      Happy Holidays All

Hi Patricia,

It's a good hour from Vegas. Go north from Vegas on I-15 until you hit exit 75, which should be marked as the exit for VoF and possibly Overton as well. Go east about 20 miles.

Return the same way you came. Oh, and don't go there in June.

good safety rules for visiting Valley of Fire.

- Cell service is non-existant in some parts there so if your car breaks down make sure you are prepared

- tell someone when you expect to be back...and have them follow up with authorities  if they dont hear from you by X o'clock

- bring an emergency kit of bottled water and non-perishable food

.

Thanks for information Will follow advice

It's a great day trip, very beautiful. I recommend the loop, go up the 15 to enter then head south.

You exit at Lake Las Vegas. Lot's of picnic spots along the way. Last time me did it we saw wild horses.

Very cool!

This is the time to go out there. In a couple of months, it'll be WAY too hot to do any hiking or otherwise enjoy the place.

That said, my choice for a beautiful place to visit, hike, take pics, etc. would be the much closer Red Rock Canyon. That scenic drive through the state park is gorgeous.

And of course, visiting Vegas for the scenery is kind of like visiting Cleveland for the wineries, but sometimes you just gotta get away from the slots. Good news is, the weather is perfect to actually be outdoors now. You don't want to try that in summer, what with all the sidewalks melting and birds bursting into flame in midair.

I stay for A week. This year 9 days. I usually take a day trip to see what else is of interest. Thanks All for information.

went to Red Rock last year.
