No blow by blow this time, just the highlights.
4/30 - 5/3
The Trop
We had a comped offer and we wanted to see Gladys Night so it seemed like the perfect place to stay. Check in was smooth and easy. Got a room on the 24th floor, in the main tower, with a strip view. Nothing crazy fancy just a freshly remodeled room, very clean and nice. Good job.
Gladys
If you think you might want to see her, book a ticket now! (I mean right now!!!) that show was so good. She did a ton of her hits and some new stuff. She is backed by a six piece band (a little too "smooth jazz" for me at times, but some pretty great players) and has five backup singers. Eventually her brother Bubba (an original Pip!) comes out and does some good comedy bits and a sings a pretty rockin mini set. At the end of the show she walks up to the edge of the stage and shakes hands with everyone who wants to. When she got to me I said "I love you! thank you so much" and she looked me dead in the eyes and said "I love you too sweetie and thank you so much for coming". I almost fainted.
We bought the general admission tickets ($155 for the pair after taxes and fees) and slipped the usher a $20. He moved us from the back to a table eight feet from the stage. Those tickets sell for $105 each (before taxes and fees!). One hell of a deal.

So we wanted to stay at the new fancy place and they had a deal for a wraparound suite for two nights, with a $100 food credit, for $700 with taxes. We booked it. I've read a lot about the problems they were having and I had high hopes we would miss all of them, but...
1) We check in an a very sweet woman helps us. I asked for a high floor and she said it would be a bit of a wait so I gave her my number and she said she would send me a text and call when the room was ready. Three hours later, nothing. So we go back and hit the front desk again and "Oh yes here are your keys". Ok, thanks (but why didn't anyone call/text ?)... Not that big of a deal, but kind of annoying.
2) Around 2 am the first night my sweetie (Cat) wanted to take a bath in that huge soaking tub (which was a big part of why we wanted that room) so I start running the water. I head back in after a bit and the water is yellow/green. Like you filled up the tub and poured in a six pack of mtn dew. Gross! So I drained it and the bottom of the tub was covered with a brown residuey slime. Extra Gross!
(Warning, this next one is really really gross)
3) So Cat was sitting on the couch and I was goofing around trying to put the nasty tub in our $350 a night room out of our minds and I grab the blanket (they give you to use on the balcony) and I throw it over her. She starts laughing and I'm goofing around a little more and I grab the blanket off of her and I'm ready to throw it back on her when she screams. I mean horror movie scream. Very loud and piercing. It scared me so much I dropped the blanket and ran over saying "whats wrong?!!". She said "What is on that fucking blanket?" and I said "I have no idea" so I check it out. It's a huge semen stain. Mega Uber Super Gross!
4) The next morning I call the number on the bedside card that says "If you have any problems, call this number". After 15 to 20 rings (and no answer) I hung up and called the front desk. I told the woman what had happened and she was very sympathetic and said a supervisor would call back in 10 to 15. An hour later I called back and after a bit I spoke to the supervisor who was very sympathetic and she said she would send someone right up. 15 minutes a woman knocks on the door and says "You requested a manager?" I show her the "problem" and she said she would take care of them right away. We got back from a short downtown trip and the blanket was gone but never replaced, and we are assuming they cleaned the tub because the brown sludge was gone. But neither one of us were going in that tub, ever!
5) So no contacted us about this stuff and apologized. Not a word/peep/text/smoke signal. Nothing... pitiful.
6) When we checked out there were some mini bar charges for stuff we never used, they took them off right away, but at this point I was so tired of this very expensive half-assed crap it ruined all the positives.
Cosmo "positives"
Cool room with a great balcony. We were on the 69th floor (five from the top) in the east tower. I used the washer an drier in our room, that was cool. The Bond bar had one of the best looking bartenders I have ever seen! An absolutely stunning woman who made me free mohitos and mint juleps and smiled at me and was incredibly sweet and kind.
Unfortunately (for them) they are going to have to kiss some serious ass to get us back.
Absinthe
Wow! Forget Cirque, this is THE circus show to see. Some seriously amazing people doing impossible things. It is not an all ages show it has lots of good old fashioned swearing and many, many, sex jokes. Well worth the price of admission. Oh, the skaters will scare the shit out of you!
Smoothini (SP?)
He does slight of hand/bar magic most nights at the Hawaiian Marketplace (by the polo towers) and he is great! Check him out for a late night diversion.
Gambling
I went home down a little, but I played like a mad man, so I'm happy with the outcome.
My two best sessions
1) Craps at the Trop. They have a great dice crew here, I was at the table for two shifts and all of the dealers were great to play with (I'm sure the constant tipping didn't hurt!). I bought in for $100 and after three hours I cashed in with $768!!!! Big win.
2) On a 50 play at planet hollywood I was playing the 2 cent version of DDB and I was dealt 4 Aces with no kicker. 17 of the 50 filled in and the rest stayed 4 aces. Nice hit.
I'll be back in Vegas June 26-27 with the Hickoids (playing at the Double Down Saloon on the 26th)
Thanks for reading!
