Summer of Cal/Nev Day 6
There is certainly not going to be a lot today because I’m stuck at Harrahs for the majority of it. Yesterday, I wrote about a overheating problem with my Saturn Vue. Well, I too into the Chevrolet dealer, which conveniently is just across the river next to the Laughlin airport. No sooner did I drive up to the service bay than a salesman was there opening the door for me. “Hi! I’m Tommy…here for a trade in?”
I told Tommy that I was here for service. So, after filling out all the necessary paperwork, Tommy offered me a ride back to the hotel, and pulled up in a new Chevrolet. “Here, you take the wheel.” So, I drove back to the hotel while Tommy told me about how this car compared to my Vue and that they sell cars to Californians all the time; they do all the paperwork right there at the dealership. I told him I’m having the car serviced because I want to keep my car; however, I will one day need to buy a new one, and yes, it’s going to be a Chevrolet, probably an Equinox…and yes…they have plenty of them on the lot, but “don’t worry, take your time. We don’t pressure people here at Finlay Chevrolet.”
It was nice to get a ride back to the hotel so I wouldn’t be stuck at the dealership for five or six hours. I was hoping for the best. At 1:00 PM, I got the call. It turns out that the radiator was shot. They tried to reverse flush it and wouldn’t drain. I would require a new radiator. Oh, and they would have to order it from Lansing, Michigan. I’m only here until Sunday (which is three days longer than usual) and he said they could overnight it and get here no later than Friday. It would take most the day to install it, so the car could be ready Friday or Saturday. The cost? $1500 (an extra hundred for the overnight delivery). Yikes! This after I JUST paid $1500 for dental work before I left…AND…(my wonderful timing), I bought a 70” TV for another $1800.00 just a few days before the trip began (don’t ask…there was a good reason). So, look on the bright side…five Royals and I’m even! This is the very first major thing to go wrong with my six year old Saturn and as you very well know, I’ve really driven it hard over the years.

Harrahs Beach. It's around 102 today, almost pleasant for Laughlin in the summer standards

There are many. many fish swimming around the small pier at Harrahs. No idea why people don't fish. There aren't any signs.
So, I’m also stuck here at the hotel for the next five days. That’s not so bad except without a car my trip reports are going to be a little…let’s say…without much information or pictures. I’ll try my best. I do have the water taxi available to me so I can still go to the other casinos. I suppose I’ll see quite a few movies and just “hang around.”

Held three and caught the two royals on 50-play. It's a 2-cent game, so that was $80 each...eh.
More tomorrow
