Trip Report Oct 7 - Oct 12

Airline - We used Southwest from Detroit. They started having direct flights and the price was good. No problems going or coming home. Couldn't get seats in front of wing like wife wanted, but at least window seats in back of plane. We even paid extra to get early boarding and we were high numbered.

Car - Have always rented from Dollar for past 10 years or so. Never had any major problem. We got a premium car, Crown Victoria. Big car, 35,000 miles on it, no satillite radio. Fun to drive around since we never have own a big car, but wife disappointed can't listen to 60's music.

Hotel - El Cortez as always. Had first two nights in tower room. Wife likes sitting on couch near window to read. Next three nights had suite with jacuzzi. Got that room for wifes birthday. She used that tub everyday, sometimes twice in a day. All nights were comped by Nords. He is great to work with and helps out with whatever I ask. Thank's Nords.

Food - After we got car, drove straight to Yougart Land. This is on Eastern Ave, just off 215. They have a great assortment of flavors and lots of different toppings that you help yourself's to. I usually always get coconut and get toppings to compliment it. We tried breakfast at Maple Tree Cafe, wife really enjoyed the Red Velvet Pancakes so went again during the week. Favorite breakfast is Cracked Egg. She loves the Macadamain/Coconut French Toast. At twice during the week. Disappointed for Main Street Station buffet. Went on Monday, choices were bad, fruit from can's. Maybe just bad timing.

Gambling - Pretty slow at first. Had free play to use. And went through it like we never had any free play. Best night of video poker, wife hit 4 aces/kicker for $500. Then on same machine for next 45 minutes she hit another 4 aces for $200 and 4 other 4oak's. She ended up with just over $1000 during that time. She brought our bankroll back up so that we came back home with what we took. I bet she will even let me take some of the credit for bring home the money. NOT!!

But had a great time as always. Next trip will be a solo trip for me in April. That's her Christmas present to me and also to herself. It get me away from her for awhile. But she says she loves me, most of the time. DJH
Nice report. I agree with you on MSS buffet.... it has gone way, way down in quality
Wow, aren't you a Lucky Dude. The old lady lets you go to Vegas alone. Mine wouldn't trust me alone for 5 minutes in Vegas with all that fine "eye candy" roaming around.
Good report. I also agree the Main Street Station buffet is not great. The eggs benedict were terrible in August when we were there.

good trip. but in future, there are at least two if not 3 oldies type stations you can get while there, just search that dial.
Yes, thanks for the report and good going on the nice playing hits and I know of (and have listened to) at least one oldies station with at least some 60's music in LV.

I know that at least one of the stations recently went to the AM dial and is somewhere around the 1000 area. I think it is or was KQOL.
