Vegas in January

All the talk of great food...whew...makes me hungry! I'll have to try this spagetti and meatballs, can't imagine what you can do to this dish to make it so wonderful...must be some great sauce.

Agree with the Cosmo. Have no clue what you need to play to get room offers. I played there a bit hoping for something like when Wynn opened and offered just about anybody who played anything a couple of free nights to check it out...my fingers are crossed.

Great report!
Good TR.............TB......................Yes, you are correct. I'm sure 'Cat will fill in the spaces! lol

You guys did ALLOTTA walkin! Guess its a good think I was only there a couple days.
What a whirlwind, huh?

And then to have to Evacuate Ballys? So it WAS the N. Tower?

I read several stories, and only thing I gathered it was NEAR the strip, so figured it was S. tower!

Had a similar thing happen at work one time in S.F. working near the Giants new stadium,
and having the fire alarm blaring..........I'm going down the back steps, and the Firemen are
coming Up the stairs. It was kinda scary!

Another time, MADE to leave the building even though we Told them the guy in our office
burned Toast & thats what set off the alarm...........they made us leave anyway..........lol

Anyway, I got off the track..............Glad you had a good time with ALL THAT, and CONGRATS
again on the magnificent DEALT ROYAL. (you just had to show me up didn't you!)

Lets go back jack.............do it again!...............GOOD TIMES!!!
You Converted AND were Dealt!!! Just awesome. Sounds like a wonderful trip. All the food sounds yummy too. I'm going to have to favorite this for reference. Congrats and thanks for writing.
Congrats on the dream hand of a dealt 10 play royal!

Nice report

Next morning, after a short walk with N’cat, I played while N’cat changed.
Good News: I hit another Royal
Bad News: It was a 1 cent machine
Good News: It was a Ten-Play & it was dealt.
Bad News: I get my dealt royal not on the progressive machines at Orleans that I’ve been playing for years that have a nice (around $2,000) jackpot for dealt royals.
Good News: this machine has a dealt progressive: a little under $1,900.

okay, lets talk.

did you know it was a progressive win before you hit it? like did you sit there thinking you won $400 and then were suddenly shocked to see "call attendant. handpay $1900"?

congratulations!

..these machines at Sunset take 10 coins per hand so the pay is different- doubled.

I know Bum knew it's progressive- I got one for $197.00 last year - got paid 8,000 coins for A/A/A/A/3 on triple double VP.
but according to him- he only saw many high cards first (His machine locked up) It's like he didn't see it right away because he isn't used to winning- the he noticed they were "all the same suit" - then "Hey, they are all royals.. wonder what the progressive is up to?"

It's penny and 2 pennies you can play-- the 2 cent progressive was up to 6,344.00

He was flabbergasted for some time and he's not used to ever being flabbergasted. Mr. Spocks don't get flabbergasted.
Lords of the Round Cheese don't get flabbergasted too often
The old saying “better safe than sorry” isn’t an old wise saying for nothing. I’m glad I evacuated. If the fire had gotten out of control…..

I have also been in buildings that would have the alarm go off several times a day before they finally got the electronics fixed. A little different case.

Cosmo definitely is getting a lot of attention. They have the real chance to be a hit. Pieces have to fall right, and they have to continue to be smart.

Judy, July will not come too soon!

Sue, all my walking (I do more at home than I do in Vegas) made the 22 flights down very easy. Now, 22 flights going up… different story.

As for compensation for the fire… I checked out by TV, so the issue wasn’t raised. If I checked out in person, I would have joked about did I have to pay extra for the new fitness plan: going down 22 flights of stairs. My view: Bally’s did everything right and nothing wrong. Some idiot started the fire, not Bally’s. Bally’s did make sure I was safe. They deserve my thanks for that. They don’t owe me a thing. I’m glad you sent the complementary letter.

The spaghetti and meatballs: what made it so good is that the sauce did not taste like seasoned tomato sauce. It was more complex. And there was a richness to it. The pasta was cooked perfectly and fresh. Awesome. Gaetano’s: great meal.

As for the hand that needed no conversion: I’m looking at the screen and I know my subconscious knew something good was dealt because I was excited right away. What I remember thinking immediately is “All diamonds and lots of high cards”. Then I see the machine has locked up, and I start putting it together. I knew it was a progressive, but I had no idea how much the dealt progressive was. I’m glad it was so close to the normal progressive machine I play.

I had conceded the idea that I would finally get dealt a Royal on a single play machine with no progressive, because I started playing more single line joker. To get it dealt on a machine with a nice progressive…. very lucky.

By the way, at Orleans, as I mentioned, I play a nickel triple play progressive. They also have a quarter progressive. The dealt payoff had risen to $50,000. I went back on Sunday and it was down to $5,500. Someone got a nice hit.

I roughly estimated that my chances of getting a dealt royal in a year is 1 out of 20. I figured I had a 50/50 shot at getting one in my life time. I’m now going for two!

Another way to look at it. You should get about 16 or so converted royals for every one that’s dealt. I’m not even close to having 16 royals in my life.

I was a bit excited. Flabergasted. I called N’cat thinking she was up in her room and I wanted her to see it. She was only 100 feet from me.

And yes, my wallet was so stuffed with 100’s that it wouldn’t close. So I had this big bulge in my pants pocket (insert your own joke here).
sorry forgot to type. we had 10 people setting in the sportsbook on that sunday and did not hear or know anything about the fire. i tried to got to my room and then the elevators where blocked off due to the fire. we finally got some news about the fire by watching tv in the sportsbook. it was business as usual in the casino also.
