For those of you that read the first two installments this is late in coming. Sorry..
We stayed at my sisters for a week, she lives just north of Phoenix in Anthem. We enjoyed our week with day trips to the local casinos along with sightseeing trips. We went to the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Prescott, Scottsdale, Fountain Hills and the casinos inbetween. The gamblling gods must have taken pity on Rick and his being ill, he hit at every casino but it had to be playing pennies and nickels. If he jumped up to dollars, he tanked. It was still a win couple hundred everyday we played.
The last night we were there we had made plans to go the Buffalo Chip for bbq and bull riding. My sister wanted to show us the store across the street. Well as we were crossing something happened and all I know is I broke my glasses, bruised my knee, shoulder and had a goose egg on my forehead by my eye. I refused to leave since we had waited a week to go there. It was the most fun having the bbq and watching the bullriding. There were some kids that rode sheep and a calf.
Getting up the next moring, I had the start of the best shiner ever. It was purple, red, black and more. We were leaving for Laughlin and had reservations for Superbowl weekend. comped of course so that was great...We really like being able to walk up and down the river walk and enjoy some of the non hustle of Vegas. Once again, Rick was hitting like crazy on every machine he played. If he played the dollars he tanked. On the pennies he played 1.25 a hand and 2.50 and hit like crazy. There was a huge crowd and a ton of security everywhere. Colorado Belle changed their players club to the cashier cage and is it a pain in the ass...Hope they get that fixed soon. We checked out on Tues morning making our way back to Vegas for the last night.
We decided to try Fremont Street. Having never stayed there Rick thought this would be an opportune time to try it. We stayed at Main Street Station and we were impressed with the room until the trains went by...lol The room was very comfy and we woud rate it better than some on the strip..ip/riviera/circus circus.
We played until late in the evening, hitting again on all the penny and nickel machines. We decided to splurge for our last dinner and ate at Oscar's lounge. If you eat at the steakhouse you can only order off their menu. If you eat at the Italian you can only order off their menu and it is a closed off no window room. So we ate at the lounge with a good view and you can order off both menus.
We had a meat sampler, the chopped salad for starters. The chopped salad was excellent, I loved it and Rick's meat sampler was just that, different meats, cheeses and veggies.. asparagus, artichokes, peppers, eggplant.
For dinner I had the eggplant, and Rick had the meatball/saugage meal served family style. I got the better dinner. It was excellent, creamy cheese, light sauce and delicatley breaded eggplant. Rick had penne with a meatball and sausage, ehhh!..The meal was very good and one we would be happy to return and try again.
The next morning we were out and at the airport by 9. Delta screwed with our seats and told us we didn't have the seats we reserved 9 months prior. They wanted to charge us for the seats because there was more leg room When I showed her our reservations she gave us the seats free of charge. Nice of her!!. When we got to the gate I asked if the emergency row was open and the gate attendant gave us those free of charge. When we got on the plane we saw why, the first 12 rows were empty... The flight was uneventful and just seemed to take a long time as were were dreading coming home.
We are already planning next year, a little Vegas, Laughlin and Phoenix. Can't wait...thanks for reading.
