Summer 2012 – Day 29
I had a good night’s sleep catching a solid 8 hours—first time in a while. I worked on the trip report while drinking coffee and watching the news. Again, I took the computer down to the Java House to turn post it. I thought about playing a little before I left but decided against it and went to the breakfast buffet instead. Again, with your slot card, it was only $4.99. It must have been a rough day for the cashier and waitress as both weren’t very personable. I was never asked if I wanted a re-fill and never heard a “good morning.” I left only a dollar tip this time instead of my usual two. Everyone can have a bad day.
I finally got out on the road at 11 AM. My next stop was to return again for one night to the Suncoast. For whatever reason, they only comp me one night instead of the usual two. Perhaps they’re hoping most people will simply pay for the next night—not me. Because they send me one free night per month, I was able to stay here just four days ago and then again here again.
As I was driving, I went by the Palms and wondered if I should stop in and swipe my card as it’s Senior Day again. I didn’t need to check in for another couple of hours, so I sat down at the 9/6 Jacks 50-play for two cents again. I put in a hundred. Once again, I was going through a session of not getting any three-of-a-kinds being dealt to me and I was beginning to get frustrated. Suddenly that all went away when I was dealt a straight flush. At the 2-cent level, this is a $250 win. Sweet!

Ain't it purdy?
Things weren’t done. Not long after that, holding only two cards I caught my 6th 2-cent royal. Not long after that—holding three cards, another royal and finally, a third royal—the 8th 2-cent royal of the trip. I was never dealt four-to-the-royal nor any other good hits or decent dealt cards. The machine went dead cold (they all do) and I lost a hundred and quit. All told, I made a $350 profit from our good friends at the Palm. I then went to swipe my card for the Senior promotion. In years past, there were logo mugs, bath towels, non-stick pots and pans, hats, shirts…this time my big win was a spaghetti grabber.

The logo giveaways have come down just a tad lately
I checked into to the Suncoast and was given room 615, very close to where I was last time. I took a pic of the view of the golf course, but it’s pretty much the same. I headed down to the casino to go after the 5-play nickel machines where the dealt royal has gone up over the $12,000 mark. I’ve never seen it this high. I have been dealt a royal on a couple of occasions, so anything is possible.

That's very high for dealt royal on a nickel game
I had to wait for a spot to open up. You can imagine with the royal SO high, people are going to play at these machines until it’s hit. I finally got a seat and played the only good game, the 6/5 Super Aces. It wasn’t long and hit the quad Aces for $100. I took that money out and put in another hundred. Now I’m playing with won money. I was almost down to $8 or $9 when I hit another quad Aces, which allowed me to start all over again. Needless to say, I didn’t hit the royal (or any royal for that matter) and finally lost the hundred, so I end breaking even on this game, but I did manage to add over 1000 points on my card.

The golf course view from my window. Odd thing is I've never been in a room with other view..
I had enough gambling for the day. I picked up a hot dog from the cart at the sportsbook and checked the movie times. The only movie I hadn’t seen was MOONRISE KINGDOM with Bill Murray and Bruce Willis. It got excellent reviews, but I have to tell you, I didn’t love it. (2 ½ claps)
It was almost 7 PM and though I considered some more playing, I decided to wait until tomorrow because the Suncoast is offering 11X slot and 7X video poker bonus points tomorrow. So I’m going to get up real early and hit on those 5-plays. Hopefully no one will hit the dealt royal tonight—it’s fun to dream.
More tomorrow
