Our morning was spent grabbing breakfast at the buffet 4.99 per person. Standard buffet fare, but the potato pancakes were very good. We have coffee in our room in the morning, as this is a basic necessity for me, and Palace station does not keep coffee makers in their rooms but will bring you one upon request.
We spent most of the morning in the room watching the news about Boston, as we are from Massachusetts. We were hoping that they would locate the 2nd bomber from the Boston Marathon. We happened to be in the room later in the day when he was eventually found. Way to go Boston Police!!!!
Video keno is not being kind to me this trip. I usually hit several $400 jackpots but they are hiding from me this trip. I think I need to keep to video poker and penny slots, as I am having some luck on the pennies, and holding my own on video poker - at least they let me play for a while before gobbling my cash!! We played bar tops and other machines here at Palace Station until about 2 PM and then headed to the room to take a break.
I was able to catch a nice nap, knowing that we would be out late to see the downtown area. Remember, we are East Coast people, your 7 PM is our 10 PM, so the time change is difficult for us. I like to keep our own schedule - makes it easier when we return home and have to head to work the next day. I place a call to my friends, but once again, get their voicemail. I leave them a message that we are heading downtown, in the event they want to meet up with us there.
We take a taxi downtown - this will allow me to have a couple of drinks and not worry about driving. We arrive to find the party in full swing downtown. First we head to the Fremont casino - seafood buffet on Friday nights loaded with seafood. I enjoy some crab legs, large fried shrimp, veggies. They also have raw oysters, fried oysters, lots of different types of fishes, prime rib, turkey, sushi, and more. It was a nice buffet and with my MRB coupon 19.99 for 2 of us.
I had wanted to see the light show as now they have changed their program to include my favorite band, Heart. I was able to see the new Heart show and the next show was Bon Jovi, another of my favorites. It was great to see people dancing in the street to the music.
We grab a couple of drinks from the outdoor bar and head into the Vegas club to play for a bit. It was way too loud in there, drunk men at the crap table, all yelling with every roll. We each play $20 and I lose mine, John cashes out $30.
We watch one of the spray can painters outside. $40 each if you wish to purchase one. Some are really nice, but this particular painter really liked to do black and white. He kept drawing a crowd, as people just love to watch this talent. I wonder how they learn this craft???? If you have never seen one, you can see them on youtube.
Finally we make our way to the Plaza. We pass Hash House and notice the heaping plates of food!!!! People seemed to be enjoying their meals. There is also a line waiting for seats, so they are doing well.
Inside the Plaza I see they have reconfigured the floor. It looks a lot nice, but it seemed cold to me. Like no life in there. Although there were some people playing on machines, no noise, which is in stark contrast to Fremont street!!!
We play for a bit, hitting nothing again...........hop into a taxi back to Palace Station and head to bed at 2 AM.
Today is a new day - I think I am going to change to video poker, as the keno is just not working for me..
