Valentine's Weekend in Las Vegas

We flew Southwest out of Denver to Vegas, and had a Thursday 8:20 pm flight, early in the day we were notified of a flight delayed and ended up departing at 10:50 pm for a much later flight than we wanted. I slept for the entire flight, grabbed our Hertz rental, and arrived at M Resort at 1:30 am, quick check-in and we headed to our room and went to bed.

Our offer at the M was 3 free nights, but we had to pay the $40 daily resort fee, and we had a $25 daily food comp, both of us had $20 free play per day, and $25 casino cash per day after earning 400 tier points ($4,000 coin-in on VP). Plus you earn free slot play separately from the casino cash at M so on our final morning I had $37 free play to use up before we left.

The next morning, I was up early before my wife, as usual, and headed down to Baby Cakes bakery for an Americano and to play some video poker. The casino has 99.73% NSUD, as well as full pay JoB, Bonus Deluxe, Bonus, and ACE$ Bonus poker, my best game is Bonus Poker so I like the ACE$ Bonus that I can play quickly with a slightly higher payback, but I played all of them all during our trip.

The wife joined me for a bit and then we decided we wanted a Hawaiian breakfast, so we headed to Peg’s Glorified Ham and Eggs, I ordered the Hawaiian breakfast, and knowing how large the portions were, my wife ordered the two-egg breakfast. I gave her half my Portuguese Sausage, Spam, rice, and macaroni salad, and she gave me half her hash browns, and it was delicious.

Headed back to the M to play Blackjack and VP. The Blackjack at the M is $15 double deck, 3:2, face down, the dealer hits soft 17, double on any two cards, split up to four times, double after a split and split Aces once. All of the dealers and floor people were friendly as well as most of the players we played with. They have 2 of the $15 tables and I was surprised to see they were available on both Friday and Saturday nights.

Later that day, we went by the Durango and Palms, nothing good to play so we headed to the Plaza downtown, thanks to Mark’s heads up on the myVegas game, we had comps and free play to use.

At the Plaza we each had $15 bounce back free play from our December visit, $25 free play each from myVegas, and the $10 free play coupon from LVA. We sat down at the main bar and played 8/5 Bonus poker and had a couple of beers. We used the myVegas Taco Grande comp for lunch, heads up on the comp, the app showed a picture of 3 tacos, the normal order is 2 tacos, and the comp was for 1 taco, less than we thought but it was enough to get us to dinner. We used some LVA free play coupons on Fremont and finished up at the Sand Dollar for Bonus video poker, a myVegas cocktail comp and I had another comp cocktail while playing.

We then headed to the Arts District for dinner at Taverna Costera to use the LVA 20% off coupon, we had the Lollipop chicken and both of us ordered the Dragon Noodles with Shrimp, all of it was very good.

Headed back to the M for Blackjack and VP, I pretty much lost for most of the trip on VP but kept winning at Blackjack and cashed out for a $200 win the first night after a few hours of play.  My wife did well at Blackjack and stayed pretty even on VP during the trip. I ended up down for the day.

I’ll post our next two days later, they’re filled with fun promos and maybe a nice jackpot!

Nice report so far.  How are the rooms at the M?  That's one place I have not stayed but I enjoy playing there.

Nice report, looks like you took advantage of some good coupons.  Hope you hit the jackpot!

Appreciate the Trip Report!

So nice that you had the CO play to pay for your LV trip.  Take care.

The rooms are nice, but the cabinets are a bit outdated, they have a separate tub and shower and you can soak in the tub and enjoy the view out your floor-to-ceiling windows. The shower is big rainshower set-up. I think the beds are really comfortable with quality sheets and comforters.

Saturday turned out to be a day of successful promos! We had breakfast at M and played for a while before heading over to Emerald Island. We like the multi-game VP machines at both Emerald and Rainbow. My wife used the LVA free spin coupon for a $15 win. We went over to Rainbow to play some more, and I used the LVA spin coupon and won $50, which covered my losses from both Emerald and Rainbow video poker play.

After a few hours, we went back to M to play before we decided to try Sporting Life Bar for the play $20 and get a free entrée coupon from LVA for dinner. My wife asked the bartender if the Fish and Chips were made in-house and he let us know that they make a lot of the food from scratch including the fish. He also said they use whole chicken wings that they brine for 12 hours, so I ordered the wings with a salad and my wife ordered the fish. We put in $20 to play DDB and hit a 4-of-a-kind on quarters, we showed the bartender the win, more than doubling up our $20 to qualify for the free entrée. Both the fish and chicken wings were very good, we played Pick’em poker while we ate and left with full bellies and a small win.

Went back to the M for more play and some promos they were running that night, they had a slot tournament that we had earned a couple of entries for with our play, and two drawings for our slot play and table game play. My wife ended up in first place in the slot tournament after her play, by the time it ended she was in twelfth place, winning $300 in free play. We went over to a Bonus ACE$ machine and ran it through, hitting a 4-of-a-kind and cashing out with $425 to add to her bankroll. We spent the rest of the evening bouncing between VP, BJ with a short session of 3 Card Poker, while playing BJ a gentleman approached us and let us know we had won the Hot Seat promo, and both of us had won two free $25 bets. I lost both of mine and my wife won one of hers.

Sunday morning, I was up before my wife and went down to Baby Cakes for an Americano and cinnamon roll before playing VP.  My wife made it down from the room, grabbed her coffee and pastry, and joined me to play, shortly after I filled a 4-to-the-Royal for a $2,000 jackpot, booking a win for me for the trip! My wife ended up down a few hundred for the trip.

We played for a bit longer, my hot streak at blackjack ended, and we went to Nacho Daddy for lunch before heading to the airport. We shared the Steak Fajita nachos, they were really good, not fine dining but super tasty. We had an uneventful trip home and are looking forward to our next trip.

Nice hit before heading home, Max!  Congrats!

Max, I'm not a big fan of trip reports but your's was well written and an easy read. Thanks.

Awesome hit on the Royal!  What game were you playing and I'm guessing at .50?

Does Nacho Daddy still do their scorpion in a tequila shot?  Kind of a ruination of good juice but fun for laughs with the guys.
