to get us 4 great seats to the show. We were in the front section Row G seats 109 – 112. The show was non stop laughs the whole time we were there. These seats were a little bit pricey but it was a fun time and we all enjoyed seeing the show.

For dinner tonight we chose to go to Planet Dailies. We just had some appetizers instead of full meals. Dee got chicken fingers and fries and I got a small macaroni and cheese. We shared these items and we full when we left.

We left Planet Hollywood and went down to the Luxor. The cousins never saw it before and wanted to check it out. They also walked over to Mandalay Bay to check that out while me and Dee stayed back and put $20 into a penny game. Welcome to the strip. We got very little play for the $20.

We wrapped up the night with gassing up the car and stopping at Jack in the Box for milkshakes. This effing Tahoe is a gas guzzler and still having ¼ of a tank left it still took over $60 to fill it! The milkshakes from Jack were really good though!

Day 22
Friday July 3, 2015
Today is the cousin's last day in town so we were hopefully going to make the best of it for them. They went over to the Gold Coast to the pool. We went downtown to the Four Queens.

We parked at valet at the D and then walked over to the Four Queens. I have a July offer giving me $200 in free play and if I earn 2000 points in 72 hours I get another $200 in free play. We started off playing dollar 9/6 jacks. I'm not a huge fan of playing dollars but we didn't have a ton of time. Dee was off to the races popping 3 quads in the first 15 minutes including the dreaded aces. She had her meter up nicely. I was hovering with just one quad but not doing too bad. Things started to change I Dee hovered but I was feeding in bills. Between us we were ok though so we continued at the dollar level. She hit a downward spiral and I came back a little bit. We were half way to the goal of 2000 points and took a break for lunch down just $200.

Lunch was at Magnolia's Veranda. Dee had eggs and I had a hot turkey sandwich. We filled up and were back to the machines.

We continued with dollar action and Dee was getting beat up, she lost all of her gains and another $100 and I dropped $100. Between us we were down $500 and almost to our goal.

We switched over to the 50/100 plays and some deuces bonus. Dee played the 50 play and I was on a 100 play. Dee was up and down with no major wins. I was getting dealt plenty of trips to start with and a few quads. These kept the meter steady. I did manage to hit a set of deuces on one hand where I held a single deuce. During the whole session never hit 4 deuces with an ace though. I also got dealt 4 to a royal. When this happened last week I hit 3 royals on pennies. Today though I was playing nickels. I held the 4 cards and drew. Wild royals were popping up and then the real ones. By the end of the draw I'd hit 5 natural royals at $200 a pop for a grand plus the wild royals, flushes and straights. The total win for the hand was $1080.

We reached our goal and went to the slot club to have the extra free play loaded to my card. I also cashed out my points for $150. This was 2 – 3 trips worth that I had in my account. I took a shot running the free play through $1 jacks or better. It wasn't great but not bad. I managed to hit quad 7's and cashed out with $440.

We walked over to Binion's to get our picture taken at the $1,000,000 display at the request of the cousins. They wanted a picture of us from the trip to take home. After wandering around for 30 minutes and losing $10 in penny games the pictures were ready and we went back to the D to fetch the car.

We came back to the Rio for a short break and then met up with the cousins and went to the Strip. We had plans to go to Guy Fieri's Las Vegas at the Linq with the cousins and my friend Anne and her family. I redeemed $200 of my 7* celebration dinners. Everyone arrived and we were seated outside. As hot as it is outside the patio wasn't too bad. I got a bacon mac n cheese burger that comes with fries. Dee got the turkey picnic sandwich. For dessert we split the triple – double mint chocolate chip ice cream. Everyone else enjoyed their meals and desserts too. This place is pretty reasonable with it's prices and 8 of us had dinner, drinks, and desserts for $195 ( I hated wasting that $5 and would have ordered an extra drink had I realized we were under $200). After dinner we said our goodbyes and left the strip.

We dropped the cousins off here at the Rio and then went over to the Gold Coast. Over at the Gold Coast I checked the scorecard from yesterday's video poker tournament and to my surprise took the bottom spot in 35th place for a $50 free play win. We hit the video poker machines again. The machines were good today.
Dee lost $100 quickly but her second bill caught on fire. She was hitting more quads than she could keep count of including dealt sixes. Few were bonus quads and none were aces but I never saw so many quads. I was doing well scoring a good number of quads including aces. My machine fell apart though and I ended up losing my original $100 bill plus another one. Dee started losing too so we cashed out with a small $100 win but got a lot of play.

We ran the $50 free play through NSUD at the 50¢ level. Not many deuces showed up this time around and the $50 in free play became $40.

To wrap up the day we came back here to the Rio for some TV and then bed.

Day 23
Saturday July 4, 2015
Happy Independence Day to My American Readers
I was up early today because the cousins had an early flight and I needed to take them to the airport. They had a 10:30am departure so I wanted to get them there with plenty of time. We left the Rio and since it was so early there wasn't much traffic at all. I dropped them off at their terminal and headed back to the Westgate to make those football bets I was looking at last week.

My next stop was the Gold Coast. I wanted to have the few room charges we had comped by a host. After a quick stop to the host office and a a check of the room to be sure nothing was left behind I checked out and came back over here to the Rio.

When I got back I got caught up on this very trip report and that's where we are now.

We had no real plans today so we decided we'd play a bit here. We played some triple/five play with short pay tables instead of playing dollars. Nothing serious with no large coin in plans. Dee hit a few quads and cashed out even while I dropped a few hundred.

Next Dee still had her $25 free play for booking the room. We played a variety of penny slots for fun. We hit some bonus rounds but nothing major. We did play one of the new Ellen machines and scored a bonus round for over $80. We cashed out with almost $100 so a pretty nice return getting an hour of play and a $100 on the free play.

We took a break up in the room for a while and actually fell asleep for way too long! I guess we needed it though.

For dinner we went to the buffet here at the Rio. I was surprised to see that they removed the entire first station that had the soups and salads one it. There's a wall there now. They also removed the diamond/7* entrance and just added another line at the main entrance. Just another case of Caesars Entertainment discouraging high level players.

After dinner we played a little bit more taking a small shot at the dollar games. Dee was hovering and the held 3 aces and caught the 4th for the $400 hit. Soon after she was dealt quad kings. I was hovering myself and then I popped for queens. We cashed out with about a $600 win and ran away.

For a little fun we decided to play one of the video blackjack games. That was until I realized it was a 6-5 game. Fuck that. As soon as I realized it we cashed out and ran away away as fast as we could. Luckily we won $20!

We came back to the room to watch the fireworks but they were launched from Caesars Palace and we couldn't see them, only could hear them. We were able to see the fireworks from the Stratosphere though.

Total win/loss for the day $400
Total Comps for the day $358

Day 24
Sunday July 5, 2015
We were up early today and started off by packing up the rest of our things. Today is moving day and we'll be leaving the Rio. It's been nice staying put here for the last 5 nights and the previous 6 nights at Main Street Station.

Once we were all packed up we checked out. I had some room charges from show tickets. I still had about $10 left on my food and beverage credit so went to the Sports Deli and got us a sandwich to go. Then I went back to check out I used reward credits to cover the costs of the show tickets and then we got out of here.

We left the Rio and went up to Arizona Charlie's Decatur. I had $90 in free play from a mailer to use. We played in the non smoking room. The triple/five/ten play machines we being played so we took a chance with the straight up ten play machines. Dee started off well popping some quads. I was hovering and got a dealt straight then flush back to back but from there it was all downhill. I dropped 2 bills. Dee almost busted out but had a come back and only ended up down $75.

We used the $90 free play on some penny games. We did well on the first game but not so hot on the others. We turned the $90 into only $65 which wasn't that good. On the way out we stopped off at the gift shop to use a $3 credit I had from the kiosk for a few snacks and then took off.

The next stop was to the laundromat to drop off laundry for fluff and fold service. It's nice to have all the clothes washed and folded for the trip home and not to have to bother with it after vacation.

It was still early so we stopped at the Pinball Hall of Fame. Dee stayed in the car and napped while I went inside and played. This place is always a lot of fun and a cheap alternative to gambling!

Next up we made our way to the strip and to Cosmopolitan. This would be the final move of the trip for us as this trip is almost over.

I booked this on a mailed offer of 3 nights and $180 in free play. When I made the reservation I was told I'd be getting a 1 bedroom Terrace Room. This seemed a little bit too good for the action we did here back in December and I would believe it when I see it.

Checking in here was easy. Once we got to the desk we were indeed given the 1 bedroom Terrace in the East Tower room number 5590. This room has a living room when you enter with a couch, coffee table, and armchair. There's a work desk and 42” TV. There is also a wet bar area with a dishwasher and microwave. Unfortunately the fridge is a mini bar but the bottom has a freezer. There are 2 large closets to the right and on the left is a very large bathroom. To the far left is the toilet room. In the center is a double vanity sink and to the right is a wet room with shower that walks through to a Japanese Soaking Tub. The tub has a window looking outside. The bedroom is small with a king bed, night stands and flat screen TV. There is also a Terrace with a chair and table on it. This room has views of Bellagio, the West Tower, Aria, Vdara and Monte Carlo. You can also see the pool that was booming with loud music on Sunday afternoon.

We got set up in the room and then went over to Bally's. The plan was to get tickets to 50 Shades the Parody using my free monthly tickets. Last month we wanted to go to this and were told it was dark but would open on 7/2. Today we arrive and now it's dark until 7/8. I was not amused. We went tot he diamond lounge for dinner. Tonight they offered vegetables and chips/dip. The hot items were chicken wings and these things they called feta & sun dried tomato purses. There was the usual selection of small desserts and cookies.

We came back to Cosmo and hit the casino. First up was to activate my free play and then it was to machines for some VP. We chose to play the 100 play machine for dimes. We took it easy only doing 30 lines with the plan if we were doing well to increase the number of hands. Things here weren't too bad. We were getting good play in but were losing. I had to put in a 3rd bill but things were good from here. We were hitting a fair number of quads to keep alive. As the meter grew each time we got up but $100 we increased the number of hands up by another 10. One hand I got dealt trip aces and ended up with 4 sets. On another hand I was dealt trip threes and in 60 hands got non quads. That's was rough. Another bigger hand was being dealt 4 to an open ended straight flush. I only hit 2 of them in 40 hands with one being the dreaded king high version. I can't complain that much though because I held the 9! The highlight of the session was getting dealt quad nines with 40 lines in action.

We were up exactly $600 at this point and had run the amount of action we were looking to do so hit the cash out button. I ran my $180 free play though and turned it into just over $200 so it was a good night here at the Cosmopolitan.

It was getting late and had been a long day so we came to the room and ended the day with some TV.

Total win/loss for the day $600
Total Comps for the day $519
Rooms $220
Cash/Free Play $270
Food $12
Gift Shop $3

Day 25
Monday July 6, 2015
Today is our last full day in town. It's hard to believe it's over already. It seems just like yesterday we were checking into Tuscany.

Today we went downtown to the Four Queens again. Dee had the same offer I did a few days ago and then plan was to get her 2000 points and the bonus $200 in free play.

We started with something to eat at Magnolia's. Dee ordered the All that Jazz (2 eggs, hash browns and toast) and I went with the Canal Street (2 eggs, bacon, French Toast). Everything was good but the service was weak with long waits (it was slow in here) and never being checked on.

When breakfast was done we started off with $1 9/6 jacks or better. I was hovering despite not hitting any quads. Dee was bleeding to death. Finally she hit a quad but she was still getting killed. I started going up and down and was in for 3 bills before I hit a quad and a bunch of full houses. I was almost even at one point. We continued to plug away when I dealt 3 to a royal and filled it in for the $4000 hit!

We switched it up and got of dollars and tried the 50/100 plays and some bonus deuces. I started out well getting some dealt winners and a number of quad deuces. It wasn't enough though and I bled $400. Dee wasn't doing much better and dropped $350. The real killer here was Dee getting dealt not one, but 2 natural quads.

We were close to our goal of 2000 points and I didn't want to lose much more of the royal money so opted to finish it off at quarters. Of course I hit 4 quads in about 10 minutes and had the meter up over $100 while Dee hovered. As always the last few points did us in and we lost 50 between us but we'd reached our goal.

We went tot he slot club to have Dee's bonus free play added. The girls there said they could do the paperwork but we'd have to wait until about 2pm for a supervisor to add it. I was starting to get pissed off and told them that was unacceptable. Then a girl came out of the back ans asked the girls at the booth what was going on. They told her and she made a call (my guess is to the supervisor) and got it added immediately. We also cashed out Dee's points which were worth $150. Like mine this is a few trips worth.

It was back to the machines and more jacks or better. We ran the free play through halves. Things were choppy here but Dee hit a quad to keep things in check. We only got about $350 out of the $400 though.

We left the Four Queens in went into bankroll preservation mode. There would be no more gambling today so if that's what you're interested in reading, the rest of the day will not be for you.

The first stop after leaving the Four Queens was to the bank to make a nice deposit. Next we went to the laundromat to pick up our clothes all nicely folded for the trip home.

From there were took a short stop and went to the Ethel M Cactus Garden. It was too early for dinner so we took a short drive through town and then stopped at the Pinball Hall of Fame again. Dee took another nap in the car and I played some more classic games for about an hour.

For dinner we went to Orleans buffet. It was so good last week when we went we decided to go again. Plus I had plenty of comps at Boyd so it was a good choice. It was good again and we ate too much. We did take it easy on the desserts though because when we left we hit Jack in the Box for one last milkshake. We also grabbed some muffins for breakfast from Java Vegas.

After dinner we came to the room to wrap things and up get ready for tomorrow's dreadful day.

Day 26
Tuesday July 7, 2015
Today we go home. I think it sucks but I guess we can't stay here forever. Since we have the room for the whole day there was no reason to get up super early and get out. Our flight isn't until 5:40pm so we have the morning to ourselves.

I packed up the few things we took out of the suitcase for this stay and we got everything ready to go.

We decided for the last few hours we'd explore some of Cosmopolitan. We found the secret “hidden” pizza place and checked out the various art displays through the casino and meeting room areas.

We went across the street to Planet Hollywood and got some sandwiches to go at Earl of Sandwich. These will be to eat on the plane in a few hours while everyone else is eating peanuts and bad airport food.

We came back over to the Cosmo and finished getting ready for return home with some snacks and some TV.

It was time to get going so I loaded up the car and we headed out of the Cosmopolitan.

My first stop was to gas up and then it was off to the rental car center. Returning was was quick and the final bill matched the estimate. In just a few minutes we were out to the shuttle back to the airport.

Check in was quick and we were informed the flight was going to take off 30 minutes later than scheduled but still land close to on time. We headed up to security. Things here were smooth and no ass clowns were trying to smuggle contraband.

From there it was off to the gate where we had plenty of time before the flight. When it was time to board they let us on first so Dee could make her way to a seat.

This is flight 1752 non stop to Albany arriving at 1:20am (now 1:40). The flight was smooth and uneventful. Only one or to pockets of turbulence. We landed on late but made up plenty of tine in the air so it was only a few minutes. We got off the plane and got to baggage claim. While we were waiting for the bag to come out I got checked in over at Budget to pick up the car.

I had a one way rental getting a full sized car for $76 and would be returning it to my local airport tomorrow. They assigned me a GMC Terrain with 7000 miles on it. This car was in great condition. I gave it a once over and then we were on our way.

The 90 mile drive home was a bore at this hour of the day and at about 4:00am we pulled into the driveway as another one of our Las Vegas adventures came to an end (even though we were still registered guests of the Cosmopolitan and would be until 3pm eastern!)

Total win/loss for the day $0
Total Comps for the day $215
Rooms $200
Food $15

What a journey! Congratulations on the great comeback and big win for the trip.

I must have missed something on Day 3 - you won $1,500 at the craps table and did not gamble much afterwards, but at the end of the day show only a $50 win.

Good catch. I just looked at my records and the report is a typo. It should have said $750!

THANK YOU! I have been reading and enjoying your trip reports for years. I very much enjoy the detail and observations. Many, Many of your Effus I can relate to when I am in Vegas. My wife can always tell when you post a report as I start to bring up spending more than a week in Vegas. It is my goal one year to spend a whole month.

Congrats on another winning trip.
