Trip Itinerary November 2012

Not a trip report, but just a trip itinerary:

Trip Itinerary 7 Days Las Vegas Late Nov./Dec 2012
T-7 days and counting:

This trip will be seven days with my wife. Leaving 11/29/12, Thursday AM, from Boston through Cleveland on United getting to LAS about 2:30 PM. Renting a mid-size using Dollar Express and the “City Special” at $179 (including all charges). We’ll be checking into Green Valley Ranch (GVR) on a 4 night stay with 3 nights (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) comped of a 4 night reservation. Subsequent nights (M-T-W) still considering a 1 BR Suite at Elara Towers adjacent to Planet Hollywood but no exceptional deals have popped up yet, so I have GVR booked as back up at $58 per night (gambler’s rate) plus resort fees. I haven’t done any significant gambling at GVR lately so the three night weekend comp offer was a surprise. According to the booking agent the comp nights includes the resort fee.

Entertainment

This trip will be entertainment heavy: The first night we have tickets to see Terry Fator with my brother and his significant other (SO) who are also in town staying at Springhill Suites on Paradise. We have tickets to see Brad Garrett at his namesake club at MGM on Friday night (just my wife and me), and on Saturday night four front row tickets to see Three Dog Night at Eastside Cannery (with my brother and SO). My brother leaves Sunday AM and on Sunday night my wife and I have tickets to see Train and Better than Ezra at the Hard Rock. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday night are up in the air but Manheim Steamroller, Zarkana, Taylor Hicks, and the Glittering Lights exhibit at the Las Vegas Speedway are under consideration.

During the afternoons, will likely visit the Mob Attraction at the Tropicana (have ACG $10.00 per ticket discount coupon), the DaVinci Exhibit at the Venetian ($5 per person discount coupon), the Neon Museum, Pinball Museum, and Bellagio Conservatory and Fountain Show.

Gambling

Nearly all of my gambling is done solo between 6:00 AM and 1:00 PM. I have matchplays and freeplays (MPs and FPs) from ACG (2012 and 2013), LVA MRB, and other sources My most extensive coupon run will be near/on strip and include Hooters, Tropicana, Orleans, Palms, Gold Coast, Tuscany, Terribles, Hard Rock, Ellis Island, Riviera, and Circus Circus. Also, I might sneak in a Wincard deal at Mandalay Bay. I’ll also do a downtown MP/FP coupon run including Las Vegas Club, Plaza, and ElCo and play a little Pick’Em VP at The Fremont -- and probably check out the new “D”.

Besides coupon runs, I plan to spend time playing $0.25 x 10 coin FP Deuces Wild (FPDW) VP at the Rainbow Club Casino in Henderson, $0.25 FPDW and $0.50 to $1.00 Loose Deuces Wild VP at GVR and $0.25 FP Deuces Wild at the Palms. Also I’ve been practicing Aces & Eights VP so will likely play some at Circus Circus at the $0.50 level and $0.25 FP Pick’Em aka Pick-A-Pair VP at the Fremont.

Food

We will likely use a $25 restaurant.com certificate at Mr. Lucky’s, LVA MRB 2-for-1 buffet coupons at Mirage and GVR and possibly hit Maggiano’s ($10 off Website Member Anniversary Coupon), Bahama Breeze, Grand Lux, the Peppermill, Le Burger Brasserie, and Carve at E. Cannery ($50 restaurant.com certificate). But little is written in stone.

Trip home fortunately is a direct flight -- on Jet Blue.

Will send a trip report upon return.

This sounds like an excellent itinerary- have a great time and we look forward to your trip report.

Sounds like a good trip!

Also, maybe you shouldn't be surprised if maybe some places (but I don't know this for sure), might not accept the 2013 ACG Coupons until it is 2013 -- unless Steve Bourie has said otherwise.

I think that will be true in some cases. But it never hurts to try. When I get back, I'll post a trip report and let people know about my experiences with ACG 2013 coupons in early December of 2012. I supsect I'll have trouble on those that are tracked and are only valid one time a year. So for example at El Cortez if I had already used a 2012 ACG coupon for $10 in free slot play, they might make me wait until actual calendar 2013 to use the ACG 2013 coupon FSP (since this coupon is tracked on your player's card).

OTOH, MPs such as at the Palms or Orleans that are not recorded (unlike Goldcoast), I would expect the 2013 coupons to be honored in Dec of 2012 since they don't state on them an official start date, only an official end date. So they state they are valid until December 31, 2013. And December 2012 is definitely prior to December 31 2013.

I'll keep both ACG 2012 and 2013 member cards on me and show the applicable signed member card depending on the year of the coupon.

If it becomes an issue, I won't push it, I'll just use it next year.

I will be waiting for your report especially the Mob tour, my husband wants to see it.
I will also be interested to hear how the new Winter conservatory exhibit at the Bellagio is.. I can view it on line but it really is not as good as in person.
Hope the weather stays nice for you. Enjoy and have a great trip, I have also heard the Neon Musuem is good but the hours posted on line were confusing, something about reservations only.

I will be going out of Bradley later in the month, and will also send a trip report in. We are still thinking about the new buffet at Caesars but may wait to see if there really is a long wait.
I haven't stayed while the NRF is in town and I hear it is very crowded.

The Mob “thing” is becoming confusing for many because there are now actually three Mob "things” in Vegas.

I've been to the Mob Museum. It is located at 300 Stewart Ave. just north of Downtown Fremont St. It was exceptionally good and a discount coupon is available to LVA members online to the end of the year.

The place I am planning to go this trip is the Mob Attraction located within the Tropicana Hotel. ACG has a 2012 coupon that was actually for its predecessor at the Trop, the Mob Experience. It is now called the Mob Attraction. I emailed Steve B at ACG and he indicated that the 2012 ACG 2-for-1 coupon for the predecessor, Mob Experience, is technically/legally invalid since it is for a show that no longer exists. The marketing manager of the new Mob Attraction, however, Spence Johnston told Steve B he will honor the coupon, but not at 2-for-1, but at $10 off per person instead. You may have to mention Spence’s name to get the discount, however.

There is no coupon in the 2013 ACG for the current Mob Attraction at the Trop or for the Mob Museum (downtown).

If this isn’t confusing enough, there is another Mob related thing that has nothing to do with any of the above Mob things. It is called the Mob Tour.

The Mob Tour is a two and a half hour bus tour of the history of the Mob in Las Vegas. You visit sites where murders, disappearances and mob activity occurred. For the Mob Tour, a discount coupon exists in the 2013 ACG.

With regard to the Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars, I heard it was excellent, but expensive and very crowded when it first opened.

Apparently it is still crowded but mostly at prime dinner hours and more so on weekends. It could be that the novelty has worn off a bit and the further price increases since opening have cooled demand.
