Trip Report 3/13 - 3/17

Hi everyone I thought i would share some highlights that might be useful for others;

Stayed at the Platinum Hotel what a great place all rooms are 900+ square feet no fees and right behind Ballys. Highly recommended for anyone paid $99 a night if your not familiar with this place it was originally built as 1 & 2 BR condos and given the economy it is now a hotel all rooms have a full kitchen living room and BR some with 1.5 & 2 baths. The staff is top notch as well read the reviews on tripadvisor

Did some coupon runs
Tropicana- did the $200 promotion lost it quickly the VP is terrible there VPFree2 is wrong I checked every machine and found no 8-5 BP but still worth a trip for the promotion. I did do the Mob Experience and really enjoyed it especially the interaction check it out it is a lot of fun cost is $29.99 pp

Visited the Riviera for the for the slot coupon on the MR and what a dump. I will never go there again

Did the same for the Sahara used the 40-50 chips and a $25 match play from the American Casino Guide and walked out with 100 bucks profit. The funny thing here was they had 2 craps tables going but would only let you use half the table. Looked funny as you were directed to one side only.

Did the usual Freemont trip on night and they need some new competition with the Plaza closed, Binions a shell of what it once was and no Lady Luck it is lacking the choices it had in the hey day of DT. I hope the Lady Luck opens I miss that place.

The El Cortez is always fun and the Golden Gate is great as well.

Visited Alliante and it is a bit of a hike but a very nice place with low stakes friendly odds on all table games as well as VP. We made a mistake of hitting the Lucky Club on the way back trust me stay away.

Had dinner at Siam Lotus great great place thank you Anthony for introducing us to that place what a gem but warning when they say spicy they mean it!!

Before the flight we stopped at the Palace Station and I found one of the best VP machines ever it was a bank of 4-6 by the Louie Armstrong sign as you walk in and it has a sign that says 100%+ machine they offered 10-6 DDB & 10-7 DB for all denominations .05 to $1.00 on the same machine. I played those for .50 and walked away with an extra 150 for about 30 minutes of play.

Bye for now be happy to answer any questions

Thanks for the report, but sad to hear you say the Riv is a dump. Although I agree it's on its sad, last legs, I still love seeing the neon and I love the glittery lights of the underground valet. That's one place I wish someone would breathe new life into. I've had a few happy stays there.

I'm also sorry that the Riv is going dump...used to enjoy it MANY years ago.
Thanks for your report! Nice to end on a winning note, btw.
Thanks for the TR. I was at the Riv about 5 years ago with a group of ladies and some of them were scared of the clientele back then.

What has changed at Binion's?
Did you think the Riv looked worse than the Sahara?

Yes the Riv definately looked worse than the Sahara

Binions was just plain dead with the hotel rooms closed it ended the excitement as well.
We usually stay Downtown - definitely agree - they need to get something else going there. Lady Luck needs to reopen along with something in Plaza and hopefully Binions can get going. Downtown was always a lot of fun! Thanks for your report !
Thanks for the interesting and informative report!

Glad to read that your trip ended on a nice winning note!

As for Plaza, room remodeling is definitely in the works and they're supposedly re-opening the hotel at some point mid-year.

I did like Lady Luck too but I hope that it also comes back with at least some playable Video Poker.

We leave in 4 weeks, and I can't wait to visit downtown again. We used to stay and play at the Plaza years ago. Another good place to play bites the dust. Glad you visited Palace Station, which is where we spend most of our time since the Stardust and the Ho are gone. I hated the Riviera the last time we visited and have no plans to go back there ever again.

Thanks for the report.
