I'm overdue for a TR, so here goes but I've forgotten much of it.
- Good SWA flight into LV the Saturday before Thanksgiving, quick airport shuttle to Caesars. We like the shuttle vs cab, one price, no worry about long-hauling.
- A gal on the shuttle could've passed for Meredith Baxter. I chickened out of asking her, figured MB wouldn't be riding an airport shuttle.
- Wanted Augustus Tower, seemed they were short on King Non-Smoking rooms at the time, so settled on Octavius. Room very nice but it is a long walk.
- Tried Central at Caesars for lunch, sat down, incredibly noisy, snooty. After 5 minutes of being ignored and ears assaulted got up and left. Prob won't go back. Still mourn the Augustus Cafe, the food and wonderful staff. Younger and chic-er vibe isn't necessarily better.
- Went to Payard, love the place. Almost didn't make the lunchtime closing, they close about 2 pm or so. Had a scrumptious grilled cheese/ham sandwich, some sort of excellent bread and spread, salad. Very nice personnel and not expensive, quiet.
- Caesars offer included $550 in play and 2 tickets to a "fashion show". This was a mystery event, nobody seemed to know much about it.
- CLV came in and we played side by side VP machines for a while, both did pretty good, "maintaining." Then it was getting on time for the fashion show, my husband talked CLV into going with me, sparing him from the agony. Turned out to be the "First Annual Fashion Show" with clothing from Macy's modeled by various CET hosts. Huge room, fancy sweet creations to eat and open bar, prize drawings. Kinda fun, didn't win any of the drawings. Can't complain, it was free, probably saved me a few hundred not gambling.
Sunday
- Met up with CLV at Mon Ami Gabi where we had fabulous blueberry French toast and bacon, best meal ever. Their bacon is outstanding, thick and crunchy. We learned to ask to sit either SIDE of the outside tables, where it is not noisy like it gets in the front, much more relaxing, still good viewing.
- Back to Caesars, CLV and I settled down in the Forum casino where we actually kicked some butt side by side on some 3/5 play machines, both of us hit Royals within minutes of each other, plus other good hits.
- A little later I hear CLV whooping it up. She had hit a quarter "Build A Wheel" progressive, I forget the exact amount but well over $5K! CLV, how much was it? I had never even heard of this machine. That was really exciting! CLV is truly the Queen of progressive jackpots.
- I think we passed up supper in favor of marathon VP and later some chips and dip leftovers in the Diamond Lounge. It all tasted better after 3 excellent lemon drop martinis (me), which made the walk to the room interesting.
Monday
- I think this was the day we accompanied CLV to the Venetian to collect her end of the year gift wrap up type goodies. This was fun, looking at all the stuff, how many points it all required, place was beautifully decorated in Christmas theme. She got some good stuff for her points, and was nice enough to pass on to me a pretty bag with good lotions and potions. THANK YOU CLV!
- CLV dropped Soott and I off at Bellagio to start that portion of the trip. Was in on an offer that included airport Limo, which we didn't use, I think $450 in Free Play, $300 in food, and 3 nights, host comped 2 more nights and got us a corner salon suite over the fountains.
- I had taken some home made chocolates candies to my blackjack dealers, so they fawned over me the whole time. A pit supervisor asked for the recipe to include in an employee cookbook they are working on. Might be my claim to fame if it happens...ha.
- Conservatory was gorgeous, of course, harvest theme.
- Ate Thanksgiving dinner in the Bellagio Cafe, very good.
- Did pretty well at the tables and enough at VP that I didn't lose my shirt. One $1200 jackpot. The 3/5 play machines at Bel that I used to nearly always win on, they are gone. We have the machine numbers, and Scott asked somebody who looked them up and made the sad pronouncement...gone. I truly believe they got rid of them because they paid out too often.
- Went back over to Caesars to see if lightening would strike again at "my" machine I had hit on Sunday night. Lady next to me was hitting, hitting, hitting, including quarter Royal, while I was losing, losing, losing, no lightening. Finally she left, I moved over to her machine thinking it was stupid to do that and hoping nobody would sit at "my" machine and hit something big. Well, that lady's machine was still hot because within about 30 seconds I hit for $800, cashed out and all but broke my neck running outta there.
- Played some VP at Wynn, didn't do squat. Ate a breakfast at Society Cafe. Excellent omelet and my favorite Oscar Crab Benedict...love it. Do this on our dime every trip, it is that good. Excellent service always in there.
Skipping to Saturday, day of departure.
- Had plenty of mLife Express Comp dollars to pay balance of food over the $300 at Bel. That's a good feature of mLife program.
- On to McCarran for flight home. This is when we heard the SWA people announce offer to move up into A 1-15 for $50. No thanks. Didn't see anyone rush up to do it. Now they have made it official that this will be an option when those spots are not filled. Another way to make money for SWA I suppose.
- Smooth non-stop flight home. Good trip overall, best part being with CLV and her big jackpot!
Well, that's about all I can remember. Back to the salt mines, don't have a clue about next trip. Thanks for reading.
