vegas trip 6/7 - 6/14

It's been years since I've done a TR and this won't be a proper one as I didn't take any notes. More tidbits/thoughts/etc

Travel-
US Airways out, Southwest back. Opted for early bird check in upgrade on SW that got me exit row seats on both legs. Easy flights, no hassles. Cab- no tunnel, no complaint. The airport cab line was a complete walk through- never ever came to a stop.

Hotel-
Had 5 nights comped at Paris. Was able to check in at 10:30 am without a hassle and without asking was upgraded to a P room. Room was nice- had a fridge which I forgot to ever use. Partial strip view.

Shows-
MyVegas free shows with Zarkana and Zumanity. Enjoyed both. First time seeing Zarkana and 3rd seeing Zumanity. Noticeable number of open seats at Zumanity. No hassles redeeming the myvegas rewards.

Restaurants-
Burger Brassierie (yeah that's spelled wrong) at Paris- sat at the bar. Piss poor service. As a solo diner I was ignored for 10 minutes and was within seconds of getting up. The menu online is not the one they are currently serving. They've gone to a la carte like other burger places. Got an alcoholic shake and an over-priced burger.

Gordon Ramsay Burgr- solo at the bar again but quick, attentive service. Farm burger, truffle fries, and sierra nevada on tap. Expensive but worth it. The truffle aioli was to die for.

KGB at Harrahs- Cool thing here is that burgers come with fries with no second charge. Solid burger and fries for $14. Milkshakes are large (but non-alcoholic).

Yardhouse- 146 beers on tap. Droooooooooool. Sampled 3 different beers and had the Hawaiian burger. Licked the plate clean. Loved this place and the service. Ate inside as it was 106plus and the patio just seemed way too hot.

Paris Buffet- nice to use the special entrance as a platinum guy. Eh. It was fine. Nice touch for the server to ask if I wanted an omelet without standing in line. The bread here is the standout for me as the rest was middle of the road.

Tropical Breeze Cafe at Flamingo- good service at the bar with tasty and affordable breakfast fare.

Everything else was food court or me forgetting to eat. I made up the calories with beer.

Gambling-
mostly 2/4 limit poker at the Flamingo. Longest day was 17 hours. That wasn't smart. Lost, lost, and lost some more. Only two winning sessions the entire trip. Regardless I find it relaxing and love BSing with the dealers and other players.

Slots- I won at all 3 MGM properties I played at and lost at every Caesars property. Hmmm. Nothing too major one way or the the other.

General thoughts-
Seem to be less porn slappers out these days but they are made up for by the water salesmen, homeless, and photo tip people. The Linq looks great. The Cromwell looked great but seemed perpetually empty.

Thanks, PackBacker for reporting. I almost ended up coming to LV this past week (from 6/8-6/11) but in the end it just didn't work out but I ended up happy not going because other good stuff happened. I thought that it was going to be cooler than it ended up being and so that was another kind of good thing (although I might end up going in July or August which I know will definitely be hot)!

Great report. Thanks for writing!
Thanks for posting - nice report. Do I sense a fondness for burgers ....

Great food reviews, very helpful. Sounds like Yardhouse is a play for something new.

Thanks for reporting.

Nice report - think I'm going to have to check out the Yardhouse!
