This report originally was going to be titled “L & L Take Las Vegas.” Instead Vegas took us. How did Vegas take us? I'm so glad you asked. Grab a cup of your favorite beverage . . .
Most every machine was tighter than tight. How tight? Don’t ask. I lost. I lost more on my first day in town playing at GVR and Sunset Station than anywhere else. I played optimal pay, short pay, full pay, in between pay, slots at max coin and slots at minimum coin. You name it, I lost. My best win in proportion to my bet on my first day in town was on an old penny Super Happy Fortune Cat machine. I got the bonus on a 15cent bet and hit for $7.50. My partner in crime also lost. Evil, evil machines.
Stayed at Sunset Station Saturday night and was given a larger room. It was tucked into a corner, quiet, and the beds were comfy. Other people have reported success playing at SS. Not me. The loosing continued, drink service was virtually non-existent. To put things into perspective, it’s a Sat. night in Vegas and I’m in the room before 11 pm. I take a hot bath and relax before going to bed. I tried starting over once I got to Sunset Station. Taking a hot shower and wearing clean clothes. Didn’t help.
For whatever reason, I woke up around 6 am every day. Sunday morning early, I decide to get some exercise and walk around the property. I have $20 on me and try some hit and run slot play as I work my way back to the room. I leave $15 in the casino. Back in the room, I shower and dress and stay in the room until it is time to leave. I’m in Vegas. What am I doing? The TV is on and I am listening to Disney kids or Kid Disney or something like that talk about how many Goofy feet equal 3 feet and am staging my killer shoes for a photo shoot. Sad, I know.

It’s a new day and I want to get my drink on. However, I need to wait until I get to the Strip because I am driving. Today, the gaming needs to be better. NOT! Lost less because I played less . . . novel concept. However, today is one of the most fun days I’ve had in Vegas.
First stop after leaving SS is the BofA drive thru for me and the Wells Fargo drive thru for Linda. Next stop is the Coach outlet at Warm Springs and Las Vegas Blvd. On Sat., I renamed the GPS in my car the beatch because the beatch tried taking us in the wrong direction. This may have been because I selected the incorrect “Sunset Rd.” but I digress. Beatch was more cooperative on Sunday.
The way to get waited on at Coach is to be over dressed and carry an expensive handbag. All the customers were given a coupon for 30% off. There were a group of bags in the back that were 40% off. With all the discounts, these bags were more expensive than the regular price ones with only 30% off. I found a black fabric tote, at the front of the store that was a special buy less 30%.
Off to Caesars, my home for the next 2 nights. I drop Linda off by the Augustus tower on Flamingo and leave my bags with the bellman. I plan to drive to the front and valet park. I miss the turn to drive behind the buildings and am on Flamingo. I end up taking the scenic route; go the F out of my way, and am finally back at Caesars. I know how to get to Valet parking. However, the signs that say” hotel” take one into the garage by the Forum shop valet or the coliseum valet. I give up, self-park, and send a text to myself telling me where I parked. Good thing I left my luggage with the bellman. It’s a hike from the “garage casino” to Diamond check in.
My room is on one of the lower floors with a south strip view. I’m happy to be in the Augustus Tower because my confirmation said Forum and I wanted a room with a jetted tub. Score! I have just enough time to watch the first fountain show before meeting my friends for brunch. I contemplate jaywalking across the street because the pedestrian bridge between Bellagio and Bally’s is closed. Instead, I walk south, cross at the light, walk back up to Paris, then walk inside over to Bally’s. I arrive first and enjoy my first glass of bubbly while waiting for my friends. I let them know we’re celebrating my birthday. Celebrate we did. I had more than my fair share of Perrier Jouet champagne. Actually, 3 of us had more than our fair share of bubbly. Sterling brunch is one of my favorite meals in Vegas. Toward the end of the meal, the servers came behind me, started singing and scared the crap out of me. Brunch was paid for with points and I thank Ak-Chin for all the bonus reward credits.
Although I’m wearing my killer shoes, cute outfit and look hot, the gambling still sucked. What does any good student of “the House of Loveman do?” Text her friends and arrange to meet for drinks at Caesars DL. They always take good care of me there and Sunday was no exception. I tried having drinks with bubbly in them. I guess I was on bubbly overload because I couldn’t finish them. They offered us shots. Not sure what was in them, but they tasted good and were smooth. Good times.
MGM gave me $20 in fsp for my birthday. After the DL, I was on a mission to redeem it. I got as far as Bellagio and played for a bit. I lost. However, I hit for $100 on the Fireball bonus. I had one of the bonus games that were 5 columns. I had 4 jackpot symbols and needed a 9 to win the big bucks. Instead, I got $100. Played at PHo and Ballys before finding my way back to Caesars and was asleep by 1:30 am. I lost more at PHo than anywhere else that night.
Again, I’m awake extra early. Physically, I feel fine. I don’t feel hung-over, however, I feel very overly emotional. I probably should have had a cocktail for breakfast, but instead, had coffee and a white omelet. I spent the majority of the day at Qua and the salon enjoying the facilities, had a massage and spa pedicure. The lady who did my nails, Jennifer looked familiar. She may have done my nails the very first time I had them done at CP. Anyhow, we’re talking, I’m still emotional. She has just what the doctor ordered, a glass of bubbly. We continue to chit chat and I find out she was in an episode of Holly’s World. It’s the one where Holly treats a young girl to a makeover then the girl joins Holly at a red carpet event.
I asked if the show was scripted or do they film things as they happen. I was told the producers suggest one say things a certain way so there is scripting to these shows. Jennifer is a sweetie. I can wholeheartedly recommend her or Kimberly at Caesars salon.
Afterward, I go back to PHo because I couldn’t find a working TITO machine the night before. I played some more, lost then went their DL. It’s located on the 2nd floor. As you’re aware, there’s lots of unused space upstairs at PHo. There was some type of trade show for people in the food and beverage industry. The speaker was a man with a very monotone voice. As I’m walking into the DL, I hear him say, and I quote, “people eat when they drink beer.” I looked at the hostess. She looked at me. We both laugh. I then said, when I drink whatever, I eat.
Later that night, I walked to MGM. It took 2 tries for them to properly load my fsp onto my card. According to MLife, I also had $20 in fsp at Luxor. However, before arriving in Vegas, I looked online and didn’t see the offer. Since it was a hassle getting it loaded properly at MGM, I didn’t feel like repeating the process at Luxor. Anyhow, I played a bit and cashed out even at MGM.
As I left MGM, some lady yelled across at me and asked me if I would take their picture. I said no and continued to walk. She said “Hughhh.” I kept walking. Where is it written that one is obligated to take photos of strangers?
I continue to walk back to Caesars. I overhear a conversation behind me. In their high squeaky voices, this girl says “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.” Her friend very loudly says, and I quote, “but he may have the HERPS!!!” She repeats this. I laugh out loud. They eventually get in front of me and they are holding each other up as they walk.
Earlier, while in MGM, a girl is hanging with a group of guys. It sounds like she is trying to get one of them to call someone. She then says, “I’m a lipstick lesbian.”
Back at Caesars, I go to the room for a bit. It’s around 11:15 pm. I then go to the casino. I win around $20 on a Betty Boop bonus round and finally get a good bonus on this other penny machine that has a major and minor progressive. I hit the minor for $42 and change and cash out over $100. Happy days are here again. The only place I lost on Monday was PHo. Monday was my best gaming day of the trip as I only lost $50.
Again, Tuesday morning, I awake around 6 am. I up and ready to go. I visit the conservatory at Bellagio and take photos. I notice a long line of people waiting to be seated in the Bellagio café and the café is packed. I also see people playing. Usually, Bellagio is empty early in the morning. For whatever reason, the strip was real busy, busier than usual at the end of June. Perhaps, it was due to the people in town for the daisy whatever festival at the speedway. Although I doubt the people I saw dressed in business attire at B were at the daisy whatever festival at the speedway.
We stop at M for brunch before leaving town and time it just right. There is no line. Score! I felt like I won $100. Actually, I cashed out up $1.30. I was up more then played a triple play spin poker machine in nickels. M now gives weekly coupons for its swag. Today was a lucky dog, a stuffed animal that sings.
As we drove past GVR and the direction of Sunset Station, I waved bye bye to my money. The drive to Harrahs Laughlin was uneventful. Although we were booked on a reel rewards offer, the lady at registration coded us so we could also get the coleman soft side coolers. One is a double cooler with a shoulder strap, the other is on wheels. Nice swag. I like hanging out with the older crowd at Harrahs Laughlin and always make new friends.
Wednesday morning, I awoke around 6. I fired up the laptop and spent 4 or 5 hours getting caught up on work stuff – the joys of being self-employed. I went to the pool and think I was the youngest person there. I swim laps and get some exercise. I also played this bean bag toss game. Laughlin’s pool is nothing special. However, they have an adult’s only pool and it’s quiet. Lots of canopies so one doesn’t need to lie in direct sunlight. I live in the desert and try to stay out of the sun. I don’t want to become the lil’ ole lady with brown over tanned leather like skin sunbathing while wearing purple metallic eye shadow.
Our last day in town was the only day I say people hit stuff. Linda got aces with a kicker in nickels at the Golden Nugget Laughlin and I saw a lady get a 4-of a kind in dollars. At Harrahs, I saw someone who was dealt aces on triple play stp and got the kicker on one line.
Although, the gaming was pathetic, this was one fun Vegas Holiday.
My souvenir from Sunset Station.
