vegas trip # 7 Nov 30 to Dec 5th

Our 7th trip to Las Vegas had a great flight from alliagent for 340 for both of us round trip, and we got a nice rental car from fox for 107 for the week.I had a slightly better deal from advantage but since I had recently had rotator cuff surgury fox offered a 2nd driver free.  We checked in for one night comped at the Luxor with 50 food comp and 15 freeplay, but had to pay the resort fee.  Still not bad for coming in on a sat night.  We had not stayed here since we were married in 2007. Parking sucked and registration was a long walk.  Room wasn't bad and the casino was okay early.  We ate at Diablos and it wasn't close to as good as when it was in front of the Monte Carlo.  We headed to Resorts World to meet up with familywho were staying at the Wynn.  The Resorts World was a great place to meet, nott very smokeyand not too load and easy to get drinks while we played at the bars. We ate at Kusa Nori for dinner and it was just okay.  It is much better for happy hour. Still it was nice to have food credit and free playWe headed back to Luxor for the night intending to play for awhile but found it to be a total dump that night.  UNLV played Nevada at Alliagent and the parking lot was packed and pot was everywhere. The restrooms where trashed etc so we turned in for the night.

We checked out of Luxor and headed back to Resorts World to use some food credit for breakfast and drink a few mamosa while playing our free play.  Next we hopped over to Gold coast and Palms for a little free play session befor heading to the Rainbow Club to use our 2 free dinner coupons at the cafe. After playing a bit we headed to Green Valley ranch to check in for our 2 comped nights with free play and food credit.  We love Green Valley and had some nice hits to get us up a few hundy for the trip.  Then we saw Vegas Matt walk in to the high limit room as we are playing in the bar  It may or may not of been my drunk wife screaming in the background as they hit for about 16,000 on the train slot.. Pretty fun.

Monday we got around and made some bets and got some way tickets for keno and headed back to emerad island for breakfast using our Lva 2 for 1 coupon . Played a little there before going to the Rainbow club to play at the bar.  We just like it so mach better than Emerald Island.  Friendlier and less smoke.  i won a wheel spin hot seat for 50 bucks and we both earned enough for the free gift giveaway.  We then headed to Sunset station where we gave back some winnings  but had a good time.  We had a late lunch at In an out butger and headed back to Green Valley to play for the rest of the night.  We had a few more nice hits and had the late happy hour at the new Mediteran place. Very good and very fun.  The Bachlava was outstanding..

Tuesday we checked out and headed to Randys Dounuts on Rainbow for breakfast.  Always good,  Then headed to suncoat to play 10 x multipier day before checking in for 2 comped nights.  Pretty uneventful as we just kind of dinked around with low denoms.  After checking in we went to Del taco for lunch and then Red rocks for a little live keno and  change of scenery.   This is when our trip turned interesting as I started to have spasms in my chest and had a hard time breathing.  We went to the ER in Sumerlin where things subsided, but after a bunch of tests they admited me with a blood clot in my lung.  Pretty rare for a rotator cuff surgery but was happy they caught it..Lots of stress for my wife as we were supposed to fly home on thursday, and  we had no idea when I was getting out of the hospital.  Sun coast stepped up and comped us a few more nights which was a big relief and we just rolled the dice on the rest.    Thankfully I was dismissed wed night and was able to get a blood thinner script before we flew out thurs .  In true gambler fashon we played for a little bit wed night and thur. morning befote heading to walgreens and the airport for a safe flight home.

We were about even on the gambling, but the hospital is probably going to set me back a bit !

Interesting Trip Report, Brent.  Sorry about the medical issue, but glad it was caught and hopefully you are back to ship shape.  Thanks for sharing your adventure with us.

You actually had your luckiest hit of the trip, maybe of the year, the way your blood clot manifested. You developed symptoms that were alarming enough to make you go to the ER; that isn't always the case. Also, the clot migrated to your lungs, not to your circulatory system, where it could have been game over before you were even aware of what was happening. Thud.

A lot of doctors/surgeons keep their patients on blood thinners/aspirin for long afterward, to avoid clots developing. I'm supposed to take them for the rest of my life, after heart surgery. So, apparently a major concern.

And remember the gambler's credo: don't die in Vegas unless you have a really big unpaid marker.

Glad the hospital was able to fix you up in time.  Hope you are feeling better now.

That must have been quite scary, the sudden onset of symptoms.  You may have that long word diagnosis which doesn't come to my mind right now...which tells if are at risk for blood clotting, surgery or no surgery. The blood test tests for four or five 'factors' for which you may be positive for one or more.  You should get hooked up with a pulmonologist to follow up on it and possibly stay on the blood thinner for life.  Notify your Primary Care MD about this event, who can refer you to a pulmonary MD for followup and continue writing your scrips for it.  Did they ever see/tell you where the clot originated?  Most often in a lower extremity.  You will probably be scheduled for ultrasound some months from now, where they can see if it has resolved sufficiently. with the meds.  Best luck on all that.

Forgive my medical missive.  I learned about all this when a CT on my husband showed clots in both lungs, tho his presentation was not drastic like yours.  At least the blood thinners these days are more advanced, don't require blood draws every few days as with Coumadin/Warfarin.

OK, again I need to get back to your Trip Report, which is nicely detailed and much appreciated.  We loved GVR as well, though haven't been back in years.  Thanks for reporting, and congrats for getting thru the nasty medical interruption in one piece! LOL.
