Got a 3 night offer for a slot tournament at TI with a small amount of free play attached.
Arrived Thursday Night 830pm. Used Alaska Air Companion Fare tickets ended up in last row of the plane ugh.. Usually use Alamo with costco codes for the car but couldn't get a good enough rate likely due to the PBR in town.
Went to Priceline and got a car from Avis for $14 plus all the fees. Upon arrival at Avis all of a sudden the total rate went up about $30. I complained to the Agent and found out that the total price on priceline didn't factor in a 33% tax on the CDW. The manager was nice enough to take it off and we ended up with a toyota corolla although as Avis Preferred Club we could have had an SUV. We tried the Ford Escape but it smelled like smoke. Usually I tip the lot guy $20 and get an upgrade to any SUV or Mini Van but this trip I wasn't planning on hauling anything.
Drove right to Treasure Island and went to check in. I always ask for South Tower South Strip view and again asked for that and the desk clerk complied (or so we thought). When we went to our room it was the North Tower North strip view. We then went back to the front desk and spoke with the same Desk Clerk. She apologized and said she was looking at the chart upside down?????She graciously changed our room to the South Tower South Strip view which I really enjoy. Room was great nice tub but internet was $19.99 a day so I used my ATT wireless card instead.
The slot tournament consisted of 3 15minute rounds and my wife played them. That's a lot of button pushing. She was in the top group as far as points the first round but fell in the rankings to where she only won $75 of free play. As we were playing the $1 9/6 JOB side by side, my wife held Ace, Queen, Jack, and Ten of Clubs. I watched as she hit the draw button (1 in 47 chance) and the King of Clubs came up for a 4K Royal Flush hooray! Love to hear the "clunk" the machine makes and that beautiful music. Didn't take long for a hand pay after which we quit and went and had a meal at Cantor's.
Found out that Canter's Deli at the TI is leaving. This was my favorite place for a bowl of soup and Pastrami.
Went out by the pool one day and the weather was almost 80 degrees quite a treat for a Seattleite.
Although we have two rental homes in Seven Hills we made a pact not to go there. Everytime we visit it seems like the tenants find something for us to do. I'll be glad that in a couple of years I will be living there in one of the homes. Plan to make a circuit of hitting all the 50+ club offers at the various casinos once retired.
Another couple of our favorite Restaurants also bit the dust. Guarduno's at the Palms apparently is leaving as well as the Original Pancake House on Charleston which burned down. We went to the Original Pancake House in Summerlin which is the last one standing but it's a ways out.
Played 8/5 Bonus Video poker at the M Resort but didn't catch anything with our free play. Went to Green Valley Ranch and played a little VP there but to no avail. Also went to Harrah's and put $20 in just to keep our points active. Played my Casino Royale free play and turned it into $60 cash so that worked out. Always a lot of happy drunks at the CR and I enjoy the people watching.
Went out to Red Rock and had their brunch on Sunday using points. Hadn't been there in a while but I thought the Buffet was pretty decent. Also played a litte super volitile Loose Dueces but they were not very loose.
Seems like no matter how many times we go to Vegas there are still many things we have left to do. I am still trying to get back to the beautiful walking trails they have in Seven Hills that connect the many parks. Also I would love to go to Red Rock Canyon as well as Mount Charleston. Also want to try the Wicked Spoon and Ceasars buffet but I guess that will have to wait for the next trip.
Got back to Avis Car Rental to return the car and sure enough the $30 tax was back on the bill. Went into the office and got the charges reversed without a lot of hassle. Also they had a clause in the contract that said if you didn't drive 75miles they would charge you for an automatic fill up. We drove more than that but I am sure that could be a problem. Not real happy with Avis this time.
Was a great trip and my wife got her first W2G of the year.
