Made a quick trip to Vegas to accept an award for a project I worked on.
3/7/17:
Up at 3:00am for the 2 1/2 ride to Burlington, VT to meet the rest of my team. Our group included the company president, project executive, three project managers, senior superintendent and senior estimator. We were all very active on the project so this was a nice reward.

Our ride to Vegas. Plane left Burlington at 7:00am and made stops in Madison, WI and Englewood, CO to refuel. Arrived in Vegas at about 11:45. Taxi from airport to Bellagio. Check in was fine and had a nice room on the 20th floor facing the pool. A nice day in Vegas and there were quite a few folks at the pool.
After unpacking I was on the floor playing for a while. I had signed up for an Mlife credit card so upgraded my players card to Pearl level. Played for an hour so with no hits and back to the room to dress for the photos.
There were 25 groups being honored so the photos it took a while. To ease the pain of missing out on gambling time they at least had an open bar. Photo session complete and it was off with the coat and tie and back to gambling. Played for a little while with a few of the guys then attended a first time attendees happy hour. A couple drinks and the lure of the machines was too much to take. The group wanted to stay at Bellagio so I headed out on my planned adventure.
Grabbed supplies from the room and grabbed supplies then a cab to El Cortez. Was going to use Uber but the rates were crazy at 6:15pm. Arrived at ElCo and played for a while and redeemed by monthly $25 free play. Only one good hit but earned 1,800 points.

After ElCo headed to The D to redeem my free play, food voucher and match plays. No hits big enough to take pictures but did play enough to earn 365 points with a profit of $115.
Was not ready to head back so grabbed a cab to The Palms. I have always enjoyed the Palms and usually try to play there every trip. The last few trips however have not gone well so this may be my last for a while. Was able to hit a couple good hands but ended up losing $450 while earning only 5,800 points.

Cab back to Bellagio and in bed around 2:00am. Made it 26 hours without sleeping.
3/8/17
Up at 6:45am to get ready for the day. Met the group at the morning breakfast reception and had coffee, juice, fruit and a muffin. The luncheon ceremony was not scheduled to start till 11:00am so that means more time to gamble. Headed to the floor around 8:30am and was losing steadily until this little beauty.

I was shocked since the previous hour had been nothing but losing. 15 minutes for the hand pay and I was back in very positive territory.
Luncheon went by quickly with a very good key note speaker. Food was not that great, I would have expected better from Bellagio but it was free. After the luncheon was over we were scheduled to go straight to the airport and head home. Unfortunately our company president had a medical issue and had to go the hospital before the luncheon started. We were in a holding pattern awaiting word on his condition. I was not wishing anything bad for him but was secretly hoping for another night in Vegas. Played some more at Bellagio and managed to hit a few good quads before getting word at 3:00pm that it was time to gather and head to the airport.

Goodbye Bellagio, will see you again in July. At the airport we had to wait around for about an hour for the pres to arrive but it was relaxing to sit around and talk as a group. We finally left Vegas around 5:00pm. Quick stop in Lincoln, NE for fuel and arrived in Burlington at 1:45am. Made the 2 1/2 drive home through a couple heavy snow pockets and was in bed by 4:15am.
Overall a fun little trip but way too short. It was nice to be in Vegas with a few first timers. Most were not gamblers but we may have a few converts. I said the next time we would have to spend a little more time on the ground in Vegas.
