It's been a long six months since our last Vegas vacation. Nasty Ohio winter and a workload that just doesn't let up(which actually is a good thing) And it sure doesn't look like Spring will ever show up around here, so it's time to go find some good weather and a little R&R. And since we hosted Mother's Day at our house on Saturday for 50+ family and friends, we are ready!
Flew out of Cleveland on SW. Arrived early, yet sat waiting for another plane to move from the gate. 30 minutes later, we are finally gathering bags, and off to the rental car facility. I found a compact car with Enterprise for $95. Not great but we've never had any issues with Enterprise. Harry tipped the yard lady and she upgraded us to any SUV. We chose the Kia Sportage since I drive a Sorento. At 9pm we were ready for no hassles getting to the hotel with stressing over a vehicle that we didn't know. A stop for supplies and we are at the Paris.
It was a no hassle checkin. We received a LeMans Suite. Love the bed, jacuzzi tub, fridge and walk in closet! Head to the room, unpack, have a beverage or two and we are on our way.
Of course the casino is packed. I get to the bar, gather a drink and begin to play. I actually start hitting some 4oKs and are starting to feel the effects of no sleep and a few beers. Harry heads to bed, I decide I'm going to stay down and play a bit more, move over to the progressive $ vp and put in $20 and hit four aces on ddb. I stick around and a few minutes later I hit a royal flush for the progressive. Woo hoo!

Who's tired now? Not me! I'm really excited since this is the first dollar royal I've ever hit. I rarely play that level, but once in a while ya just have that feeling.
Of course I have to run to the room, deposit money in the safe (now that is always a great feeling) and wake up my husband. He's excited for me but sticks with his original plan of staying in bed. I'm not ready to turn in yet. I should have stayed in the room since I proceeded to go back downstairs to check and see if the 'streak' was still there. Nope, it was gone, but not much damage done before I figured it was time to be smart and go to bed. Great way to start the trip.
Monday 5/9
The package we were booked for was the Mother's Day Spa package. We were extremely lucky that we were able to book our massages for Monday since the promotion was technically over on Sunday.
So up at 7ish, order room service coffee and muffins for breakfast along with the fruit basket that was sent up last night after we got there. (nice touch! it's been a long time since we have received any baskets or anything from our hosts)
The massage was for 10am. We were able to upgrade for a couple's massage for $40. We opted for the Stone Therapy and all we can both say is WOW. It was absolutely great. I can't wait to do it again. The 50 minutes were over too quickly! But now we are ready for the day.
We are meeting friends who drove down from Utah. Ron and Lil are staying over at Harrah's using the passes we received for I think Christmas that were for friends and family. At first we gave Ron the codes and he called, Harrah's was trying to charge for one day since they were 'booked' or whatever the excuse was. I told Harry he should try and call the 1800 number on the back of his Diamond card, he did and guess what, Ron and Lil were able to receive both their nights for free like they should have! That was kind of a rip, but it all worked out. Plus they said their room was great. Clean and a pillow top bed so they were happy.
The four of us met and headed over to the M. We had the two free buffet coupons and we were treating them to lunch and the free bottles of wine since they would use it. I'm not a wine drinker and Ron and Lil had both enjoyed the wine we were given before. Of course we get there around noon and wait in line for at least an hour. Normally, we would never have waited but since we all had some catching up to do (it had been over 6 months since we had seen one another) the time passed quickly and with good conversation. Lunch was good, we headed to play a little. Ron and Lil hung out at the buffet little longer(they are not much into gambling), harry and I proceeded to the casino. A little while later we meet up, we get the two bottles of wine and then find out harry and I both have enough points for the wine glasses/decanter. It was really nice, we get two sets. One for me and one for Lil.
Back for the afternoon nap. I was fighting only having a minimul amount of sleep from the night before plus we had a late show.
After meeting up with Ron and Lil @7ish, we all head up to the Palms to see Sante Fe and the Fat City Horns (thanks for the recommendation) We buy our tickets, $7 each and wander around the Palms. Ron, Lil and I play a bank of 9/6 ddb machines (this sure beats the Paris vp) and Lil starts off the session with 4 aces and then Ron hits 4 aces and then the lady in between us hits four aces! All in like 10 minutes. I was waiting patiently for mine but only ended up with 4 4's with a kicker and another set of 4ok. I'll take it, not trying to be greedy!
I believe the show started at 10:30. The band played for almost an hour and a half. But it was super entertaining. All four of us really enjoyed the music.
After the show, Harry did the $10 free play coupon and netted $60 on a penny machine. Headed back for the night and played some at Bally's. The vp was kind and was able to play on minimal funds for a couple of hours and drag myself to bed at 2am.
