Trip Report April 17-24, Nice Trip, Fun, Unprofitable Gambling

Please excuse the errors on this posting & also on Vegas Fanatics, as Bobby BW is doing the entering of data as Martie MJ is suffering damage to her left shoulder, arm, & hand, This is our first trip of 2019 after 4 in 2018. We are Bobby 79 BW & Martie 63 MJ living in Smithville, Texas (18 months), flying out of Bergstrom IA, Austin, Texas. We have been to Vegas 50+ times & were married there Sept 29, 2001.

Transportation

We are using Super Shuttle Execucar again to & from Austin Airport. Pricey , Yep but starts trip off & ends trip in a very relaxed atmosphere, it is airport convenient & the drivers are effcent & courteous. Flew Southwest Airlines round trip for the price of $245 for 2, even adding early bird this is the best price we have seen in 10 years, side bar BW booked this weeks after last trip Dec 19,2019, ok BW you get an Atta Boy. Used Personal Sedan Inc from McCarren to D & return, PSI ok nothing special , may use Presedential in the future.

Lodging

The D, fully comped, 3rd floor room 301, ok but rooms are getting a little worn. Here I am complaining about free room, bad boy BW, you lose Atta Boy. All employees at D are nice & helpful. 

Food

As mentioned in prior TRs we are not Foodies, simple tastes, most meals were comped or bogo, only paid for 2 meal. At D, McDs, American Hot Dogs, Grill, at 4 Queens Magnolia and at El Cortex Seagals, all food was ok with the best being Magnolia.

Derek Sightings

Saw him almost every day at the Long Bar with his Gang, I did not attempt any communications , much to Mjs relief. Yep I do misbehave when overserved.

Miscellaneous

Visited Bugsys Bar at Flamingo to see a friend of over 20 years, Big Steve our friend & favorite Bartender, we have shared many hours with him at Bugsys & many meals with him, he is a special special person. He is retirmg after 30 plus years working in the same building,but is staying in the Vegas area so we visit with him on all of our Vegas trips. We love that man.

Gambling

I would rate the gambling this trip as poor we returned with about 50% of our gambling budget, hitting 0 Royals (over 3 years since last one), 14 4 of a kind, 2 Straight Flushes, 2 big slot hits. In 2018 for 3 trips our totals were 0 Royals ,71 4 of K, 6 St F, & 8 big slot hts. BW had 4 Crap sessions at D & 4Q with 2 winners 2 losers, even steven. Held dice for 25 minutes one session, wow that felt good, really enjoy craps but at my age & with my chicken legs 2 hours is limit. Will continue to play & learn game. Crap table employees at D & 4 Q are helpful & courteous, but few people tip, but by golly BW did every 6 or 8 roll. you get an Atta Boy BW. Our walk around on slots this trip was terrible, but will continue, you never know. We are not discouraged & will hang in there.

Las Vegas

We, me in particular love Las Vegas.Enjoy the planning, preparation & the Trip beginning when our butts hit the seats on the plane seats & increasing a bit when you see Vegas lights as you arrive at night, one more jolt as you proceed to pick up your luggage & reaching its zenith as you ride your limo dowtown. " God help me I love it

*Meet nice people , couple from Canada, Man from Minn., Couple from Laughlin, 3 Men from Omaha

*Coffee Bar at D elevators best bargain in Vegas, Super kids work there

Thanks for your trip report. I always figure if I come home with half my money I'm a winner as rooms and food all paid for as for you.  I agree with airfare, start watching as early as possible especially with SW as thats usually when the best rates are and you can always change or cancel.

Dang, Bobby, I am a jealous wreck with your great SW airfares.  Can't get anywhere from here for anything like that.  Ah, the cost of doing business...er, getting our Vegas high.  Just glad they have a non-stop both ways.  

I agree with Jokare.  Coming home with half the budget intact is a win in my book.  Of course coming home ahead is nicer, but how often does that happen?  Those royal flushes are so elusive these days.  I say you did good.  I'm amazed you can recall all the gambling details.  How fun!

So sorry that Martie suffers those pains.  Is this something new?  Sounds like she soldiers on in spite of it.  Growing old is so fun.  72 here, and counting.  Can't stop that clock.
